If you would like recordings from your device, you will want to subscribe to a Ring Protect Plan. The Ring Protect Plan is a subscription that gives you access to paid features for Ring devices. With a Ring Protect Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events. Q: QuestionMy current Ring doorbell camera quit working after 5 years. It is hardwired. If I use this to replace the old one, will it connect to the same system that was set up by our alarm company? It appears that the one we currently have is no longer available.

The Ring Wired Doorbell will work with your existing doorbell wiring as long as your transformer is within the supported range of 10 to 24VAC, 10 to 40VA, 50/60Hz. It's important to know that this doorbell operates through the Ring app and your Wi-Fi network rather than through a traditional alarm panel. If your alarm company originally installed a Ring doorbell, you can simply set up this new one on your existing Ring account using the app and your existing wiring. One thing to note is that the Ring Wired Doorbell requires existing doorbell wiring for its power supply, but it does not sound your existing doorbell chime. To hear audio alerts in your home, pair it with a Ring Chime or compatible Alexa device (each sold separately).
