2 bad units
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought two of these. One was fine, second one had a high pitched whine to it as soon as we set it up. Returned the whiney one for a 3rd one. 29 days later {thankfully barely still within the return policy} the first one just full out died. Wouldn't power up at all... Hoping the replacement we got for the whiney one holds up but I'm done with these.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you ran into issues with our unit. There is a chance that the UPS is becoming overloaded if the load connected to the UPS is drawing more than 600 watts of power. I would just make sure that the load is under this. If it is is and you are still having issues with the UPS please reach out to an APCbySchneider support team. We offer email and chat services through our support site. Not Great
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OMG. Before you purchase this -- thinking that you might have 8 plug-ins -- beware that the backup's power cord gets in the way and if you have a large plug - such as is found on my router - you will lose 1 entire row of 4 plugs just to be able to plug it in. This battery back up will only give you 8 plug-ins for items with small plugs -- no oversize plugs allowed!! :(

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I apologize that there isn't a lot of room on the back of the unit for equipment with transformer plugs. I will go ahead and pass along the feedback to my colleagues in engineering about the outlets.

Reliable Peace of Mind
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a somewhat remote area of NY that has the occasional power outage due to tree limbs knocking down utility wires etc. This happens at least 4-10 times per year. I also work out of the house so having uninterrupted power to be able to save work if needed during a power outage is very important to me. The APC Back-UPS Pro 1000 gives me peace of mind for these situations. You get 4 Battery Backup outlets and 4 Surge Protection outlets and can hook up your coax & RJ45 wires for dataline surge protection. Setup is easy and the PowerChute software helps you configure and monitor your APC Back-UPS Pro 1000, although you don’t need to install the software, with the great front display you can pretty much see all the info you need. Among the things you can configure with the software are power on sequences, monitor the battery and force hibernation etc. The runtime I experienced when testing was just about 35 mins or so which is sufficient for me to do what I need to do and power down. Overall the APC Back-UPS Pro 1000 gives the reliable peace of mind I need as losing power is a regular occurrence for me and I need something to help with that.

Tim Allen would approve
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The LCD panel gives a quick view of critical stats and info. This will alert you of any wiring faults, power load usage, battery status along with other status messages. Most important it will let you know how long the battery will last under load. Important to remember, the left side outlets are the UPS outlets. The right are simple surge protection. I inverted this at first and was wondering how I had 300+ minutes of protection for my PC. If you use Coax for your cable router, there is coax protection as well as Ethernet protection. PowerChute software is fantastic. This will allow a system connected to the UPS ports to shut down in case of loss of power. Very intuitive and straightforward. The software gives you all the control you want and then some. This is the biggest add to this UPS over a standard UPS without advanced controls. In my opinion this is the best option with the most control if you want to protect your PC. For small offices/small shops this is what you want to protect the main PC or server you are running for your business.

Half the battery capacity of my old APC 1000 VA
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to replace an older 1000 VA APC UPS. When I went to plug the battery in on this one I see that it only has one 7 amp hour battery where my old one has two. Looks like the rating scale has been altered. I returned and bought the 1500 VA one which still has the 2 7 amp hour batteries.

Puny package packs plenty of power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is about the size of a Webster's dictionary yet with 1000VA capacity shows my Surface Studio2 (i7 processor) at only 20% of load. If I flip the Studio in to Gaming mode, this goes up to only 40%. Plenty of juice! Additionally, it comes with the USB data cable and plugging this in to a Windows 10 PC yields "battery" settings and all the configuration therein. Stuff like when to switch to battery saver mode, what power profile to use when "plugged in," and the like. So far no complaints. It's a nice and small unit with more backup availability and seamless setup.

Great Backup Power for Your Electronics
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The APC Back-UPS Pro 1000VA Battery Back-Up System is a great device for keeping your electronics powered during power failures. You can keep the Internet alive, your computer from shutting down, or keep other electronics up and running during an outage. Not intended to use for long periods of time, but allows ample time to safely shutdown any devices. Very easy setup, essentially plug and go. Definitely recommend this backup system as it has a large battery, easy to use, and can save expensive devices from abruptly shutting down during power failures.

the best brand and products when you need it...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.APC is my favorite battery backup brand and so far all of their products have lasted years before needing to have the batteries replaced. This particular model works great and keeps a normal sized PC running for 30 to 45 minutes maybe longer depending on what you have running in it. I use it for all major brands without issue. I like to have these devices on each outlet in my home office so that I can trust the quality of the current and that when there are spikes or outages my devices are not affected. This is highly recommended.

Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a UPS for my Mac here in Texas due to the unpredictable weather. Got this one for the price point versus power time. Wow is this perfect. Set-up was very simple and I have mine telling me based upon my normal use age how long it will last. This basically gives me a couple of hours to monitor the situation and power down safely. I will also have plenty of juice to keep my phones and Apple watches running for days. Really could not be happier with the simplify of the product, how easy it was to set up and the functionality

Great Backup Power for Key Electronics
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product advertises that it is an 8 outlet backup power device. Only 4 of the 8 outlets are connected to the battery power supply. The other 4 only have surge protection. This should be more clearly stated on the box/packaging. It would have gotten 5 stars if it offered backup protection on all 8 outlets. It does include surge protection for ethernet and coaxial cable as well which is a great protection feature. Overall a great product and I do recommend it. It powered my macBook for about 18 minutes on its own. It is not intended to operate as a generator but give you enough time in a power failure to save essential documents, etc so that you do not lose any work. If you ever have had that happen in the middle of writing a paper or presentation you know what a pain and how aggravating that is. This will help prevent that from happening.

Great Battery Backup system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great for backing up my Desktop computer and providing power to it for those times when the power goes out or drops. I don’t have to worry about loosing important documents I maybe working on. Setup was easy and the instructions are easy to read and understand. It has 8 outlets, but only 4 of them have the ability to provide battery power. The other 4 are just surge protector outlets. Overall I’m impressed with what it has to offer.

Reliable UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not used a new UPS for at least eight years. It use to be hard to find a decently priced unit sized volt amps wise for your needs that also included AVR (automatic voltage regulation). Now AVR seems like it is standard on most quality units, and it can help out a lot in places where voltages sag and spike a bit. AVR allows the unit to continue to supply power without always going straight to battery use when the voltage gets a bit iffy. A very welcome feature. I hooked up a gaming PC tower and monitor to the battery backup outlets, and computer speakers and printer to the surge only outlets on this unit. The watt meter shows a pretty consistent watt reading to my other watt reading wall plug for reading the changing wattage use of my gaming PC tower. I also like the changing estimate of battery runtime displayed. And it passed the big test. I ran a graphic test program for 5 minutes, and recorded the battery estimate for that wattage useage. Then I started the graphic test program again and unplugged the UPS power from the wall to simulate an outage. The unit switched to battery and the computer monitor and PC tower stayed on and powered up as intended without interruption. The graphics stress test continued to run and after 10 minutes, the battery remaining matched the estimate given earlier. And when plugged back in, went right back to main power and started recharging the battery. I am very satisfied with this APC UPS unit and will look into a bigger sized one for a few more sensitive electronics where the units I have are getting pretty old and have had the batteries replaced in them several times.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with our unit. Covers min req
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first UPS for my PC. Power outages are fairly rare, though with increasing powerful storm occurrences it’s a nice bit of insurance against losing your system. For testing, I hooked up a 24” monitor and Dell XPS tower to the unit and pulled the power for 20 min. I guess until now I didn’t realize how much power is saved when those go into low power/sleep but it’s obvious in this setup. The battery had room to spare at the 20 min mark, and with the Power Chute software installed, the PC shut down gracefully when I let the battery go to 5 min left. I consider that a win, I don’t necessarily need my PC during an outage but I don’t want the power killed either. Couple of issues. My unit refuses to stay muted during a power loss. I hit the mute button, see it change on the display, and in a min it will beep again, removing the mute. I had to RMA my first unit as it died during test 2-in order for the Power Chute software to properly show new events it had to be removed and reinstalled, though everything else indicated the battery was testing/etc fine. I did also test adding my 2nd monitor (an old 17” flat) but the drain it put on the system was too much during power loss. I also noticed that if my modern video card was being used, the draw was significant-the moral of the story, don’t expect to ‘use’ your system during a power outage. This system is meant to ensure you’re not going to lose something and not much more. I do appreciate all of the surge protected slots.
