    Great series, great set

As a long time fan of the series, both old and new, I would say that the 9th series is an improvement upon the prior season. Moffat has a leaning toward plot over character, and so, a series full of 2-parters lets his storytelling shine better than in prior seasons. That said, no series is perfect, and there are a few clunkers this season. But, it is overall an improvement in quality. The set itself is an improvement as well, with more special features and commentaries than the previous series sets. It also contains 2 holiday specials given the timing of the series and how long we will have to wait for the next series to air. Overall, an improvement all around.

    12 is Getting Better...Still Doesn't Click

I've been a fan of the series off and on since I was 12. Watched the 4th and 5th Doctors on PBS, and even caught the occasional 1 and 2 series there. Been watching since the 2005 reboot and have liked each of the actors in the role and thought I would like Capaldi as well...I have had a hard time enjoying his character, and it isn't his fault. his acting is good, but I feel the writing has not given him a chance. After a rough season/series 8 the 9th season is an improvement. Less focused on Clara and more on the Doctor...this helps the version of the character grow some. But it still falls into the current Moffit trend of trying to build a giant puzzle out of the season...easter eggs like the words Bad Wolf or Vote Saxon in earlier seasons were fun when they paid off, but Moffit tries to make the audience feel dumb for missing the clues. Fingers crossed season 11 with a new crew writing and directing will breath new life into the show.

This set has everything for the Whovian. It features all of the episodes from the previously releases of Series 9, Part One and Part Two, plus the Christmas specials, Last Christmas and The Husbands of River Song. It also includes all of the special features. That means it contains all of the content of four separate releases.

Its hardwired structure that requires major change every so often is one of the main reasons Doctor Who is thriving 50+ years after it debuted. As someone who started watching back when Tom Baker was The Doctor, I can safely say that this season/series has one of the best episodes of the entire run of the show: Heaven Sent. Yes, it's that good.

Another excellent season with some small quibbles. Most of the season consists of 2 part episodes which was annoying when watching live, not so much on the blu ray. I found Clara's exit as awkward and unfulfilling as the Ponds. And overall the season was quite dark. Lots of extras on the set. Get it on sale and it's a good buy.

After the fourth series, I thought that the show couldn't get any better. After the sixth series, I thought that this house of cards has to tumble soon because it can't sustain the greatness. Then the ninth series happened, and I'm so glad it did. As far as extras go, in a post-RTD world, this is as good as it gets.

The doctor is in. I must admit I wasn't originally a fan until my son got me into this series. It is absolutely wonderful entertainment and can be view by the entire family (unlike so many other shows on TV today). Three cheers for Peter Capaldi, now i if i can only keep track of which # doctor we are on now.....

The Adventure continues with the Travels of the Doctor and Clara ! New Worlds and New Aliens with The return of an Old Foe and the creation of a new recurring character who seems to have one up on the Doctor. Plus the discovery of what was Lost to him which is now found. Don't miss an Episode of Season 9

I love when I can find this show at a good price at Best Buy. They almost always have it at a better price right when the show comes out on DVD/Bluray, which makes it the place I always look to make sure I'm getting the best price. The show is great and getting a good price makes it better.

Peter Capaldi represents the true qualities and spirit of the character of the Doctor. If you're familiar with the classic series, you won't be disappointed with his performance. I would describe him as a mixture of William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee, somewhat cratchety yet warm and dashing.

I have been a Dr Who fan since the 1960's when Tom Baker was the current Dr. They are all different but I guess I get use to each of the different modern Dr.'s the past 9 years and they all become special to me. This season 9 is no different and if you are like me just get it. Worth it.

Fell in love with this series and knew that I needed add the BluRays to my library as they became available. (Especially since Netflix no longer streams the series). Anyway, I recommend this series to anyone looking for an amazing storyline. I love the Doctor Who series.

The 12th Doctor at his Best

This season of the 12th Doctor's is vastly improved and overcame the uneven tone of his first season. The biggest change in this series is the number of two part stories that still exist into an overall arc of events. Even more impressive is Capaldi's solo performance in an episode that makes "Groundhog Day" look like a walk in the park. Also an added bonus is the closure to the River Song story line in "The Husbands of River Song."

I bought this series for my husband, so he can try the new doctor, Capaldi. This box has the whole ninth series, a better value than the previous edition, two half-series sets at a higher total price. I hope he doesn't read this review before his Birthday! :-)

I enjoy Dr Who consistently. The episodes are always interesting and stimulating to the imagination. I like the current Doctor and Companion even though I hear they are going on hiatus. It's always a good way to kick back and know you can enjoy a good program.

The season ended the way I expected it to. Capaldi really shines as Doctor as well some memorable jokes (The Doctors appearance in The Witches Apprentice is the greatest) as well as one of the most epic speeches the series has produced (The Zygon Inversion)

While some may complain, Capaldi has truly shined this past season as the Doctor. Between his war speech in the Zygon duology to carrying an entire episode as the only speaking character, he has done things that other Doctors have not this season.

Doctor Who fans have to shell out big bucks for these sets, but at least this time they included an entire 12 episode season and 2 Christmas Specials. Throw in a ton of bonus features and the fact that this set shows the end of Companion Clara's run on the series (the longest for any Companion so far) and you have a must have set. I recommend it to all.
