• A:Answer 1. No, your router does not have to be Mesh; mine is not and the Extender works great. 2. No, you do not need to plug an ethernet cable from modem to the extender. In fact, all you have to do is plug the extender into a 110 electrical plug just a little distance away from the weakest area. In other words, just a little distance away from the area you want the wifi signal improvement and follow the instructions on the app you download to your smart phone. Where you plug in the Extender, therefore, does NOT have to be near the router...........just near the weak-signal area.
