QuestionIs there it a way to set the ventilation to autostart, so that every time I turn on the stove the fan starts automatically? I always forget to do it in my old jennair electric cooktop and my house gets filled up with toxic fumes.

Questionis there a trim piece that I can use in the front - currently, there is an old GE cooktop located in an island granite countertop the current model extends in the front and hangs over the cabinet below -granite surrounds the other 3 sides

- Answer It has a filter screen. The manual does not show a part number but refers you to the Kitchen Aid website for parts information. Keep in mind the manual has the installation of that filter wrong—it should lean the other way.

Questionthe cooktop I am replacing does not have any fan or ventilation. Do I need any venting in place to install this cooktop? I do not have any vents in place now.

- Answer If you are replacing a cooktop that does not have downdraft ventilation, you are better off with getting one without it. It would be cheaper and you won’t have a center vent in between the burners that would serve no purpose. If you choose to purchase anyway, you have to make sure your cabinet has enough space below to accommodate the ventilation exhaust fan. I estimate it about 18”.

- Answer The grate in the middle is removable and there is a little filter inside. Should be able to clean with a vacuum hose for anything that gets past the filter.
