Yes, it has one hole at the top (or bottom if you flip the board) on each side of the sliding doors. The back is made of the flimsy laminated wood. The rest of it is very sturdy. However, they do give you nails with clips to install on the backs to make them tighter. They don't move after you install those.

While there are not any openings, the back of the unit is made particle board that is finished to match the rest of the piece. This would make it easy to modify for cable management. So if you were planning on putting any electronics on the bottom shelves you would need to create new holes. It wouldn’t be hard to drill other holes because the back is made out of softer material that is almost cardboard like, but sturdier. I’m very pleased with this purchase.
