    Not worth it for a camera

    Bought this plan and was told that part of the plan included a cleaning of the camera and lens each year. I forgot about this benefit until towards the end up my plan (it expires in a few months) and so I went to Best Buy to find out the process for this service. They stated they do not service cameras onsite and have to send them away for this service. I asked how long it would take and they said approx 6-8 weeks. That is completely ridiculous! I am not willing to be without my camera for that long. I use my camera nearly every weekend and expected that it might take like two weeks or so, so once I found out it would possibly be 2 months, I chose not to take advantage of this service. What a waste of money!

    After the salesman assured me you can "replace/exchange" your troubled product ... no questions asked with this extended warranty, I reached out to Geek Squad for support in doing so. Here's what I was told - "Sorry, we cannot replace/exchange this product because your receipt does not show a '-R' with the warranty. We will send this in for repair only. Make sure you train your Sales staff better to not mislead consumers please.

      Hi SamS – Thank you very much for your feedback about our Geek Squad Protection Plans. We do our best to provide full coverage at the time of purchase by providing a copy of our Terms & Conditions. Most of our plans cover repair, and replacement only if the item is deemed unrepairable. If replacement is the only option, it is called out in the plan name.

    Worth It for Some Not All

    Honestly not worth the money, I wish it was cheaper. I would think if you buy an expensive item consider insuring it if it is costly, but I would not get it again. I will say Geek Squad staff is very polite, but I did not get much use out of the insurance plan.

    Geek squad was very helpful in helping restore my computer to be at a faster state but there is still a problem with the hard drive and that when I received my laptop back there was a huge scratch

    Dont Buy if you get item on sale

    I always buy on my larger items. If they can repair items they do but when they cant they give you a store credit for price paid. If you bought it on sale your out of pocket for difference

    I honestly am not sure why I bought the warranty. It doesnt cover physical damages, it was 70 bucks. And rarely does a digitalor internal problem happen. Still hasnt for my camera. So be careful

    Never used it. If something had happened to this camera I'm sure it would have been worth it, but I take care of my stuff so ...

    No email asking if i want extend the protection

    I want extend my protection of my camera but now is expired and any body send to me email before asking for extension of my protection now I can't pay for a extension of my plan

      Hello Mayphoto – While we sometimes offer renewals on our Geek Squad Protection Plans, we do not offer them in all cases, for a variety of reasons. I apologize if this wasn’t relayed to you at the time of your purchase. The best way to check in to see if your plans are renewable, in case any renewal emails get lost to a spam filter, is to visit your local Best Buy store and ask an employee there to look your plans up periodically. They should be able to tell you if you have any plans currently up for renewal.

    Had this service and the lens was scratched they wanted to mail the whole camera back and 3-4 months maybe get it back why couldn't they just return the lens ?? and they can give them the report of camera conditions
