Great gathering of actors in non-traditional roles, having a great time under the indomitable fun natured spirit of Jon Favreau's directing. Looks like a sequel should have been green lit, but sometimes less is more. Just ask the British star best known for his role as the current James Bond. All I can say is gamble on this title on sale now at BestBuy.com and you can come back and click HELPFUL on this review after a screening. I had mixed expectations about Cowboys and Aliens. At first I was quite intrigued by the over-all idea of mixing a western with a sci-fi, and also having Jon Favreau direct such a film greatly boosted my lust to watch this film. However it got mixed reviews and did not seem to stay in theaters for too long. I should have known better to listen to the negative reviews. Cowboys and Aliens is a very fun movie which is a western drama wrapped in an alien action movie. I am not a fan of western movies at all, however with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford at the helm in this movie, I knew to look past my reservations about western flicks.Even though it has a fast pasted start, Cowboys and Aliens does not waive from building a character. Harrison Ford in particular has a very strong disposition and I felt as though I could relate to his personality and character the most. Daniel Craig did a great job for such a complicated role he had. I was blown away by the special effects, yes you could tell that they were CGI, however they were done very well and blended in perfectly with the environment. The sound effects also were very well done. The picture and audio quality of this Blu-ray are some of the best I have ever seen and heard. The PQ in particular was breathtaking. There was little to no grain and the depth and clarity were outstanding throughout. The bonus features were also great. Many movies lately seem to leave out bonus features which we all take the time to enjoy. Over-all I am very happy with my blind buy and greatly enjoyed this movie. Some friends came over, and out of the hesitant six of us, we all loved it. Much better than expected. Highly recommended and quite enjoyable.

This should not have worked as a legitimate movie. Maybe as a phony preview on Tarantino's Grindhouse double feature. But they went ahead and made it, got Ford and Craig to chew up the scenery and a number of great supporting actors to flesh out the movie. And, then there is Oliva Wilde. I would watch her read the Yellow Pages. The movie does not rush getting to the 'good stuff'. Takes the time needed to introduce the characters. This actually could have just gone on to be a pretty good Western. Where the plot thins is that none of these late 1800's people seem to be all that amazed by the aliens and their technology. That aside, pretty good fun. Classic use of the enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend concept as cowboys, Indians, townspeople, criminals, cattlemen, all join forces. And don't forget Olivia Wilde. As for the bluray, a very good transfer. Video is terrific, as is the sound. If you have a decent sound system, especially a good subwoofer, this one really takes off.

"Cowboys and Aliens" was an intriguing film. The movie starts off great with the mysterious stranger who doesn't know who he is. The events that unfold with a mysterious attack in broad daylight to the town being attacked by the aliens for an unknown reason. This film has a great cast and is definitely worth checking out.

As a collector of blu-rays, I absolutely love this blu-ray of Cowboys & Aliens. Thank you Best Buy for selling this blu-ray and making it available to collectors like myself. If you are a collector and looking for the best place to purchase Cowboys & Aliens, look no further then Best Buy, you'll be glad you did. Cheers!

I usually only buy Blu-Ray movies if and only they have the Digital Copy since I collect Digital Copies. And I usually give the hard copies to family members. It would of been a better deal if it had a DVD disc as well just as most Blu-Ray films come with. It was a steal getting a blu-ray disc plus the Digital Copy though. However I would anticipate these Blu-rays getting cheaper around the $5 mark with the roll out of 4K content. Regardless, its a good film at a good price. Plus, Olivia Wilde is in it. Can't say no to that.

Good original idea- western meets sci-fi, with a GREAT cast! Special effects were good, story was good, ending was pretty good. I liked seeing Daniel Craig in a non-Bond role. Harrison Ford in a sci-fi film? YES! Way before Ender's Game, it was a pleasure to see him on screen, not playing baseball. Clancy Brown is great- wish he had a bigger longer-lasting role, and Paul Dano is just awesome. Rockwell, Huss (loved him in Carnivale) plus directed by Favreau! Pretty solid and yet glad there wasn't a sequel made with a different cast. Fun film- not too dark, not too silly.

You should watch this movie expecting a great check-your-brain-at-the-door flick, and it doesn't disappoint on that count. There are wild west gunfights, love interests, and aliens trying to take over the world -- what more could you ask for? Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde are residents of an old western town attacked by what a local preacher calls "demons." Those demons -- what we call aliens -- pillage and plunder, terrifying the locals and motivating them to drop old rivalries to defeat the new threat.

Jon Favreau must have loved this concept, but the film falls short in a number of categories. It was a little too serious, and some favorite characters don't make it to the end. Fine for something like The Searchers or The Wild Bunch, but this Western is also a spoof. Sometimes I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Odd to see Harrison Ford playing such a nasty character, but I guess it shows he has range.

I do like the movie. It is not as good as I thought it would be, but I've watched it twice now. With some distance from the last viewing, I seem to like it a bit more. I think a part of my issue is that with a title such as "Cowboys and Aliens", I thought that this movie would be a bit more fun and not as drama filled. Thought there isn't so much drama as Fords other movies, one does come to mind that mixed drama and humor well, "The Hunt For Red October".

First, I would have rated this movie 4 1/2 stars- not quite excellent, but better than good (the rating system doesn't allow for 1/2 stars).The stars (Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde) and the production make what could have been a silly idea (Cowboys and Aliens) a great action movie. The cinematography is stunning, and the pace doesn't drag. This movie is recommended for any and all sci-fi and action fans.

Keep in mind that my review is based on the extended edition and not the theatrical one. Movie was a fun romp and an excellent take on the "Cowboys and Indians" type of flick. The extended edition had more to offer in the story which helped out in fleshing out key characters, but I wish it was a bit longer to help further out the supporting cast. All in all, it's a fun popcorn movie!

This will become a cult classic. Great headliner stars and somewhat plausible story-line set in the late 1800's and well acted. You have "James Bond" and "Indiana Jones" vs. Aliens in the US old west; why not? At least on par with all the other alien visitation movies, except PAUL which is in a comedic class all its own. This is good entertainment; as I like to say, "chewing gum for the eyeballs." Bought the DVD, so I can watch on TV and on the road, when work gets you down.

This film is unusual in the sense that it has cowboys fighting aliens. Featuring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, the scenes change quickly. Almost immediately everyone learns the aliens are not friendly. If you enjoyed this film at the theater, you can add it to your library for a very low price.

Presentation/Availability: Product was well packaged with no broken/opened box. There were many available at the store. Performance: Good movie for the family. Customer service: EXCELLENT customer service. I was greeted by an employee as soon as I walked through the door.

I have always loved sci fi and westerns so this was at the top of my list to see. It was great. What a ride. This movie is well thought out and cast with A+actors. Excellent. Added this one too our collection. You won't be disappointed. I would suggest the unrated version. It's a little more graffic but the cg in this is A+also. Have fun with this one! B. Beckner

I was completely surprised when I found myself enjoying this wild west romp with aliens. The film has well choreographed action sequences, some excellent acting from the cast and taunt directions as well. I don't know many action adventure lovers who would not enjoy seeing this film. Live a little and give it a shot.

I was really hesitant on purchasing this movie, as I hadn't heard much about it and it seemed a little corny - so I was skeptical, but it was cheap so I went ahead and got it. The story was actually pretty good and filled with scenes that held my attention throughout the entire ordeal. A surprisingly good one...

Enjoyed the special effects, yes, ok, you could tell that they were CGI, however they were done very well and blended nicely with the sound effects on my surround system. I purchased this movie with mixed reviews from various people, but overall I am very happy and enjoyed it. It was better than expected.

The title is silly, but it is a good movie. There are good actors in the movie that play believable parts. The plot is good, but it could have had a bit more humor. Nonetheless, I found it to be fun. I would recommend it. Get the blu ray, dvd and UV digital copy. Very good deal for what I paid.
