This Mesh Router System is a BEAST!

    |
    Posted .
Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.

After extensive research, I went with this Mesh Router System. Less than 2 years earlier, I purchased a Linksys Velop, dual band mesh router system (2 nodes). I should be able to download 700mbps through xfinity. The day before I purchased my Eero pro system, I was only pulling down 70mbps (it was dying). Obtaining a DHCP lease from my Xbox and Ecobee was nearly impossible. I should have gotten a few more years out of it. I’ll never go Linksys again. The app on the eero system is MUCH better. The Linksys App was duplicating my devices. I can group my devices associated with my kids. I no longer need my Disney Circle to pause connectivity with my children. I think my only gripe is Eero wants me to pay for ad blocking, and spyware tracking. It just provides stats without any detail. I am on a month long trial at the moment. Not really worth it in my opinion (no justification for me to pay 2.99 a month). It is a bit pricey, but I had a hundred bucks in coupons from BB and NewEgg had it listed for 40 bucks cheaper. BB matched the price, so do some price comparisons before purchasing. My wife originally balked at the pricing. Now, she sings it’s praises. I can easily pull up my ring cams without the wait I had with my Linksys Velop. You won’t be disappointed with this system!!

    Wifi issues fixed!!

My son started complaining about being kicked off his Xbox One when playing online. Keep losing wifi or not enough speed. So I bought a high boost/high range router but couldn't get it to work. To that back and picked up this system. With this system it came with 3 boxes. I hard wired the 1st box to the router in the basement, put the second one on the main level, then the 3rd box is in my sons room and hard wired to his Xbox One. Since then he has had no issues. You can wire up to each box for internet or use the wifi. So now we use the comcast wifi for our home network and use the eero network for all of our phones, tablets, gaming & guest use. Highly recommend buying this system if your having wifi strength issues! Also you download an app in which you can monitor which devices are the most data etc. Can even do restrictions and turn off times for the little ones (devices) that want to play online all night!

    A+++++ Product

I live in an old 4700 sq. ft. house that has thick plaster and metal lathe behind all the walls so I got so tired of having multiple routers throughout my home and the struggle of trying to hide ethernet cords. I bought the eero pro, and subsequently one additional eero pro and one becon, and the internet works exceptionally well now! Awesome product, 100% recommend.

First of all wifi speed improved significantly. Second, I have wifi in all areas, garage, pool, front and back yard, everywhere. Third, the software allows me to control my kids. You create profiles where internet will be paused according to the schedule you decide. You can pause devices any time as well. Last but not least super easy installation and user friendly app. I have recommended it to many friends and we all are happy. I purchased this on 2018 and no complains so far.

Great new addition for my eero network. Needed an extra one for my pool house, pretty much plug and play and automatically connected to my existing eero network! Strongly recommend if you want to extend your network.

    Great speeds and performance

    Posted .

Let me first start with my incoming internet speed. I have Comcast Xfinity Extreme Pro internet (600 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up). I switched from Xfinity cable to Youtube TV recently because I live in Richmond, VA (the best beer city in the world) and the only cable/internet option for my area of Richmond is Comcast and they do not carry the ACC Network. I have never rented Comcast equipment, so I packed up my Tivo Roamio and TV minis and am now watching TV through Apple TVs and Rokus. My house is a 3000 sf - 2 story colonial with a 2.5 car garage. I was running a Netgear R7800 (X4S) hidden in a cabinet below my wall mounted TV and my speeds at the far corners of the house were in the low teens and I was getting around 500 Mbps in the middle of the family room 5' from the router. I think having the X4S in a cabinet for years probably degraded its performance, but it is not something you want out in the open in the family room, which is where my cable enters the house through the most direct route and my modem is set. My need for fast internet at all corners of the house had me buy and compare the 2 mesh systems that received the most favorable user reviews - Google Nest WiFi and Eero Pro 3 Pack. The Google Nest WiFi test results and my thoughts on set up and user experience… I had the Nest setup for 3 days and setup through the Google Home app was simple, yet I was not a big fan of the user interface with the Google Home app. I would appreciate a stand-alone app for the Nest WiFi system to more easily track system performance, settings, and device management. That being said I’ll share the most important information - performance. My incoming speeds to the main router were around 700 Mbps down and 18 up on average. I set the main router in the first floor family room on the cabinet below the wall-mounted TV (slightly off center for the house layout), one point router in my upstairs office (almost directly above the main router), and the other point router in the bonus room (down the hall above the garage). Speeds - Family room 5’ from main router (575 Mbps down 16 Mbps up), Master bedroom far corner of the house upstairs (475 Mbps down 15 Mbps up), Office upstairs slightly off middle of the house (334 Mbps 14 Mbps up), Bedroom upstairs on the other side of middle of the house (232 Mbps down 14 Mbps up), Bonus room above garage at the far end of the house (125 Mbps down 14 Mbps up), Garage (119 Mbps down 14 Mbps up). That was all good performance relative to the poor speeds I was getting at the far corners of the house from the X4S. The Eero Pro 3 Pack test results and my thoughts on set up and user experience… I’ve had the Eero Pro 3 pack set up for 2 days and am returning the Google Nest WiFi. Eero setup is a snap through the app and was done in 10 minutes. The app is straightforward and slick and you can easily see all of the devices connected to each pro router. I set up all of my Eero pros is the same spots I set up the Nest main and point routers. I like that you can easily turn off the LED lights on the routers so they are even more incognito. As with the Nest, my incoming speeds to the main router were around 700 Mbps down and 18 up on average. Now for the important part… Speeds -Family room 5’ from main router (601 Mbps down 18 Mbps up), Master bedroom far corner of the house upstairs (595 Mbps down 18 Mbps up), Office upstairs slightly off middle of the house (498 Mbps 17 Mbps up), Bedroom upstairs on the other side of middle of the house (378 Mbps down 17 Mbps up), Bonus room above garage at the far end of the house (334 Mbps down 16 Mbps up), Garage (278 Mbps down 16 Mbps up). I love the aesthetics of the Eero Pro routers and the Nest are also nice. I chose to keep the Eero Pro 3 Pack and return the Nest WiFi because of the performance and ease of use of the Eero app. I know the system is more expensive, but for me the difference is worth it to get consistent speeds at points farthest from the modem. One other note. If you have any devices that can only connect to 2.4 ghz… I suggest renaming your current router SSID and setting the password to whatever you want to use for the Eero or Nest and connecting those to your 2.4 ghz band before setting up your new mesh system. That’s what I had to do for my garage door opener with MyQ and my LG washing machine and dryer. They are successfully connected to my Eero network now. Hope this review helps.

DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK !!!!! I've owned this for 4 months. The speed, performance, reliability, and stability are just not there. Multiple reboots every single day just to check emails. I just now reviewed the Software Update History (I'm only allowed to attach 6 photos) and nearly every single one of the updates from 1.0.2 all the way to 6.4.0 involve "Stability" and "Performance" improvements. How many updates do they need in order to get it right ???!!! DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK !!!!!

    Extreme Quality, plus Apple HomeKit!

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.

I replaced a Netgear nighthawk combo modem/router which worked pretty good for speed and coverage but would not reach into corners of garage to connect some smart switches/plugs. For a couple days, I had the eero system connected to the this original modem/router combo (and didn’t even shut down the two 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz WiFi signals from original and eero worked fine. Picked up an Arris Surfboard “modem only” with 3.1 docs for future faster speeds (currently we get 200MB download speed From Mediacom) and connected to the eero Pro wi-fi system. Works great. While this is an expensive system, the quality of the eero hardware is exceptional. Looks like a product you’d expect from Apple (iPhone, Mac, etc). We use apple HomeKit for home automation, so is pumped I’m the worst-if system ties into Apple HomeKit. The quality of the app that is used during set up is excellent. Very easy to set up and helps you optimize placement of each of the three Wi-Fi hardware units. I have one on each end of the house and one in the garage and the mesh system works flawlessly. It’s really great being able to quickly check your Internet and Wi-Fi output on a smart device. The “far away from original modem/router” smart switches and plugs that previously did not work, now work great. I highly recommend this system.

    Finally!

    Posted .

Tried the linksys wrt1900ac, tried the netgear, the asus, the new linksys gamer. The Apple was actually the best but coverage at the other side of the house defied RF physics... not the fault of the AirPort Extreme. It was the best but lack of features at that price :-( Now to the EERO. Phone app? Simply awesome! The coverage is 5 out of 5. Most impressive I can get the EXACT same speed from my furthest AP as from the closest to the modem. Reassociation to another AP is QUICK. Zero lag. I’ve payed for the beta ad blocker. All the rest need to borrow this feature. Expensive but I find it well worth it... they do give a 30 day trial which I will not cancel. Just too awesome. New features to come in Dec they say. I’m sincerely LOOKING for something to complain about after about 45 days (except that darn sticker price) :-)

It did well for one month, but has been choppy after that. The internet connection drops and comes back every 5 minutes or so. Mobiles and laptops are particularly affected. For other devices like tv, etc., it takes multiple attempts to connect. In order not to disrupt all the devices. I connected some devices directly to lan and they worked fine. I was working with folks from support who did a diligent job in analyzing this but things didn’t improve. Came here to start the return, but looks like I missed the window by 10 days. So putting this review here. Definitely not worth $500 I shelled out for this.

    Great WiFi system

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.

I purchased this WiFi mesh system because I was consistently losing WiFi connections with my smart devices and laptops. I have a 2000 square foot home 2 stories with over 80% of the home connected with Z-wave, Zigee, and WiFi smart switches and outlets and Amazon Alexas in each room. I have my WiFi system loaded. Since I purchased this item I have had consistent WiFi coverage throughout the upstairs and downstairs. The software if very easy to use even when I not at home. I can monitor connection and check internet speed which remains consistent. I got the Pro Mesh System so I have 3 units and each unit has 2 ethernet ports. I connected ethernet switches to the ports and I was able to expand the number to faster wired connections for some of the various wired bridges /hubs I have for some of my smart devices. This has allow me to place some of my bridges/hubs throughout my home so they can have closer connection to their appropriate device. This system works great and I am very happy with the result although the price was steep. I accomplished exactly what I wanted and my home now has consistent connection and excellent coverage. I highly recommend the investment.

I had the nighthawk 8500 with a mesh extender , but kept losing signal at far end of two story 4300 sq ft house. I had the geek squad guys come over to fix it. However they told me the nighthawk is not a good mesh network. They told me to just get the Eero pro, which I did. No more loss signal. Great deal when the price was discounted to $400. For presidents week sale. I love this system. So easy to set up and great range. I dropped the 400mb speed from spectrum down to 100mb and see no difference. This is the way to go if you have a big house.

Just installed this yesterday, the instructions were correct, it literally too less than 10 minutes to get my kid back in his room to continue Gaming. I replaced my old Apple Airport network with the EERO. The reach needed is amazing since my wife is working from home in the Garage... it's a nice garage I swear. The Garage is detached from the house, and this newer tech is quite seamless. I was also able to reincorporate my Apple AirPort Express wirelessly back into my new network so I can use it as an AirPlay hub for music. Would be nice if there was a Browser interface for setup and configuration of this system, but so far it works better than expected. Speedtests used to be 12 Mbps down in the garage in perfect conditions. now its between 80 and 150. This has also speed up the quality and connections of the lights, security cameras and Automation, like using voice commands to open the garage and set th thermostat.
