QuestionIs there a way to disable the night light to not turn on at all? I can't bring myself to talk to the clock and wake my partner up asking Google to turn off the night light. I just want the rear light disabled as if the functionality never existed.

QuestionDoes this device have a backup battery? I would not buy the original Smart Clock because it lacked this essential feature.

- Answer Hello, The Lenovo Smart Clock with Google Assistant model # ZA4R0002US features a 4" touch display and has the ability to control smart home devices from the screen, view security cameras, and receive visual notifications, as well as display photo frame backgrounds with Google Photos. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential model # ZA740005US has all of the same assistant features it just does not have a touch display and doesn't display visual information beyond the time, day, alarms, and weather. The Smart Clock Essential has an additional LED adjustable nightlight that the Touch Display Smart Clock does not.

- Answer Hello, thanks for your question. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential does not have built in AM/FM, but it can paly local radio stations over WiFi. To get started the conversation would go something like this. "Hey Google, set a music alarm" "Okay, when's the alarm for?" "6 am weekdays" "Alright, on weekdays. And what would you like me to play?" "CHYM" "Got it, I'll play CHYM FM radio on weekdays at 6 am

- Answer Hello, thank you for your question. The outdoor temperature information is gathered from the WiFi connection. While the unit itself does not have an indoor temperature sensor if you have a smart thermostat in your home it can 1. Tell you the indoor temperature. 2. Tell you the temperature that is set on the thermostat. 3. Adjust the temperature of the thermostat. Just say "Okay google what's the temperature inside?"

QuestionHello, I switch my power box on/off when I leave my home because my puppy is not being crated. When I switch the power box back on, will the clock display the current time automatically? Or do I have to keep setting my time zone etc. Thanks in advance!

QuestionDoes it have other alarm tones? The only one it seems to play is so weak and I’m not sure who it would ever wake up. If I can’t change the tone I’ll be returning it.

- Answer Hello, thanks for your question. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential has one stock alarm tone that cannot be changed at this time. You do have the ability to set music alarms from your favorite artist, radio station, or podcast from your favorite streaming service like YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM, Tune-in, and more. Just say "Okay Google set a music alarm" to get started. If your alarm volume simply isn't loud enough you may adjust the alarm/timer volume by opening the Google Home App, selecting the Smart Clock's essential settings and then selecting Alarms/Timers

- Answer Yes. On the back of the device, there is a switch to turn off the Smart Clock Essential's microphones if you'd prefer some privacy.

- Answer Hello, we are sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with the weather displaying on your Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. Please ensure you have your home location set in the Google Home App. Once the app is open on your smart phone or tablet please select "settings" and then home information, and enter in your location so the clock knows where to pull weather data for. If this does not resolve your issue please perform a soft reset by unplugging the device for 120 seconds, plugging it back in, and allowing it to power on. If your issue remains Please perform a factory reset by holding down the “Volume + and – ” buttons on top of your device for 8 Seconds. If the issue persists, please contact our customer support team at 866-426-0911

- Answer Hello, Thank you for following up with the Night Light On/ Off routine. You are correct you do indeed need to add a voice starter to save the routine. If you also add the time of day/night and select the days of the week the routine will function without you speaking to the assistant. We were able to get our Smart Clock Essential to turn the night night on/off without speaking to the Assistant, having the time trigger the action. Here is a revised list of steps. To get started please open up the Google Home app on your smart phone or tablet. Next select "routines". After that please select your Smart Clock Essential from the device list at the bottom of the screen. Next please select the mult-colored "+ " Sign to add a new custom routine. Then Add a starter with the time of day to start the routine. Lastly add a custom action. Please type "Turn on night light" in the text box of the custom action. You have now created a custom routine to turn your nightlight on at a certain time. To turn the night light off you will need to crate a custom routine again using the above method but changing the routine action text to "Turn nightlight Off" at the specified time. In order to save the routine or routines you will need to add a voice starter. For the voice starter please type "Night light on" or "Night light off". Once saved the routine will trigger without you speaking to the assistant and the action will be performed at the time you have specified. QuestionI would like to restrict my kids iPad usage at night but still allow them to have access to their music and alarm. Is the clock able to play music from their iPad via Bluetooth if their iPads are downstairs in another room?

- Answer Hello, Yes you can connect to the Smart Clock Essential via Bluetooth from an I-Pad. This will allow you to play music for your children. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential features Bluetooth 5.0 and the wireless technology has a range of 800 feet (240 meters).

- Answer Hi Lucy, thank you for your question. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential needs to be connected to your home WiFi network to function. To setup the Smart Clock Essential you will need to download the Google Home App on your smartphone or tablet. Once setup you don't have to use the smart functions. You can mute the microphone and set the alarm manually with the buttons on top of the device.
