    Okay But Not Many Outlets

This back-up device is okay. My only complaint is that the outlets don't give you much room if you have any plugs that are even a little large so its hard to use all the plugs with things that have bulkier plugs like my router and modem.

    Perfect For Work-From-Home Set-up

We’ve been using APC Back-UPS & Surge Protectors for many years & haven’t been disappointed. They’ve proven to be dependable & worth every penny spent. This 450VA 6-outlet unit is another winner. Now that I’m mostly working from home, a surge protector & battery backup is an absolute must. I have 3 monitors, a PC, landline phone & calculator, so the 6 outlets are perfect. The extra space between the 4 surge + power outlets is great because I have some oversized plugs. Between the on-going construction nearby & frequent electrical storms (especially over the Summer), we lose power a couple times a month on average. It was a nightmare to get shut down in the middle of a process & lose my work. I constantly had to pause & save my work for fear of losing it. Now, with the APC in place; when the power goes out, the unit kicks in & gives me time to finish up, save my work & shut down properly. We also have a lot of power surges. I’m aware of the surges because we’ve been using APC Back-UPS on our personal PC/Electronics as well. I can hear the unit working & responding to every surge. It reminds me of how my electronics would be getting fried if we didn’t have the APC protection. No doubt, the surge protection has extended the life of our equipment.

I was at first excited to purchase this battery pack to replace an existing one. I sadly had to return it because, the cord was too short! It was literally 10 inches shorter than my previous pack and would not reach the outlet.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback about our UPS. If the cable box isn't overloading the UPS then the sales person was correct that the unit would provide a battery backup during the small power blimps you are experiencing. Please reach out to an APCbySchneider support team at your convenience so we can look into this issue further. We offer email and chat services through our support site and you may also contact us directly at 800-800-4272 option 4. Not a very easy setup. Straight out of the box chirps until you get it setup through software and charged. Other brands are easier to setup with simple plug into wall outlet

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you had trouble setting up the unit. The UPS would need to charge for around 24 hours before using to ensure the battery is fully charged. If you are still continuing to have issues with the unit please do not hesitate to reach out to an APCbySchneider support team. We would be happy to resolve you with any issues with UPS. Bad implimentation for connecting battery

Last time I bought one of these, to connect the battery you just opened the battery cover, attached the wires to the battery terminals, and closed the lid. Easy! Now you remove something that looks like a very large car fuse (a plastic part with two metal terminals), and shove it into a slot on the bottom of the battery. The first time I tried it was very hard to push this part in and the battery did not connect properly. It was very hard to pull the part out to try again and when I looked in the slot it looked like I had pushed the contacts into the battery. I tried again and it seemed to work (I did not get any flashing lights) but just three ir four weeks later the unit started flashing and beeping and indicated battery not connected or battery needed replacement. Money down the drain and unit niw going to recycle.

    Not great for Brownouts

This only kicks in when the power is completely out. If that's what you need it for this is fine. But it won't help with brownouts as it doesn't kick in unless there is no power.

Excellent Budget UPS For It's Specific Use Case

So, the BN450MNW isn't going to be something you rely on for things like desktop computers or even laptops, but that's not what it's for so you shouldn't expect it to be. If you're looking for something to keep your cable modem and router going for a little while when the power goes out, this more than fits the bill. You can also get away with using it to top up your mobile phone battery at the same time and still get a solid 30 minutes of juice out of it. I actually have two of these. As a Verizon FIOS customer, I have an optical network terminal (ONT) on the side of my house that requires power to keep internet service going. The plug for that runs into my basement and into an outlet there, so I just popped one of these into that outlet and moved the ONT plug to one of the battery backup outlets in this unit. The second unit is upstairs and provides backup power to my wifi router and my security camera transformer. That means that even during a (brief) power outage I am still fully online and can have a live view of my property. Not bad for $112ish for the two units. The price is right. If used as intended the battery power you get is the same as it says in the documentation. An overall solid buy!

Thank you for taking the time to review our BN450M. The BN450M doesn't come with the USB port for the shutdown software because traditionally it used with smaller equipment like a router and modem. The feature is available in our BN650M1 which is the next step from the BN450M. Please do not hesitate to contact an APCbySchneider support team if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. There is a chance that the power recliner pulled too much power for the BN450MNW. This specific UPS would support 255 watts of equipment connected to it so the power draw would need to be under that. APC

I do not like the size of it, consider aesthetics since it will bulge your living room furniture. For its capacity I believe you have better options.
