A:AnswerThis is not a hard drive. It is an enclosure to hold a hard drive that you already have, or, to hold a new hard drive that you want to use as a back-up drive.
A:AnswerAs long as it's a SATA drive and the right size, should be no problem. Open your computer and look at the old drive first. Info on the drive label.
A:AnswerMost HP stuff is proprietary, which is why I started building my own. You would think a hard drive would be interchangeable, and I did use a Seagate on my last HP with no problems, but I just done know. Contact HP support to make sure.
A:AnswerAs long as your Power supply, BIOS and Motherboard can handle it, I see no reason that you can't use it for backup of data. I do it quite often but I don't use Mfr's puters - I build my own from scratch.
