• A:Answer The PoE Gateway eero is designed to be the head/gateway eero (thus the name) of an eero network, especially one using PoE 6 eero. There must be one eero upstream for all the others so in previous PoE setups it had to be configured as Internet/Modem->Head eero->PoE Injector/switch->PoE eero. Since most PoE setups don't need wifi in the network closet, that led to an eero that was largely unused for wifi. The PoE gateway solves this and removes the need for an additional PoE switch. With it you go internet/modem->Poe Gateway eero->PoE eero. Of course the PoE Gateway eero also works well for hardwired setups that aren't PoE

Q: QuestionCan I hook non powered devices to this switch without messing them up, like my xbox and eero 6 plus that dont have poe??reason being i have a eero 7 outdoor I would like to use on a poe?

• A:Answer He Gundy. Thanks for reaching out! The eero PoE Gateway supports the connection of both PoE and Non-PoE devices. It has eight PoE Capable 2.5GbE ports and two 10 GbE ports. Your non-PoE devices can be hardwired to either the 2.5 GbE or 10 GbE ports, while the Outdoor 7 would need to plus into the 2.5 GbE ports for PoE power. I hope this helps. Have a great day!

Q: QuestionIs this proprietary to the Eero ecosystem, or would this work as well for the Asus XT8 mesh system?

• A:Answer The eero PoE Gateway will provided access to the internet to anything that is hardwired into it via an ethernet cable, including the XT8. However the eero wifi network (assuming you have additional eero to make a wifi network, the PoE Gateway doesn't have wifi) and the XT8 wifi network would be separate, even if you had the same name/password on them. An eero cannot wirelessly extend an XT8's wifi network.
