The "floppy flat thing" is the antenna. Mine came with some push pins (there are tiny holes in the top two corners) and velcro stickers for one side of the antenna. You'll need to move the antenna around until you pull in the maximum number of channels in your area. Do a new channel scan every time you move the antenna. The site, www.antennapoint.com, lets you put in your zip code and will show you the location and distance of the TV transmission towers in your area.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can put it almost anywhere. Pin it to a wall, tape it to a window. Heck, the one we use in the service office here at Mohu is laying on the top of a bookcase and it works like a champ. Make sure that you try several locations before permanently mounting the antenna to make sure you find the best spot. It is important to run the channel scan with every move of the antenna, even if it's just an inch!
