    Loading paper inconvenience

Prints well, but bottom try, which holds paper, is very awkward when loading. You have to pull whole tray out to load and top falls off. You have to put back together to put tray back in…it is just inconvenient, especially the price you pay for the printer, and the trays seem to be of not the best quality

The only complaint I have is that I can't figure out how to print in landscape. There's no option on the print menu and no 11*8.5 option that I can find. Outside of that easy set up and great quality printing.

Nice Upgrade for Modest Home or Small Business Use

This seems to be geared more for a small business than a home printer - it is rather bulky. But it offers a document feeder and 2-sided printing in color, and a fast print speed - all making printing a pleasure rather than an ordeal. Print quality is very good for home use. Perhaps for printing color flyers and handouts for a business you may want a printer that prints colors more vividly, however. I have not owned it long enough to evaluate the "mileage" of the INKvestment tanks, of course. I set it up as a USB connection to a laptop. Setup went smoothly. Instructions for setting paper tabs in paper trays seemed a bit convoluted, but marks molded into the plastic trays help the user push and pull and turn everything properly. I found that I had a "favorite" or "most used" configuration that I just left alone, and all was fine. There is a sheet feeder in the back top of the unit that holds a modest number of sheets. If the paper in the single large paper tray runs out during a print job, and the same size and type of paper are available in the sheet feeder, the printer will use those while also sending out a "Paper Empty" notice. So you will not have a job stop mid-way through unless its page count overwhelms the sheet feeder stock. The printer runs more quietly than most. The LCD screen displays useful information, including status of a job in progress. It is big enough for normal fingers to hit the correct spot pretty much all the time.

    Terrible Printer

I have used the Canon Pixma InkJet Printer for years, normally replacing every couple of years after virtually trouble free use. I bought the Brother J5845DW a little over a year ago thinking it would be a better printer, but have had nothing but problems. Minor issues abound, like jagged underlining, while major problems are also frequent. For example, it currently has five columns 1/4" in width down the middle of a page of print. And the heads clog ever 2 or 3 weeks (seriously). And yes, i use OEM ink, and have performed head alignment and head cleaning MULTIPLE times. And this thing cost 3 times what the canon costs, it's a piece of junk. I've had it....

This printer meets all my needs. Had a little trouble figuring out how to direct print to the MP tray, but got it worked out. My mistake was in trying to use the menu which works for copying, but to print a file the Print screen that pops up on the computer screen is the way to go. LP

I love Brother AIO products and have been very satisfied with the quality and performance. I previously owned a MFC-J6910DW for 8 years; the only fax/copier/printer/scanner that has lasted longer than all other AIO fax/copier/scanner/printers invested in.

So far I am very satisfied with this product, my only complaint is that the paper adjustment guides do not go small enough to print on 3x5 index cards.

I love the idea of the larger and more economic ink cartridges. Its quick, and print quality even on draft is amazing. Would buy it over again and I highly recommend!

After searching for several months for a printer that would deliver high quality printed materials, I decided on the Brother. I am glad I did. The set up was easy and I was able to print right away. I am happy with this purchase.

I thought it would be better. Purchased based on the company name. The printer jams and is difficult to clear. Also has leaked ink inside on a couple of occasions.

I love this printer. I have been a fan of Brother since 2004 when I purchased my first one. It lasted me up until last month when I purchased this one. With more than 17 years use from the last one, it was a no brainer to purchase Brother again.

This printer, copier, scanner and fax far exceeded my expectation. The pdf writer built into the scanner is worth the price. Could not be happier.

This printer does everything and at a very reasonable price. We use the printer very often for picture and high volume printing. Ink cartridges are very long lasting.

There is a reason that this printer is always sold out. Performs like a champ and I'm not thinking about how much ink I'm using. Brother always delivers on what they say and of course it is a great value.

    Unhappy camper

Where to begin? Aside from the fact that the included DVD made a loud, irritating beeping noise, and kept hanging up in the reader, the printer wouldn't get connected to the router until I repeated the steps 6 or 7 times, and when it did finally connect to my desktop (running Windows 7), and I printed out a picture, after cleaning the print heads, the colors were nowhere near what the picture resembled. I then tried to connect it to my wife's desktop running Windows10, the DVD stopped working altogether. After trying several other methods of getting it added to our network, I decided I needed to get some tech support. Brother's only tech support is chatting with someone. I don't have the time to invest in not being able to have a "face to face" conversation. That was yesterday. This morning when I went to print a document, I got the message on the printer that it was no longer connected to the network. As far as Best Buy's tech support, talking to a computer that keeps asking the same question is frustrating at best. So, in view of the stroke level frustration of not being able to connect it to my wife's computer, not being able to keep it connected to my desktop, and not getting any satisfactory tech support, I will be packing it up and returning it. Since the review will not be accepted without a quality or value grade, and I can't rate either as I haven't been able to use the product I'll give them both "poor" grades.
