- Answer No your R40 uses an ATA drive which is not the same as a serial ATA. A Parrallel ATA or (PATA) drive is what you need. And because your system was around when 40, 60, and 80gb hard drives were the largest ones, there might be some minor issues with size limitation (as in the laptop may only recognize up to 40, 60, or 80 gb)

- Answer As long as your system uses an ATA III connection and uses the following : PC: Windows 7, 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP or Vista; Mac: OS X; Linux It should work. Windows 8 has not been tested with this drive. I have mine in a Compaq CQ-60 running Windows 7 and I have no problems. Installed simply and took the system recovery easily.

- Answer Yes.. Your Toshiba Satellite M645 notebook has a 5400 rpm sata drive n it. So any SATA hard drive will work as a replacement.

- Answer If you got that far your operating system has issues and not necessarily your hard drive (although that could be playing a part) This hard drive should work just fine for you, but you will need to reload your operating system.

- Answer Are you trying to swap the hard drive from within this drive to your laptop? It might be. I'd check the dimensions (specifically the thickness) of this drive against the one you have in your HP laptop.

- Answer It's actually SATA II, it's mislabeled on the website, but yes it will definitely work with your laptop. It's also backwards compatible for older SATA I hard drive types too.

- Answer This drive will work in your computer, but it is smaller than the original drive (500 vs 640). If the smaller drive will not give you the storage you need, for $20 more you can double the size to 1 TB. See below.

- Answer Yes, this will fit in a L745-S4210. The original drive in that model was a 640GB, and this is a 500GB, so be sure all your data will fit on a 500GB. For $20 more you can install the 1TB drive below if you think you might need more room.
