A:Answer From what I’ve read and experienced the unit itself is identical. The difference is in the items that come with the detector. If you feel the different power cord, big suction cup mount, and carrying case are valuable to you, the R1 is the way to go. If you feel you wouldn’t use those accessories, the R1BBY is the right choice. I personally went with the R1BBY and with the savings, purchased accessories that more fit my needs.
