Run the WD diagnostics app they gave you when you got the drive to see if yours is damaged. Mine showed there is 0b on the disk and that is why it isnt showing up. Its like it was never formatted.

A:AnswerWith Dish, their dvr only recognizes 2tb external drives (those that require a power cord) or smaller, Has to do with the way it formats the drive initially. Best Buy salesperson swore larger drive would be recognized. It wasn't. Drive would spin endlessly when formatting. Best Buy accepted my return.
