    Nice Printer

The Epson EcoTank All-In-One printer is a very nice printer, and the EcoTank concept is a nice change from traditional ink cartridges, even if initial setup does take significantly longer. This is a wireless printer with a built in scanner as well. Setup can get a bit lengthy, but luckily, the app is very clear with its instructions and walks you through every step effectively. You can connect the printer wired or wirelessly. If you opt for wired, you need to provide your own usb cable. I think Epson assumes anyone buying a wireless printer is going to connect wirelessly, but just something to be aware of if you want to connect by USB. As you go through the setup steps, everything feels quite familiar if you've ever set up a printer before. However, when you get to filling the ink tanks, that's when things became unfamiliar to me. First of all, just seeing the bottles, I expected the process to be messy. And second, I was paranoid I would put the wrong bottle in the wrong tank. Epson did a great job with both of these concerns, however. The bottles do not spill or drip at all. They do a very good job of only letting the ink out when they are placed in the filling position. And each bottle only fits into the tank it was designed for. So you won't even be able to make the mistake I was paranoid about. Each bottle takes about a minute or so to fully fill the tank. Black taking the longest, because it is the biggest. Also, the bottle will stop flowing once the tank is full. So you don't have to worry about overfilling or anything. All of the bottles had a little bit left over once all the tanks were full. Maybe about a quarter of the bottle or less. After filling the tanks, the printer then has to "charge" the ink, which I'm not even sure what that means, but it took like 10 minutes. From there, it prints an alignment page which you have to scan, and then everything is all set up. Overall, it took quite a bit longer than other printers I've set up, mostly due to the unique ink system. But as mentioned before, it was at least very simple and well explained every step of the way. The actual performance of the printer is very nice. 15 ppm black and white, and 8 ppm color. I didn't bust out the stop watch or anything, but I did notice documents printed very fast. Scanning also worked as expected, scanning a document in about the same time as other printers I've owned, and the resulting scan was very clear and detailed. One thing I will point out that concerns me about the longevity of this printer is the output tray. For some reason it is motorized. Now, don't get me wrong, it looks very impressive and sleek when it comes out. But I can't help but wonder if it was necessary. I really don't see any reason to motorize this piece other than to look fancy. It just seems like a moving part that can eventually break after too much use and render the whole printer useless. Only time will tell. But I really wish they had just left it a manual flip out tray or something. Other than that, I am really impressed with this printer and am looking forward to many years of use. The initial setup takes a bit longer than other printers, but less waste from cartridges and more ink I think is worth it.

    Great printer AFTER initial setup

Let me start off by saying this is an a great printer. Without question. I have only one negative, and I'll start with that. The setup was atrocious. Cumulatively, I spent about 3 hours simply connecting the printer to the internet. Resetting, restarting my router, the app crashing, etc. I consider myself very tech savvy, so I couldn't imagine if it was just someone with a general understanding trying to get this printer to connect to their internet. Will be this way, but it was definitely mine. Once I did get connected. It stayed connected, I will give it that. My last printer had several issues with constantly going on and offline, even when it was connected via cable through ethernet. Here, it has been going strong with no disconnects. Hopefully it stays that way. Now that that is out of the way, we can get to all the positives, which are many. The first is a lack of an app. Yes, there is an app, but it's not necessary to connect. In order for you to use the printer. Just simply add a printer and go. My last printer required that I had an app and it frequently would have to check in with it. That was aggravating. Once connected, this printer just works. Scanning, printing, photo, printing, whatever it takes on the task and does it well. The print quality is great, documents are nice and crisp, colors on pictures are vibrant and true to the image taken, and the scan quality is great for true archiving of the document as it was intended. The form factor of the machine is small which means that you'll have some trade-offs. I am used to a printer with the drawer loading paper, so it was a bit of a The form factor of the machine is small which means that you'll have some trade-offs. I am used to a printer with the drawer loading paper, so it was a bit of a readjusting to having paper loaded from the back. But, I haven't had an issue there as whatever I loads prints without a problem. I also appreciate the Eco tank loading system as it was easy to load up. At first I was worried that there would be ink splash everywhere, but no, easy painless with no mess. The claims about 3 years, we shall see, as the ink level has already gone down to been since I started, but that just may be the startup. The app itself is very useful and not cumbersome. You can find a lot of fun projects, a lot of remote projects, and it just helps with the overall work functionality. Would I recommend this printer? Absolutely. Hopefully, my setup experience was in the minority. If that is the case, this printer is well worth your money and your time as is simply works, and works great.

EcoTank ET-2980: No More Ink Drama

As someone who prints everything from work documents to family photos, I've been blown away by how the Epson EcoTank ET-2980 has simplified my printing life. The moment I unboxed it, I could tell this wasn't like the frustrating printers I'd used before. Those huge ink tanks staring back at me promised something different - freedom from constant cartridge replacements. Filling the tanks for the first time felt oddly satisfying. The EcoFit bottles clicked into place perfectly, and I haven't had to think about ink since - and that was six months ago! I used to dread seeing that "low ink" warning on my old printer, but now I just glance at the clear tanks and know I'm good for months more. What really surprised me was how quickly it prints. When I'm rushing to get contracts printed before a meeting, those 15 pages per minute in black ink make all the difference. And the quality? My daughter's school presentations come out looking crisp and professional, while family photos print with vibrant colors that last. The wireless feature has become my favorite part. I can't count how many times I've sent prints from my phone while cooking dinner or relaxing on the couch. The setup was super simple with a step-by-step process on both physical paper and on the app. It took me no longer than 10 minutes to setup and thats including the software update. After years of dealing with expensive cartridges and temperamental printers, the ET-2980 feels like a revelation. It's not just a printer - it's become that reliable appliance that quietly makes my life easier every day. Whether you're a student, work-from-home professional, or just someone who prints occasionally, this EcoTank delivers where it count

    low-cost home printer

The Epson EcoTank ET-2980 is a good relatively affordable home printer. All printers these days share the same design language in my opinion. The Epson EcoTank does not stray far from the trend. It is fairly compact and should fit nicely into any home office setting. The visible ink reservoir is very nice to see and are actually quite large. In actuality, they are not the vibrant colors and are all just grey-appearing in real life. One thing that I wish Epson would have done is just a bigger screen. It is TINY which I guess they needed to cut costs somewhere. Print quality is great for a home printer. Not that you really need to stress test home printers but this thing can actually crank them out well. I was getting almost 16 pages a minute with black and white documents. Color pages slowed down to about half that at 8 but still not bad. Print text was crisp. Color documents were decent as well. Powerpoint slides translated well. Pictures were ok. I am not going to printing family portraits on this thing but the color accuracy was decent. My biggest annoyance was the duplex printing. For whatever reason, it would jam up. Removing the jams was easy but still annoying. Scanning and copying are nice and straightforward. You do have to do each page individually. I understand the target audience for the Epson EcoTank ET-2980 and maybe I am spoiled by the copy machines in the office that can crank out multi-page scans and copies, but I do wish there was an automatic document feeder. All in all, I think the EcoTank ET-2980 is a solid printer for the family. The "up to 3 years of ink" is probably a bit generous but maybe my family prints more than average? There are some features that it omits/sacrifices on that are worth noting.

The Epson Eco Tank is a great multi-purpose printer. In the box you get plenty of ink and everything needed to print. Since it's an cartridge free type the ink will last a lot longer than your traditional printer. And a combo pack to replace the ink is a lot cheaper then buying several separate cartridges. And the included ink says it can last up to 3 years. The initial set up was super fast and easy, and took less than 15 minutes to be up and going. The print quality is great as well. I normally do mostly black and white printing, but color pictures came out great as well. Printing directly from the PC via USB and from your phone via WiFi works great as well. I had no issues getting connected and sending print jobs from my phone. Overall this is a great simple printer. It does everything I need from a printer and more. Easy set up, simple connectivity, rich vibrant prints, long lasting ink, and ease of use. If you are looking for a great priced do it all printer look no further. The Epson does it all and does it well. Highly recommend!

    Epson ET-2980: No cartridges required!

I have to admit I have been eyeing these printers for a while. Skeptical, I waited patiently until I felt like I could take a leap of faith and give it a shot. And here we are! First of all, I'd like to say that the initial investment may seem a bit high, but it will yield very high savings later on. I just know that the sticker price can be a bit of a shock compared to cartridge printers which usually go for next to nothing. But you really need to see this as a long-term investment. Unboxing was fairly unspectacular - in a good way - as all I had to do was to open the box, slide the printer out, remove the blue tape strips and plug the printer into an outlet. Quick and painless. One very positive thing I always look for in printers, is the room they occupy to fulfill their functions comfortably for the end user. Less is more when your desk is crowded or you only have a small tray to put the printer on. I'm happy to report that Epson has designed the ET-series with that in mind as well, since it only occupies a bit more than an A4 formatted paper. The setup through my phone was a breeze, as you are guided by a *chat window-style* helper which does a surprisingly good job at letting you know what to do. Once set up through the phone, you can simply download the driver package from Epson and install it, which allows you to print and scan directly from your desktop. The utilities in the installation package may look and feel a bit boring. Especially after the setup which was a positive experience. At least, I didn't run into any issues during and after setting everything up. Now to what really matters: Saving cash money (and the environment). The ET-2980 does not use any ink or laser cartridges, instead, it relies on the built-in ink tanks which can be refilled as needed individually. The tanks are visible from the front and you will know when you are about to run out. When that happens, all you need to do is pop the ink tank open, grab your ink bottle and lock it in the proper tank upside-down until your tank is full again. Easy as pie. So what happens here is that all you need to keep in the drawer is 4 bottles of ink. That's it. No mess, no superfluous garbage, no chip failures, none of that. Note that Epson was wise enough to make the black ink tank almost twice as large as the other color tanks. In terms of print quality, it's a mixed bag. On plain printer paper, colors won't pop as much as they could. It looks a bit too pastel colors for my taste. In terms of text, it's clean and precise, nice and black as it should be. I decided to print a photo as well and the results were way, WAY better with colors. I guess that if you plan on using this printer in an office environment, you will have to get some higher quality paper, as cheap copy paper just doesn't cut it. It's not the fastest printer on the planet but it does get the job done. Scanning is very easy, the utilities come with an app which works really well and can detect the borders if a scan is smaller than the entire scanner bed. Auto-cropping if you will. The results are solid and consistent with color and black & white. By, now, you probably have realized that I am very satisfied with this printer. Epson has packed a lot into a small container that's stylish, functional and easy to work with. The first time the front door opened and the tray deployed, I was a bit surprised (I'm a nerd and that does touch my sci-fi heart), but I thought that it was a smart move which saves a lot of room and avoids dust from settling down inside the machine. The only thing that is still on my mind, is how long before the print heads get clogged or malfunction? What then? I haven't experienced it, but I do worry about it. But that's a worry for what will hopefully be a long time. All in all, I absolutely recommend this printer. It combines common-sense with practicality. A winning combination in my book. Add the fact that you won't run out of half full ink cartridges anymore and save a load a money and you got yourself a champ, Epson. Nicely done!

The size and functionality of this all-in-one printer makes it a great addition for any home or home office. It prints fast and has automatic duplexing to save on paper. The smaller form factor is what I truly appreciate. The days of purchasing ink cartridges a thing of the past, and no one does the tank ink technology better than Epson. The colors are vibrant, and the ink seems to dry quickly. Filling the tanks is very easy and it doesn't make a mess at all. The bottle simply fit into to the tank nozzle, and they are drip free. Plenty of ink is provided to last for quite some time. According to the specifications on Bestbuy.com, each ink bottle is the equivalent of 90 ink cartridges. This alone makes it a great value! The scanner works well, as does the copy function. Keep in mind that this is a simple design, so there is no document feeder. Everything is a single scan or copy at a time. There is no paper bin, as the paper feeds from behind the unit. It works perfectly and it holds up to 100 sheets. Setup is very smooth using the mobile phone application. The application will find the printer and walk you right through the entire process. This is another winner from Epson and the build quality is very good.

Choosing the right printer for your home can be a pain. There are so many options with so many different features. One thing is for sure; tank printers are the way to go. With that being said, I always find my way back to Epson printers. The Epson quality and durability is hard to beat. The Epson EcoTank ET-2980 is a great printer option that you have to consider. The last three of my printers have all been Epson printers and I have been extremely happy with them. And no, they did not fail on me. I have one in my office, my son's room, and in my living room. The Epson EcoTank ET-2980 printer has a much sleeker design than my older Epson EcoTank printers. Similiar to any wifi enabled device, installation is super eazy. Follow a few steps on the screen and you will be up and running in no-time. I love email printing and use it quite often. I don't I've ever had an email print fail on any of my Epson printers. They are extremely reliable. As I mentioned before, tank printers are the way to go. The ink last a very long time. No more having to pay a ton of money on cartidge style ink kits. Filling the tank is extremeley easy, and the ink is relatively cheap. If you are in the market for a printer, definitely consider the Epson EcoTank ET-2980.

My past two printers (a different brand) have given me nothing but headaches. They’re a pain to setup, they struggle with dual band routers where the 2.4ghz and 5ghz signals are on the same connection, have to be reset before each print job, the list goes on and on. It’s 2025, printers should just work. The Epson EcoTank ET-2980 just works. I plugged it in, walked through the setup on the device, filled up the tanks with ZERO spill, and I was printing. My laptop immediately connected to it. My phone immediately connected to it. It was finals week so my partner printed about 100 pages. I could barely see a dent in the ink tank. It’s going to last awhile and I’m happy! My quibbles are very small. I wish the screen was bigger, although this was really only a problem during setup. It's definitely more expensive but overall it feels like a better built machine then it's competitors and with ecotank ink i'm saving a lot of money as well. All in all, this is the machine to get if you do want a solid home or small office printer. You're going to save money, have less headaches and be overall happy with your purchase. Pros: Ecotank Ink! Easy setup Connects fast and reliably CONNECTS FAST AND RELIABLY Allows USB connection (other brands tape over their USB port??) Ink can last up to 2 years, much longer than cartridges Sips ink, printed about a 100 pages in the first week and barely put a dent in the tank Cons: Upfront cost is higher than other comparable cartridge machines Wish the display was bigger Wish it was a little more compact

I have used various printers from laser to mostly ink jet printers. This is my first experience using a printer with no cartridges so this is new. I do think this is more efficient and of course less cartridges to throw out more convenient and don't have to contribute more waste . Just have to get more ink and refill it. The only negatives would be if Epson changes to a different color formula or just ends this. But so far they haven't from what I have seen.filling up the ink into the printer is quite easy. Also you have to be more careful with this printer so you don't spill the ink if the printer moves but that isn't an huge issue anyways . In terms of color quality I find it great better than my last printer. Same goes with the black and white pages as well. They promise up to three years of ink but idk if I could accurately test that since I don't print out a ton of stuff on a regular basis to want to test it. But I haven't printed a few down pages and the ink levels haven't really moved. The best part of this primer is that it works wirelessly so you can connect it through wifi from your phone or laptop to print

The Epson ecotank et-2980 wireless all-in-one color printers super tank inkjet printer is an amazing ink value, boasting that one bottle of ink is equivalent to 90 cartridges. It also has a 3-year supply of being out of the box, which is amazing for me as I print daily in my small home office. The super-sized ink tanks hold an amazing amount of ink without drying out. It also has wireless printing so that any device in my home can easily print without any further setup. They've also upgraded the printer head to take on print jobs and last for the lifespan of the printer. The paper trail holds up to 100 sheets of paper, which comes in handy. With print copy and scan functionality in hand is just about any job up to 800 sheets per month. It also adds wireless Mobile printing, a very convenient feature. I also want to know that when you clean the printer head or you have access to print ink, there's a canister that is included that has to be replaced; it cannot be dumped or cleaned. In the market for a reliable printer, this is the one.
