I cannot necessarily suggest Samsung over any other manufacturer (though May 2016 Consumer Reports rates 2 Samsung top loading high efficiency models #1 and #2) but I can strongly recommend you stay away from LG.
A:Answerclothes get clean, and you can use the setting called deep wash and the water will cover the clothes. I do that ocassionally when I feel the clothes are extra dirty.

A:AnswerNoise levels are not listed on the spec. This is a very quiet machine. I view the display to check my cycles. I don’t usually hear the change. I recognize the spins only because I hear the ejector pump in the basement. A cute jingle sounds when the load is finished.
A:AnswerYes, you can use the powder or liquid detergent. The pods work also. I've not had any issues with using all types of detergent or fabric softener. I love this machine.
