• A:Answer Yes you are able to. When you download it to your computer you go through the set up where it will instruct how to back up from your phone. It is done through an app. I have found it to be very easy to use for my computer and phone.

Q: QuestionBackup Plus Slim 1TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard DriveI have an old computer with Windows ME. I want to save the pictures and some files. Can this device be used with an old computer (1999) like this? I have an adapter that will convert the old connector to I think a USB 1? connection.

• A:Answer Yes, as long as the computer has a good port to use with the adaptor. The computer should display the drive in windows explorer, drag and drop your files. It may take quite a while at USB 1 data rates.

• A:Answer Yes, I personally use Windows 10 and the drive works great. I'm not sure exactly what your second question is, but as I understand it... Yes you can view anything currently stored on the drive and even run games or programs off of it (as long as you set them up right) because all files are accessible by your computer

• A:Answer You sure can. You will just need to manually copy over your documents, music, movies, etc. from your profile folder to the USB drive, and then manually copy these over into their respective folders (again, manually) on your Windows 8.1 computer.

• A:Answer Yes it is compatible. I cannot remember exactly what I did but part of it was to register my product and then I had to choose if I wanted it to be used for both mac and pc or just one or the other. I chose both. I have had no problems backing up my mac files. I was able to do it by simply dragging and dropping folder by folder. No problem. In the course of figuring out how to do it, I did wind up opening something that seemed to indicate I could only copy each file separately and not in their folder. But after I registered the product and choose how I wanted to use the product, I had no problem dragging and dropping all from the "Finder" window. Do it all in one "Finder" window. Good luck.

• A:Answer You will need third-party software to reliably protect the data. Head to the EFF's website - http:/www.eff.org - you can find all sorts of privacy tools that will reliably protect your data. Do not rely on simple passwords, as they can easily be compromised and are routinely bypassed. You need encryption - OpenPGP would be a great choice. There is a small learning curve associated with it, but once mastered and deployed, NO ONE can get to your data - not even trained spies! Good luck!

• A:Answer This device is USB only. Some routers have the ability to plug in an external USB hard drive such as this one to make the drive accessible over your network, but that would depend on your router.

• A:Answer Yes. There is a white light that flashes when the drive is being accessed in the upper left hand corner. You can see it in the photo unlit. It flashes just like your HD light on your tower or laptop when it is accessed.

• A:Answer Shouldn't be a problem as long as you have a functioning USB 2.0 or 3.0 port and run Windows XP or higher. It even works with Mac OS X 10.6 or higher and mobile devices running Android 2.3 or higher as well as Apple running IOS 6 or higher.
