Q: QuestionWe have 17 separate thermostats in our house. If we replaced each of them with a Nest could we group them by house areas and control these groups rather than each thermostat individually?

• A:Answer Yes you can. If you set the devices up in Google Home, it asks where the device will be located. Therefore if you say to a Google device, "Change living room thermostats to 68 degrees," all thermostats in that area that you have set will change. Not sure if you can do this with Amazon Echo.

• A:Answer Compatible with Alexa? Supposedly, but I have never been able to get Alexa to control my Nest (not Google-Nest) thermostat. Buy a google home mini to use if alexa won't work. About that "c-wire'; My old non-google nest thermostat-E worked without a C wire for several years. I just replaced it with a new google-nest thermostat E a few weeks ago after the wifi transmitter failed, and so far, it is working without the C wire. HOWEVER, I have another residence that I installed the more expensive non-google-nest learning Thermostat and it has never been able to work without the C wire for longer than a week, maybe less. Maybe the newer google-nest branded learning thermostat won't have that problem, but I'm not sure. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A C-WIRE, I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU BUY A PRODUCT LIKE VENSTAR'S OR HONEYWELL'S "ADD A WIRE" PRODUCT. But I would check your wiring first. I found my furnace had an unused fifth wire in the cable, I just needed to hook it up at both ends.

Q: QuestionDoes this work with dual fuel systems like a heat pump and gas furnace? The last generation stopped engaging the electric heat mode on the heat pump after 6 months, now reversing valve won't switch over from cooling.

Q: QuestionI'm uder the impression that the nest thermostats are all battery powered but you still wire them up where the thermostat basically charges itself. Are all nest thermostats this way where you can wire them to constantly charge the battery?

Q: QuestionWhen the thermostat is set to heat/cool mode is there a way to make the current temperature in a larger font and not show the range? The large font on the range confuses my elderly father and is more info than he needs to see.

I just recently purchased this Thermostat for my 85 year old dementia mother and the larger temperature as you stated is the one it is set at and the smaller temperature as you already know is the indoor temperature. I wish it was the other way around and maybe it can be. It's a good question that we might need to ask the Best Buy Geek Squad and if it can't be changed, then maybe we need to be on the Company Board of the creator of this Smart Thermostat because we know what it is like with our elder parents that we love dearly. I purchased this Thermostat to not have a lot of info and to be simple and for my mom not to see a lot of stuff. Also, that I can control from my App to make sure she is comfortable. All my best to you, as we look out for our loved one.
