CANT PAIR!App keeps shutting down @ wifi retrieval

I just purchased the Bose 700 soundbar and the 700 module. The soundbar connects to the tv , but when I try and sync (pair) my soundbar to the music app, the app shuts down when it retrieves the "wifi connections" (the step after finding my product to connect). I was not able to pair my soundbar nor my Module to the app, instead I had to hard wire my module to the soundbar with my "Beats" headphone cable (A CABLE THAT'S NOT EVEN PROVIDED BY BOSE?!?!?!....you would think it would come with the system). This is very frustrating because the 700 system is through the app, until the app works with my products, I can not make any adjustments on my 1800$ system..... Yes, I already tried the unplugging the power for 2-3 minutes, resetting the app, uninstalling the app, turning off my phone, turning on and off my WiFi/Bluetooth, pressing the Bluetooth and play/pause button the Bose remote for 5-10 seconds. ALL THE SOLUTIONS HAVE NOT WORKED EXCEPT FOR THE HARD WIRE!! YES, the router/modem is only a few feet away, and yes I tried both 2.4 and 5 internet connections. I do not have any others with any of my other devices, except for this Bose device I pay a good amount of money for.

    No Bass, Seriously - None

After finally setting up the Bose 700 sound bar (took a whopping 5 hours!!), next up was the sub 700. I had hoped it would resolve the tinny sound of the sound bar by bringing up the lower frequencies. Nope. It took 5 tries to get the sub 700 to pair with the clumsy Bose app (don't get me started on that lame software) and then after it was finally set up, practically no sound from it at all. The only way we could tell it was working is putting an ear next to it. Yes, indeed sound was coming out, but nothing at all like our previous Sony system. Combining that with the 5-hr experience of setting up the sound bar, and Bose surround speakers that their power cords don't fit into....this whole system is going right back to the store. I expect a whole lot more from a $2000 sound system. The Bose system is totally not worth your money nor all the time and frustration (and prayer) needed to set the system up.

Bose… Not what it used to be

I have owned many many Bose speaker systems (Lifestyle 6000, 3-2-1, Wave, and on and on…) over the years, and this set of speakers has turned me off the brand for a long while. Purchased this along with the 900 smart soundbar and 700 surround speakers on Memorial Day, set up was not bad, a little too “app dependent” but doable. Everything sounded great for 4 days, then the infamous popping issue started. Litterally unplugged every device that emitts a wireless signal in my house, along with moving the woofer to different locations in the room. Nothing helped. Spent an hour on the phone with Bose and after all that time was told that nothing can be done, return it or run a wire to it. So Best Buy, looks like it’s coming back to you. If I am going to run wires, I will buy better speakers than Bose.

    Major Disapointment

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have no idea how this thing has so many great reviews. It seems like best buy has lumped the Bass Module 700 in with the Acoustimass® 300 wireless bass module. In fact, the vast majority of these reviews are for that product, NOT the Module 700. I got this for Christmas along with the Soundbar 700. The soundbar is great but its functionality with the bass module is extremely disappointing. You can hardly hear any bass coming from this thing. I did a ton of research before buying this and one of the reasons I chose the Bose product were the reviews that referenced a "movie like experience" and "wall rattling bass". My dog's farts rattle the walls more than this thing does. I've reached out to Bose on their forumns and they keep moving my post to a thread that's "solved" even though I've attempted the "solution" in that thread to no avail. Which is terrible customer service and it gives the impression they're trying to hide negative information about this product. My last resort is to call their helpline but I doubt they'll be able to solve the issue. This seems like a case of great hardware being crippled by terrible software. Something in the soundbar isn't correctly transmitting sound to the sub. Either that, or there's a major defect in these newer bass modules. Regardless, this is a major issue that several people have experienced and Bose is ignoring it at best, or trying to hush it up at worst. TL;DR- Bass module hardly makes any noise. The Bose "solution" doesnt actually work. I'll be returning this and purchasing the Samsung soundbar/sub that has Dolby Atmos funtionality.

    Way too complicated

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was super stoked to get this bad boy out and thumping to movies and music, but the setup and trying to get it to connect to anything is not worth the frustration. Way too expensive for a product that takes forever to sync up and connect with other devices and so I never even got to hear it work. Total waste of time. Go with a plug & play device rather than this overly technical overpriced product just because of a name. Bose used to mean great sound. But now it just means a setup that will leave you frustrated and ready to return the product for something easier and less time-consuming.

I have always had great experience with Bose products except this time when I decided to spend top dollar and buy Bose 700 soundbar, bass module and surround speakers. Sub woofer is so powerful that you can't even feel it. But before you even touch to see if it is working you need to pair it first through the app. The odds for this are far worse than winning a lotto. Soundbar on its own sounds great but woofer and surround speakers are hit and a miss. This is a wireless system created for today's age to get away from connecting wires and be minimalist appearance, however it will interfere with your home wifi. This will cause woofer to cause static popping noise. This will also cause your sub woofer and surround speakers to disconnect. If you want to enjoy a nice movie with Bose 700 great soundbar experience then turn your wifi off, reset the whole system and setup everything again. This will cause you frustration for few hours and netflix without wifi. I am returning my unit tomorrow for something else. I could have waited if Bose would have acknowledged the issues and promised a fix or recall. However till now Bose thinks that their unit is state of the art product. 100's of users out there don't know what they are talking about. Yes, I am one of those. I feel sorry for their tech support who are aware of the flaws and on loop with similar instructions for every consumer. Bose it's still not too late. There's still time to make this right. Please don't reply with similar instructions or questions on my install process and placement. Trust me for last 2 months I have followed all threads and instructions. There's nothing that has worked till now. I am not going to keep this product anyway and I hope my review will help people save frustration and money. When you spend top dollar then you should get the best value. In this case, you get frustrated and embarrassed in front of family and friends.

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to review this product today.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Bass Module 700.

When you first set up your Soundbar and Bass Module, did you run the AdaptiQ feature? This is a calibration technology that will adjust levels to ensure you are receiving the best sound possible from your system.

If you are still experiencing a lack of bass, I would recommend connecting the Bass Module with the interconnect cable to see if the bass is being affected by interference when connected wirelessly.

If the issue persists and you are still unhappy, please get in touch with our Customer Service team and they will be more than happy to assist you with this matter.

      Have a great day.

This speaker worked great for about 2 years and ever since then has been randomly making a popping sound. Tried re-positioning within the room and disconnecting all other wireless devices within range with the same result. In our household we have 2 soundbar 700’s, 3 bass module 700’s and Bose surround speakers. This type of quality is unacceptable. I refuse to string an audio cord to the “wirelesss subwoofer”. Bose may lose a loyal customer as a result…

Hi, thank you for reaching out. It is surprising you have had a popping noise from the bass module. When we request trying a wired connection, this is simply to test for interference and is not something we expect you to need to do on a permanent basis. Plugging the bass module directly into an outlet instead of a power strip can also eliminate interference. We can also send out another power cord to see if this stops the bass module popping. I would also recommend trying a different power cord which our customer support team: https://bose.life/3nTDo5H

Bose Module 300 kicked the bucket after a few years. I have tried pairing and even hard wiring the unit with a 3.5 mm audio cable. Now its a worthless product that cost me around $700. THis has happened to others. Read up in the Bose Community Center.

I had received the product about 3 weeks back. I set it up immediately to enjoy the rich bass everyone was raving about in the reviews. I went through the steps in the manual to connect (wirelessly) the sub, but several tries later the white light on the SoundTouch did not remain on - after several blinks. Finally, I went over their forums and found that only the sub's white light would remain on and the one on the Soundbar will go off. Then, I started to play some music (I had my soundbar connected to my desktop) from Foobar, though Soundbar gave the output, as it usually did - I did not feel any bass/effect from the sub. Then on to the forum again - my issues were similar to the one specified here - https://community.bose.com/t5/SoundTouch-Speakers/SoundTouch-300-sub-surround-sync-problems/td-p/19446 Then, I connected my aux cable (not given with the sub or soundbar) from soundtouch to Soundbar, then too there was no effect at all. Wait for it, I realized late that there was just a feeble output from the sub. So, I tried to contact their hotline support - 877-751-8329, during their normal working hours, but their automated message kept saying that the office is closed and I should be contacting them during normal working hours. Duh?! I was calling them between 9am to 9pm. :-P After several retries, I accidentally kept the call going, and then I was patched to a waitlist, and after hanging for 30mins, I disconnected. This happened for couple of more tries. I was flustered! Currently, a Bose rep said he would help troubleshoot it tomorrow (1/6). Let's see how that goes. I'll post and update soon.

Why? Simply because Bose has - for as long as they've been in business - never quoted their speakers' frequency response specifications. Sure, you say! But they sound so good! They should, for the $ you will have to spend and if you buy them with your eyes (big mistake). I'll pass, now and forever...

Hello guydean, than you for taking the time to share your thoughts. You are correct that Dr. Bose chose early on to focus on the most important aspect of our products - the listening experience. The metrics of wattage, frequency response, etc. are all very useful in a laboratory setting but do not adequately describe the experience of live music. We hope that in the future you may choose to enjoy the most faithful reproduction of the live music experience we are able to create! Best Regards, Greg - Bose Support Bose

Worst product I have ever purchased! Horrible!

Product is one of the worst I have ever purchased. I previously owned a Sonos and traded it in for this device which was the biggest mistake and waste of money I have ever made. Constant issues with the Soundtouch app and fades in and out with horrible sound and shows on and off in the app. Bose just does not have wireless sound nailed down and it is apparent with the entire Soundtouch line including the soundbar. The sound is not Bose quality and I traded this whole package in and went back to Sonos which has wireless sound cornered. Do yourself a favor, do not waste your money. I have a pretty simple set up with a Sony 4K TV and Roku and Fios and with constant issues with the HDMI Arc and the app crashing and updates not making a difference this is not ready for prime time and in my eyes will never be ready!

I have the sound bar 700 and the bass 700 and the bass stops sounding, it loses connection with the bar, I have to unplug and plug it back in to make it sound again and after 20 min the connection is lost again. Sorry to hear that you are having a connection issue between the soundbar and the bass module. This is more likely to be caused by interference. I would suggest trying to connect the bass module using a 3.5 mm stereo male-to-male - Shielded cable to the soundbar. If the issue persists after that, please contact our support team on this link: https://bose.life/3InLhcB

For $700 this is junk. I bought the Soundbar 700 which is good, but lacking bass. This base module 700 connected wirelessly on the first day, but sounded mediocre compared to other subs in its price range. The next day the sub wouldn't connect to the soundbar and after hours of trying the app couldn't pick it up. Too much of a hassle for the price. Terrible!

      Hi Rich,

I'm glad to hear you've been enjoying your soundbar so far. I'd be happy to help you with your bass module so you can get the best sound possible from your system!
If you find the bass module is not providing enough bass, you'll want to run the ADAPTiQ process on the soundbar, to tune the sound to your room. ADAPTiQ will adjust the sound of the system to give you the best possible sound from your room. You can find how to run ADAPTiQ here: https://bose.life/2yWfsc2 You can also further increase the amount of bass from the Audio settings page in the app to personalize the sound even more.
If you find the app is unable to find the soundbar, then the troubleshooting at this link will get this up and running correctly for you! https://bose.life/3lpjP1z

    Major Software Issues

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We are so very disappointed with our 2.5 y/o 300 series system. Bose's software updates are so buggy. Our system has gone from problematic out of the box to not working at all after the latest software update. We have read many forums trying to troubleshoot the issue to no avail. Most all of the complaints posted to the forums are similar in nature. You would think Bose would be concerned but they don't seem to be working towards a viable solution. I won't be purchasing Bose again.
