Not quite like Sonic Ice, but close. It's actually tube ice cut short and somewhat a "wet" ice. However, after about three months I found a piece of the auger had broken off and is in the ice bin. Still love it, but not neccassially durable / safe.

I had it less than a year and it started leakijg and making loud noises. Its a noisy ice maker. I woukdnt recommend at all.

One day it made an awful racket and jumped about a foot in the air. So I unplugged it and returned it to the store for the refund. Wes good untill it wasn't.

Disappointed after 5 months

We loved it at first but the dogs and I can't live with the squeal. Very disappointed. Thankfully we have Total Tech so I will be taking it back.

Can’t leave ice in the machine

However, you can’t leave the ice in the machine. Meaning you have to make ice and move it to the freezer. We didn’t see this anywhere in the product description and only discovered this after reading through the manual.
