I am a fan of the Misfits, therefore anything that is Misfits related, I buy. Enter "Misfits Meet the Nutley Brass", man this stuff is unlike anything I have ever heard before in my entire Metal life. The Nutley Brass is the musical creations by Sam Elwitt. This tribute music is so strange, so sinister in it's unique simplistic form, that it is down right eerie. Basically, it is the "Twilight Zone" meets "Star Trek" meets "The Munsters" if you are looking at a musical score to compare to. Even then, you need to add a scary basement lounge atmosphere with some macabre organ music and you have a pretty good example of what this CD sounds like. There are no vocals, only strings and other imaginative sounds to entertain you silly. Do not forget that this music is all covers of Misfits classics, "Astro Zombies", "Skulls", "Hybrid Moments" and "Where Angels Dare" will never be the same again. Overall, this music sounds very science fiction, like a melancholy day dream gone astray. This stuff is so different it is good, it makes for a very unique listen between my Power Metal and Death Metal moods. I found this musical tribute to the Misfits to be fun, I really cannot predict how other listeners will react to this. I recommend that all Misfits fans buy this, heck anyone looking for real spooky, space travel, atmospheric tunes will love this stuff. The executive producers are John Cafiero (Osaka Popstar) and the legendary Jerry Only himself. The liner notes are 8 pages of extended artwork, plus a written background about the Nutley Brass by Sam Elwitt and John Cafiero.
