This is my first Asus product and I've only had this laptop for a few weeks, but overall, I love it. I bought the laptop to replace my old HP laptop and to use mainly for school. I also use it for watching movies and TV shows. The display and sound is amazing! I really also like the keyboard and that it's back-lit. My only reservation about the laptop is the touch-pad doesn't seem as sensitive as other ones I've used (even my old HP laptop); it seems to lag some and doesn't always click/select where I intended to.

This computer was exactly what I was looking for, WIN 8 Touchscreen with 4th gen I7 and dedicated graphics card. This thing is light and responds quickly even with the 5400rpm HDD, can't wait to see what it does when I upgrade to a SSD.

I bought this computer to replace my old Lenovo since I was going to college. I wanted something I could play games on (in high settings) and something I could edit movies on smooth and fast. So far this computer is just that. I'm also loving the full resolution touch screen. The color representation is very nice with the contrast ratio and viewing angles, it always looks good. Another plus is how I got free Microsoft Office and an antivirus! This was almost a deal breaker for me. I like how I can purchase basically twice the computer for the same or cheaper price, than if I bought a MacBook. To see other people pay $1200 for a MacBook air makes my purchase seem even more like a good deal. my only complaint is that the laptop is a little on the heavy side. I guess something has to give since everything else about the laptop is amazing. ASUS makes great products. I also wish it had a blu ray drive so I could burn blu rays, but oh well.

Looks:10 Quality:10 Speed:10 Graphics:10 for me 9 in general Sound:10 Battery life:10 Weigh/ size:10 Great looking computer with a quality feel. Fast boot up time and processing. Graphics are great, perfect for gaming and photos. Sound is amazing clear and dynamic. Does not get hot on lap and battery lasts long for my work. Love how the keys light up and stylish look too.A lot of computer for the price! Beats my tower computer! My friend and I both purchased a laptop the same day. His was an Apple, let's just say he returned his already and purchased this one instead. That's not really saying much, because Apple is not quality, but rather just a name brand instead. But he could of went with an other Brand out there, and decided on Asus too. Just to let you know, I did about 4 months of research before making the investment. Eliminating all the comments that say it's the best without reasoning, just is a name brand war. I look for the facts and quality not for status quo. Leader not a follower.

I've always wanted an ASUS computer. Well since they came out a few years ago. Built by geniuses for the gaming community. I don't think there are a group who knows computers better than the gamers. They've tried every combination of motherboard and graphics card, memory and processor, down to the best cooling fan. I am not a gamer though. I am a dj. From karaoke to weddings. I do it all. The hardest part about putting together a mobile system or setup, is finding the right computer. Sure you can take the easy route and just get a Macbook Pro, but they can be very pricey. Plus, I am not an Apple fan. So I looked at and researched for nearly a year, computers. Laptops to be more percise. I am astounded at how much computer you can get for the money now days. Top of the line will run you $1400. And that basically just gets you more memory, an extra pair of cores and gargantuan harddrive space. Which was the direction I was headed. I wanted a fancy gaming computer. But they were just out of my reach price wise. Then I saw this. It was basically a more sofisticaed gamers computer. In professionalistic skin. Metal case. Light up keyboard. Crazy fast processor. So here is why I bought it. 1) Brand 2) Price 3) Processor 4) Memory 5) HD Space 6) Screen size 7) Battery life 8) Dependability All of thos things I mentioned are 10 out of 10. Best in class. If there is one drawback, and there is, it's the gorgeous lightup keyboard. Don't get me wrong, It's abolutely fabulous. I wouldn't buy a computer without backlit keys. The problem, you see, is that the keyboard itself, is grey. Almost a silver. So at certain angles it is impossible to read the keys. There's no contrast. Unless it's pitch black. But honestly that is truly the only issue. Although the screen is so bright that you can turn the backlit keys off and you can actually see the keys better with the lights out because now the cutouts for the letters on the keys, are black and the silvery key shine bright under the glow of the gorgeous LED lit screen.

I didn't think I would use the touch screen much but it has proven to be a great tool; especially while trying to learn and navigate the new Windows. So far the computer works very nicely, it is fast and everything I have plugged into it so far has been extremely easy to run! The reason I can't give this computer an excellent rating is because I haven't had it for very long and I am really having a difficult time transitioning to Window's 8. Otherwise it is a great computer, worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone!

I love everything about my new laptop. I had a really good, well equiped Dell that I loved and hated that it finally went out on me. So, as I began searching for a new one, I knew I wanted all the features my Dell had, but more. After comparing it to a Dell I would have had to have made to order, I got everything I was looking for an more in the Asus! Great speed, great graphics for my games, and touchscreen. I love it.

I love this laptop for all the features it has. It has considerable power and incredibly beautiful, hi-resolution screen (great colors). I use it primarily for photo editing in Lightroom, my old laptop (i-3) was not able to smoothly handle this requirement, so i bought it after lots of research, and this laptop handles photo processing so fast, its amazing, very happy with it. Every picture I've uploaded looks stunning. The touchscreen- I didn't think I'd use it to be honest, but actually it is so responsive and smooth to the touch. I use it often to scroll through long webpages with my thumb. works great, very fast!

When purchasing a new computer numerous things must be taken into account, namely performance and value to you as the consumer. For me the Asus intel core i7 fits the bill perfectly it may not be the lightest and most portable choice but for those who work from home but still like to lay comfortablely in bed without the hassle of desktop this computer is the choice for you. If your worried about simplicity dont, the Asus has you covered with indepth step by step instructions for even the most technically illiterate. But the most important thing about the Asus is the reasonable price tag.

Overall, I like this computer. I like the display, the overall performance, the keyboard, the speakers are awesome. Some things I haven't liked about it are sometimes when I use an app, the sound won't work even though I don't have the computer muted. I need to close and end the program and reopen it in order for it to work. The touch screen is also the same way in the sense that sometimes it chooses not to work and I need to restart the computer to fix it. Also, the external subwoofer doesn't always work when plugged in. I also need to continually change the power settings between plugging/unplugging the computer from the battery saving mode to the high performance mode. I'm only impressed with the computer's performance when it's in high performance mode, and I think it's a nuisance to always need to change it back. These are minor issues, though, and overall I am happy with the computer.

I love this laptop. I was a bit leery about getting an Asus because I've never used one before. This is the first laptop I've ever purchased for myself and I have not regretted it at all. I can play MMO's, SP games, music, programming, Virtual Machines, program my raspberry pi and arduino. The wifi has a good range and so does the bluetooth. The only part that is getting hot is the battery, as they do, and the rest stays very cool. I bought a cooling dock just to be safe because you never really know, but I don't think it's really needed for regular use. It's fast and I love the idea of upgrading the RAM to 16GB. Certainly not sad about that! Oh, and it's light and thin and the touchscreen works every time, although I don't use it much. Plus the little subwoffer that comes with it is awesome. I just wish it had more than 3 USB ports and at least one usb3 port for fast charging.

    Needed a College Computer

Going into my freshman year of college, I needed a computer. Before I had a Toshiba, it was 4 years old, and was starting to show it's age. As a graduation present, my aunt bought me the Sony Viao 2-in-1. It was awful. It froze, so I took it in. Geek Squad didn't know what to do with it, and I got a refund. I didn't have time to research any computer or what I wanted, but I had my brother along to help me. The lady said that Asus are the top of the market. It seemed like the perfect computer for school and if I ever wanted to play games. Let me just say, this is an amazing computer. Not once since I've had it, has it gotten hot. The fans keep it so cool, which was a problem with my Toshiba. I fully charged the battery and it lasted for 8 hours before I had to recharge(Normal web browsing, no games). It had a number pad which is like so important to me. The keys are a good space apart, so I can actually type, which was a problem with the Sony. My only problem is the mousepad. I hate it. It takes getting used to.

I'm new to the whole windows 8 operating system. So not only was I learning about my great new notebook but OS too. If u don't buy a touch screen I would definitely consider sticking to windows 7. The computers power is great and the next gen processor gives you the option to run it for battery or power. A true feature for my gaming or on the go business.

Great computer with great speed and storage, easy learning curve and durable, so many options to accomplish tasks and the touch screen is amazing. I dont like the high glare factor of the screen so much, and in OS usage, when switching to desktop from the windows app tiles and pages opened via there, if you move cursor too much, the display switches back to the windows app page you opened, and the quick tools and clock constantly pop up at random swipes to edge of screen....those faults, although annoying, are far from deterring of the great value this machine has to offer - very enriching.

Hi, First, this laptop is a great value! I use it for work from home uses and as a replacement for a desktop Alienware X51 that I gave my kid brother. While it doesn't play as smoothly (at max settings) as my desktop (hardly to be expected), it does play the games well enough for me to not worry about a gaming desktop replacement until it is a problem. The display is fantastic and that it is a touchscreen is double-whammy bargain. The external subwoofer is weird and I'm not sure how I feel about it but it does work to augment the laptops own speaker system (I use external speaker set). The keyboard and touchpad work well and are comfortable. The design, feel and weight are just about right for the class of laptop that it is (i7, NVidia). Bluetooth and WiFi work well. My only big gripe is that the palm rest just under the left side of the keyboard gets warm enough (not hot) to make playing games or extended work uncomfortable without something in between. What would I change? Nothing, I knew what I was getting. My minor gripe is that occasionally the machine seems to stutter. There are a lot of in-memory programs running to enable the hotkeys, wifi, graphics, etc. but I haven't decided the stuttering to be enough of an inconvenience so as to give up the short-cuts. Would I reconsider? Only if I was interested in spending another 1K or so for another dedicated gaming laptop such as the Razer Edge.

Overall a good unit, Got it because the HP 17" I bought died twice in 6 months, they suggested I pick a different brand. This is a solid good unit. Light weight, Great display (although I wish the had a 17" version) color and graphics are excellent. Stays cool much better than most and has a long battery life. Overall a great unit for the price BUT WINDOWS 8 IS A ROYAL PAIN

I like this laptop a lot. I've been using it for school mainly, and I'm hoping to use it for digital art soon. I would've waited until I got around to that to write this review, but that might be awhile. If I have any issues with it, I'll come back in and add a comment. I've watched some dvds on it and enjoyed the experience. The picture and sound quality were nice. The additional speaker that came with my purchase works very nicely. This has been my first experience using a touch-screen laptop and I really enjoy that aspect of it. I have no complaints about performance where gaming is concerned. For my purposes, I'm only limited by the quality of my internet connection. My only criticism at the moment is that the screen (which is understandable) and all of the other surfaces pickup smudges/dirt/ etc. really easily. Markedly so. The screen itself isn't too hard to clean but the other surfaces seem to hold onto smudges pretty well. Anyway, all in all, I think this laptop is a good multi-tasker. I feel like I could do (basically) whatever I want with it. Which is why I selected this particular model.
