This webcam has a nice design. It is simple and easy to figure out. The gray/black face looks good, but personally, I would rather have it all black to match my monitor or TV set. The mount is fairly big, and it extends a bit too far down, which makes it visible due to my monitor’s super-thin bezels. The mount also doubles as a stand, and, while not being as stable as I would prefer, for the most part, it works well. I appreciated that the camera can also be mounted on a camera stand or tripod. Oh, and I like the fact that the camera has a sliding privacy cover.
The camera can be connected via micro-USB to USB and, thankfully, the cord is removable should a longer cable be needed. Since the camera is plug-n-play, one only needs to connect it and the operating system will automatically recognize it.
The camera features a resolution of 1080p/30fps. As far as the picture quality, I was a bit disappointed as it is decent at best. I tried it in different settings and in different applications. The camera did work as expected and I was told that I looked alright. However, any bright spots take over the overall picture, and then it becomes too grainy in darker conditions. I will say that the microphone is quite good. I was able to be heard clearly in a large room without too much distortion.
So, in the end, I think this is a decent webcam. It does what it is designed to do without any complications or hassles. While I was hoping to get a better picture quality, I must mention that the price is quite reasonable. I will certainly recommend this for anyone that does not have a 1080p camera on their desktop. However, for anyone that has a laptop with a built-in camera, perhaps this is not the upgrade you are looking for.

Powerhouse Camera in a Slim, Attractive Package

I admit, I was not expecting great things with the CODi HD 1080P WebCam. I had a larger Webcam that sits on my monitor from a company that advertises frequently; I was unfamiliar with this Codi HD Camera. My wife needed a high resolution Webcam for a National Conference that was cancelled & replaced with an In-Home Conference where participation with a HD Webcam was required. I selected it primarily because of it's 1080P specification. I was blown away by the premium quality, high level of detail, super ease of set-up & the slim, attractive package.
This camera is precision built. It sits on top of my wife's 34" 4K Monitor or on a laptop with a foldable bracket.
To set it up, on MacOS, simply plug it into USB. On Windows 10, plug it in, go to the Start Menu. Select Camera, then select this camera if the laptop already has a camera built-in.
The slim camera body is approximately 1/6th the size of the Logitech WebCam on my computer, yet it offers the same 1080P & the photo & video quality are supurb!
Switch selectable between 4:3 Ratio for a conventional photo or 16:9 Ratio for a wide panorama.
CONCLUSION: I highly recommend the CODi HD 1080P WebCam. It offers everything you might want in a WebCam. It exceeds expectations & has earned a permanent place on my wife's 34" 4K Monitor.

Perfect for this new videoconferencing environment

CODi HD 1080P WebCam
This CODi Full HD 1080p Webcam provides high-quality (1920 x1080) video and sound at a reasonable price. It covers a 70 degree field of view and has dual omni directional microphones. The CODi works with both Windows and Mac OS and connects via a USB-A port. It’s plug-and-play, so no drivers are required and it’s compatible with most video conference apps (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, GoToMeeting, Facebook Messenger, Cisco, FaceTime and more).
To help make it easy to use, it has auto-focus, And it’s not bulky at 2” wide x 3” high x 4” deep.
There’s a separate small privacy cover that you can place over the video lens when you’re not using the Webcam and want to be assured of complete privacy. It’s a separate small plastic piece, so it’s easy to overlook when you’re unpacking the device. It would be nice if this privacy cover were permanently attached to the Webcam instead of being a separate piece. If it were, you could simply slide it off and on the video lens without fear of losing it. As it is, it can fall off when trying to attach or remove it and it could easily be lost between uses.
I used the CODi Webcam to replace an older webcam that I’ve had for years. That change provided me with a huge improvement in both the video and sound quality in my test video conferences.
It comes with a one-year limited warranty for parts and labor.
This CODi Webcam is ideal for today’s work-at-home environment for business conferencing as well as for those video visits with friends and family. Highly recommended.

Best for Basic Needs

My experience with this camera has been average at best. The picture and sound quality are just okay, but the video quality has a bit of graininess to it. This product is best suited for situations in which only the bare minimum is required such as a child needing a camera for at-home schooling or someone wanting to use a webcam for a brief meeting/video. Due to the shortage of stand-a-alone webcams in the market, this product could be useful to someone. The webcam does support the use of a tripod, and has a detachable lens cover. However, be careful with attaching the lens cover because it does seems like it could break easily.

The camera is a plug in play device. I was up and ready to go in less than 2 minutes. I used it for my zoom calls and the sound quality was good and the picture quality was also good. No issues connecting or with the video or sound. The camera has a base that folds and can be hung on the computer. The only issue I have is that the cord plugs into the back of the camera so the camera cannot be placed in the middle of the top edge of the screen. It has to be set on the edge of the screen. I was very pleased with the camera and would recommend it.

I have been working from Home since the start of COVID. A big part of my day is Investor and Board Meeting video conference calls. To help unify our image, our firm held training for video conferencing best practices. I selected the CODi Webcam because it is Compact, Durable, and Versatile. I travel between two homes so I am not always working out of the same spot. I noticed the webcam adjusts well to different lighting and different acoustics. Setup was plug and play, easy to use. No complaints here – I have recommended this to my partners.

When I first received the package I was surprised at how small it was. Once opened I realized that it was just the webcam and cable and it did not need any programs to install. This was the main thing I liked about it. Ease of use...just plug and go. The camera is easy to set up and to attach to your laptop or computer monitor, although perhaps a bit bulky for a laptop. I do really like the sliding lens cover. No need to remove or worry about losing the cover, as others mentioned.
As for the quality of the audio and image...I found that the audio worked well. I did however feel that the image quality on my laptop webcam was a bit brighter and clearer than on this webcam. The quality was a bit dark and a little grainy. However, if you are just needing this for basic use, for example a student doing virtual school, then this would work nicely.

When I first pulled this bad boy out of the box, I immediately noticed how well made it feels. It's got a little weight to it and just feels reliable. I plugged it in and the video quality is excellent and the microphone picks up sound very well. Very happy with my purchase!

This webcam exceeded my expectations. I’m on calls all day and have never had an issue with the Codi webcam. It’s responsive and the photo/video quality displays nicely. The light indicator is a great feature, letting me know when it’s live or not. The privacy cover is good, too. Gets the job done at a decent price.

I love this CODi web cam - pure quality! Invest in yourself, especially now we're working from home and visiting virtually. Within 5-10 mins, straight out of the box I was up and running with great clarity and sound. I was frustrated by the built in camera in my PC - its placement was low, meaning it gave a great view up my nose and had NO adjustments, plus it vibrated and had poor performance. Is this the image I wanted to convey at work or when on calls with loved ones? NO.
The CODi looks and feels like a professional piece of photo equipment, has elegant brushed metal and flat black trim in a compact form, yet conveys sturdiness and quality - unlike the Logitech with its glossy "fingerprint magnet" finish and bulky size. With the CODi my calls are clearer visually and when speaking, and others are asking what I'm using. Plus it looks and works well on both my Mac and Windows setups - go for it!

I’ve been working from home since March and started off using an old webcam I found in the basement. After seeing my picture next to others on Zoom I definitely needed an upgrade. I purchased this one, it came fast and it was a plug and play install. I’ve only had it for a week and it’s a great quality webcam. No one could really see me on my old webcam but now the image is crystal clear.

Sturdy device for teleconferencing
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is a well-built, sturdy device that works well to provide a 16:9 video image for teleconferencing. I may be missing something, but I see no switch that will allow it to capture a 4:3 image ratio. Maximum frame rate is 30fps, and this does produce graininess in the image, particularly in lower light settings.
Set up is the simplest thing ever; all I had to do with my HP and Microsoft devices was plug it in, and it worked.
I have the webcam mounted on a tripod, as the device is very distracting sitting on the top edge of a laptop screen.
I have asked several of my teleconferencing colleagues to compare the quality of the images they see with the laptop webcam (720p) and the Codi. Most say the Codi image is better and more highly detailed, but the difference is small.
I can definitely recommend this webcam for anyone who needs a solid, serviceable device for teleconferencing, whether for education or business. I would not recommend it for anyone wanting to make videos. Also, if your computer display already has a built-in 720p webcam, the Codi is a definite but modest upgrade.

good webcam for price

ok so for the price, its not a bad webcam. but first let me explain some of the things i dont like.
cord length. its about 5 feet. for me with a webcam i think it needs to be longer. you want that extra length to be able to move camera around.
with the length another thing with this camera is that you can adjust it up and down, but the only way you can adjust it side to side it by moving the whole camera side to side on your monitor. you cant turn it. so if you want that freedom, you would have to get a tripod.
lack of having its own software. would be nice to have software that you can use to record with. like be able to go into the software, and select to have 2 screens, one a mini screen for webcam and then the other your game. and then record from that. maybe even have a way like zoom i believe, that you could have a green screen background etc.
the quality is the biggest one i would say. being 1080p i was hoping a little better but then its a cheaper webcam. and i believe its only 30fps so that might be part as well. but it was a little grainy. if you are on a budget, its not bad and it will work for now if you are looking to stream. if you have a child doing school from home, or you work from home and need a webcam, again it will work for that. For me, i have a 2 pc setup for streaming. so this works either on my main pc if i want a quick record and not have to turn on my second pc or unplug my webcam. it also works great to set up as a second webcam for capturing screen, or hands etc.
something to note, that for me is no big deal. the mic quality is also just ok. granted most webcams are this way. and for me, if you are maybe using to stream, if this will be your main webcam (till you can get a better one) you probably already have a mic anyways. either via a headset with a mic, or a stand alone mic. and if this is acting as a second webcam which its great for, then same thing, you are getting this just for a webcam. if you have a child or even getting for work or whatever reason not streaming. maybe to talk with family via zoom, facebook etc. then the mic will get the job done.
ok so some things that i do like. the price i feel is not that bad for it.
it was easily mounted on my monitor. felt pretty sturdy.
it has a plastic piece that came in the package that you snap onto the webcam (before doing this, there is plastic tape over the front so take that off first). but once placed on, you just slide it side to side. if you want webcam cover you just slide it over. so you dont have to keep taking it off and on. simple but, these simple things are what i like to see.
it was simple to use. just plug it in and i was able to use it with most of my programs. facebook, zoom and then OBS and ACTION which those 2 are what i use to stream or record.
so overall i just give it a 3 star. quality was a little grainy to it.
would i recommend this webcam. like i said, depends on what you need it for. if streaming, i would suggest trying to get a higher end camera that is a lot more clear. but if on a budget for now, then it will work. and if you already have a great webcam for streaming and just want a second webcam then its a great option for that.
if you dont stream, and you are looking to a camera for basic needs like i mentioned. like kids school, facetime, facebook etc. and dont mind it being a tad grainy. then its a great option for sure.

The clarity of the video coming from this camera is excellent. The colors are very vivid and they adjust well as the camera transitions. It has the ability to be attached to a tripod which I found very useful. It was very simple to unbox and setup; the initial process was completed by my 11-year-old and he used the camera to attend his classes while school was strictly virtual. He also used the camera to record a couple presentations for school and said that it was very easy for him to make the videos, although he did say it would have been more useful if there were more options, even something as simple as zooming out or changing to black and white. Overall it's a great starter webcam, very useful for online communication.
