QuestionCan this be used strictly for movies and sitcoms? I want to take my dvd library and put it on a hard drive and simply cast the movie to my tv...Next question, can you cast from this device, or does it need to be hard wired to the tv?

- Answer This is simply a hard drive so it will not cast any media in and of itself. You can plug it in to a smart tv that will read files off of an external drive or connect the drive to a device ( which would then connect to your tv via hdmi) that can play the files such as a Nvidia Shield tv.

- Answer The disk makers buy power adapters from thrid parties they don't make them to my knowledge. I expect they can be interchanged without difficulty but I would label them just to be extra cautious.

- Answer It sounds like you need a new internal HDD for your computer. Buy an external for "backup," but beware that an external hard drive can fail just like any other mechanical device. What is best for you? Depends on your needs. how much storage space do you need? what kind of connection are you using? How will you access the data?

- Answer Yes, you should be able to use your Chrome computer and this Hard Drive and stream it to your TV, if you have a TV that has this capability. You need to have a power outlet for this and most external hard drives.

QuestionIs this a layered or shingled drive or does it write -read more like a standard drive? I have heard that the layered drives have to do a lot more work if you edit a file that is down a couple of layers where it has to rewrite all the top layers above it.

- Answer No - there is not an internal Fan - but it is also not a closed up case - plenty of open holes for air circulation - the Specs state that it will operate up to 95deg F.

QuestionHello, does this external hard drive have to have reusable DVD's and connect it to your computer threw a wire, or do you just connect it to a wire, or does it do it over a valid internet connection? I would also like to know the size of this in inches?

- Answer The drive connects via a USB 3.0 cable which is included. Speed of transfer is acceptable, maybe not quite as fast as a direct SATA connection, but perfectly workable. I'm not really sure what you mean by reusable DVDs, this is a 3.5 inch hard drive inside the case.

- Answer Always possible to get a replacement I suspect. But faster and probably cheaper method is to go to a local store that handles electronics and purchase a new adaptor that has various connections that will fit several devices and use that.

- Answer You do not need to use the backup software. I use as another drive on e: drive on the system. I have never used their backup software.

QuestionWhy does this "Best Buy exclusive" drive have only a 2-year warranty, while the WD MyBook and Passport versions both have a 3-year warranty?

- Answer the 3 year warranty is only for old models. all WD externals manufactured in late 2016 and going forward only have a 2 year warranty. that includes the new rectangular design My book and Passport units. this is an industry wide thing, nothing to do with best buy. seagate reduced their warranties to 2 years a long time ago. having said that, this best buy exclusive drive is way better than the my book products because it contains a much higher quality hard drive inside.
