Q: QuestionWhat are the technical differences between the R1 and the R1BBY?
Asked by Papa.
- A:Answer From what I’ve read and experienced the unit itself is identical. The difference is in the items that come with the detector. If you feel the different power cord, big suction cup mount, and carrying case are valuable to you, the R1 is the way to go. If you feel you wouldn’t use those accessories, the R1BBY is the right choice. I personally went with the R1BBY and with the savings, purchased accessories that more fit my needs.

Q: QuestionHow can you find out how loud the alert is? If listening to music with volume up, I want a unit with LOUD alert... One of my main concerns is volume of the units alert. I think this is a concern of many people.
Asked by Don.
- A:Answer It's loud enough in my opinion. Search for videos on YouTube. Buy it and find out for yourself. There is a 15 day return policy if you’re not satisfied. The Uniden R series detectors are the longest range detectors on the market today.

Q: QuestionCan you add a Bluetooth module or attach speakers?
Asked by Cv.
- A:Answer Mine has an audio out port that I’ve never tried. However I’ve heard of people using the port for speakers or headphones. These do not have Bluetooth and you can’t connect them to your phone. Other detectors like Valentine or Escort can connect to your phone via a module or built in BT but I’m not sure if you can BT into speakers with those.

Q: QuestionDoes this have the updated firmware ?
Asked by cantdrive55.
- A:Answer Mine came with 1.37 in November. It was a great firmware. I updated to 1.48 a couple of weeks ago. It was very easy to do and I like the enhanced features. I’ve seen very few complain about 1.37. If there is that weak MRCD photo radar in your neighborhood, you’ll want updated firmware to detect that. However the vast majority of the US doesn’t have it, so 1.37 would work great.
