Mediocre with garbage HomeKit connection

I love the size and the fact it doesn't need a separate wifi bridge, but boy does this thing HATE Apple's HomeKit. HomeKit will always read if it's locked or unlocked but it won't actually lock or unlock it, and definitely won't using Siri. My HomePod hub is about 15 feet away and every time I've tried to unlock it via the Home app or Siri, it says it's not connected. I've tried resetting it and reconnecting it a dozen times and August customer support is terrible. If you aren't using HomeKit, then the lock is great. It reads my phone when I get home to auto unlock and auto locks without fail. Just don't expect anything from HomeKit.

Love the convenience it provides to the kids

may not work with mesh routers/deadbolt type

I have done troubleshooting on it, seems that it is because I cannot set my MESH router to consistently serve it a certain frequency. I have the orbi mesh router system. That is what I found out only after I went to extra expense to change my lock to make this compatible. Also this lock only works with single cylinder locks-I had a double cylinder lock (key on both sides). Do your research before you buy this lock to make sure it will work with your current deadbolt and wifi system.

Wrong lock for door.

Do not buy if you want HomeKit integration
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This lock advertises the two simple things I need: -Fits over existing deadbolt lock -Homekit support However, this does not work with HomeKit at all. I've tried following the instructions on both an iPhone, and iPad. The iPhone fails to add the lock to HomeKit with error "object not found" and the iPad fails with a different error. I've tried to add the lock to HomeKit via the Home app, which does add the lock to the Home app. But, once in the home app, you will always see "requires setup" or "no response". The Home app will tell you when it's been manually locked or unlocked, but will never actually control the lock. If you plan on buying this, you'll need to use their dedicated app. Ignore any claims that this works with any existing smart home solution.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We're very sorry to hear about the issues you've experienced with our HomeKit integration. The August Wi-Fi Smart Lock is HomeKit enabled and works in the Home app when in Bluetooth range. If you are not within Bluetooth range of your lock (about 20ft or less) then you will need an Apple bridge within Bluetooth range of the lock in order to access the lock via HomeKit remotely.
