You connect your cable box to the TV the same way as normal. When you connect this to the TV then to the sound bar the TV sound will go through the sound bar not the tv.

On the stereo one of the media choices (SAT, TV, DVD...) should have an audio in. Connect the other end there. You may have to program your stereo to use the optical audio port for the media choice you plugged it into.
