- Answer Yes this will help a lot. Since you say free wifi, when u set this up you dont need to put in the password. Just select the right SSID and you will be able to extend the connection. But since this hardware is WIFI 6, if you only have an AC connection then you will not be able to maximize its full potential.

QuestionCurrently have free WiFi... signal's horribly weak. Do we need access to the router to use this device? When device finds the WiFi signal...will it boost the WiFi so the computer can use it? Line of sight...what's estimate of range.

- Answer You will install the Nighthawk app first. Then power it up. You connect the Nighthawk to your current WiFi network. Then once online plug your PC into it. It just needs the WiFi signal to connect. It will then turn into an extension of your existing network. It works great. Hope this helps.

- Answer If that router provides wifi then I’d say yes. This connects to your wifi. You download an app to your phone to access the router and set it up on your network. Then it acts as a wifi booster and a hub if you want to connect devices via Ethernet cables. I bought one so I could move my modem and wifi router to the living room and have direct connections for my devices and but this in my upstairs where the modem used to be so I can still have internet on my desktop

QuestionDoes this create a Wi-Fi network that says EXTENDED? I bought a couple of extenders from Amazon and they create their own EXT wifi signal, which I am trying to avoid. Ideally, I just want one 2.4 and a 5G network without the headache of doing multiple.

- Answer This unit does not create “Extended” networks. You select the 5G and/or 2.4G Networks that need amplification. Very easy to install.

- Answer I don't know if I really understand the question, so I will do my best to answer. The password associated with the SSID ( i.e. used to connect to the Wi-Fi ) is different from the password used to manage the device if you HTTP to the IP address of the device. I think there might even be another password for the phone app, but I do not use that app so I cannot really speak to that.
