    cool air, but water everywhere

    great looking air conditioning unit, the app is ok too. Sadly, it leaked water all over my hardwood floors. After a couple nights of this messy insanity, I added a drain hose into a 1 gallon bucket but found that I had to drain the bucket every 3-4 hours. Added a 2 gallon pan that the bucket sits in so I can get through the night without dumping the excess water. NOTE: There are two drain caps, make sure the lower one is sealed and doesn't shake loose.

    I have had many ac units over the years. But there is no comparison to the disgust I have for this unit. I purchased it due to the windows in my second floor being terribly shaped and not fitting a window unit and my regrets are intense. The sound of the unit is a bit loud but that's nothing compared to the sludge that builds in the bottom pan of this unit. On a humid day within 4 hours this unit will gift you with a P1 error meaning the bottom section is full. Much to my dismay this also means it might be full of algae. I am talking a good gallon of disgusting clear mess poured from this followed by me near vomiting. I then researched what at the time was an alien escaping the unit. I learned about using vinegar to clean the unit but there is no easy entry point. I now have no choice but to about every day heft the 80lb ac unit into the bathroom to give it what I can only call a vinegar enema and it only works to make the once clear alien now a beautiful brown hue. So instead of clear jelly it's now pooping brown every two days. This has gone on for weeks with no end near. And there is no way to easily access the bottom pan to clean it. 100% regret the purchase.

    I bought this unit because I had WiFi capability and worked with Alexa. However, I have only had it operating for 2 weeks and already it is malfunctioning. The operating buttons on the unit itself will not work anymore. Yet somehow I can sometimes still turn the unit on with the phone app when the machine feels like working. The remote only works occasionally. The temperature control setting resets on its own back to 60 degrees as the goal temp, which you can’t change with the phone app, the remote, or manually, and then unit then proceeds to beep loudly every 5 minutes telling you to change it. When the unit does actually allow use of the phone app, you can change the goal temp. But it slips back to 60 degrees every time. It’s way too expensive to malfunctioning like this. Very poor quality.

    Should be a great unit - but mine is defective!

    THE GOOD: This unit is absolutely quieter and has a smaller footprint than any other portable unit we've ever had. Takes up less space than rectangular floor units. The window slider device is unique and far supererior (neat, no gaps, easy to move unit from room to room). THE BAD: My unit is defective -- my guess is a bad internal thermostat. It blows cold but almost never cools a 168 sq foot bedroom lower than 75 degrees -- even right now (evening with an outside temp of only 78 degrees and the thermostat set to 72). We wake up every night sweating. THE UGLY: Best Buy will NOT accept a return after 14 days, even a defective unit. Frigidaire tech-support INSISTS that Best Buy will replace the unit (but they won't). Frigidaire is willing to send out a replacement -- but only if I disable this unit and send them a picture (cut power cord). That leaves me with disposal costs for the old unit AND A THREE WEEK WAIT for the replacement. I didn't spend nearly $800 on a Frigidaire to go 3 weeks in July/August with no air conditioning! I will consider updating this review (or submitting a new one) IF/WHEN my issue is resolved. Right now, I'm very disappointed in Best buy AND Frigidaire.

    Terrible. Loud, heavy, and ineffective

    Hated it. First, it was extremely loud. It was much heavier than advertised—ad said something like 35 pounds but it was closer to 70–not liftable by one person. And end of the day, it was not effective—did not cool even one bedroom, let alone 550 feet. I had to return it. Nowhere near as effective as a window air conditioner at a third the cost. I couldn’t use a window AC, which is why I bought this. But it really is not worth it.

    Three strikes and you’re out!

    I have now owned and used THREE of these air conditioners, one air conditioner each of the last three summers because each unit has only lasted one season or less. This third unit, which was a free replacement from Frigidaire for the first air conditioner which stopped working after the first summer, ran about 10 times and now has stopped working like the first two units did after one season each. I'm sure if I called customer support, and jumped through all the hoops, I might possibly receive a free replacement unit, but I would not take another free unit if they paid me to take it. Frigidaire should be ashamed of themselves for the poor quality of their products. Three air conditioners over the course of 2.25 summers, how disgraceful!!!! .

    My last Frigidaire purchase

    This is the second AC I get from this brand and same model. - I keep on buying it due to the style and looks. - the tube that is connected that goes to the window was broke. I had already return a unit because it was broken when I unboxed it. Big box that I had to bring and take back and bring back again when I am sure they could had offer to deliver and picked up for me. - the tube was broken so I call Frigidaire and they told me to take the Unit back to Best Buy but that would be a pain The ac didn’t work as nice as my first one This is my last time buying anything of this brand

    Decided to buy this portable a/c because of the functionality and recommended BTU for my enclosed 400 square foot living room, however it didn’t cool the space to a comfortable level, the starting degrees was at 83 and after more than 24 hours on on high and set on 60 degrees, my living room temperature remained at 82 degrees, I will be returning this product back to BB, aloha.

    with the wifi not ever working you only get half the machine you pay for. 3 years of customer support and they cant even help. if the settings you get connected to wifi isn't important to you then sure pay extra of hundreds of dollars for a gimmick that Frigidaire cant even fix.l

    This is probably the least productive air conditioning unit I’ve ever used in my entire life, will not even cool a small room. Do not make the same mistake I did. I assumed Frigidaire would be experts on cooling ... not this time.

    Not as powerful as advertised

    This unit lacks power and over heats. Will cool a bathroom sized room but that is it. I recommend not to get the Best Buy warranty as it is too expensive and terms change when you decide to use it.

    It was a good air conditioner but after a little over a year and a half it gave out and wouldn’t connect WiFi wise, had to return it.

    Portable a/c s don’t cool as well as a window unit. This one doesn’t cool the room down at all. Just get a window unit.

Cooling efficiency will depend on a lot of factors, including outside temperature, insulation, room activity, and the set fan level. For portable models, the length of the exhaust hose is another factor. A shorter hose will lessen the amount of heat that is lost during transfer and reintegrated into the room, and will increase cooling efficiency for the air conditioner. Please also ensure that you have the recommended size air conditioner for your space! This model is recommended for rooms of up to 550 square feet. ~Ashton Frigidaire

    Colossal Waste of Money

    For the low, low, price of almost $600, you, too, can have a room that's hotter than outside. It's currently 75 degrees outside and this swell AC managed to cool my room down to a ripe 80 degrees. I shudder to think what it will do when it gets to 90 degrees. I matched all of the specifications to my room size, accounted for things like mini fridge and other heat-emitting devices and spoke to the Best Buy person who said it should work great. Not only did I pay way more money for an ineffective product, since I was talked into going with the bigger one that was "more effective" than the ones $300 cheaper, but it also takes up an absurd amount of space and doesn't come with wheels, as was incorrectly stated by a rep on these reviews. What's even more super, is that since it's so heavy, the packaging and styrofoam were so damaged when it was shipped, there was no way to get it back into the packaging to return. So now I'm out $600 (and the useless $72 warranty) for a product that *maybe* makes it 5 degrees cooler than it is without it. I'm sweating as I write this review. Absolutely do not buy this product. Buy another "portable" AC that's cheaper and equally ineffective if you have to. If you have a regular window (mine is two inches from the building next door so I couldn't put in a regular AC), just get a regular window AC. They are 100x more effective.

    Beyond looking nice, there is nothing good about this unit. Of most importance, read the first bullet point: - Unit must be as close to window as possible to work at all. If the hose is stretched out at all, it dissipates so much heat that the temperature actually began to rise. Once I put it completely compacted against the window, the cloth wrapping bundled up and started to actually insulate the heat for exiting the window. So unless you are ok with the unit <24 inches from your window, it won't work for you. - Cannot cool more than a 200 sqft area. As soon as I walked 10 feet away from the unit, the room was back to normal temperature. I think a large part of this is due to the fans being pointed almost directly upward. I thought the air would circulate, but it never seemed to. - LOUD. Loudest air conditioner I've ever owned (I know other reviews say otherwise, so maybe I just got unlucky.) - Air really isn't that cold to begin with. If I put my hand in front of my old 8000 btu air conditioner, it feels like it could get frostbitten within a few minutes. This barely feels cold and I doubt I'd ever have to pull my hand away.

    For the price, you'd expect it to work right off the bat. 1. The window piece was not long enough for my window. 2. The foam wasn't even the length of the window piece so expect air to get in/out OR PURCHASE EXTRA THINGS TO MAKE THIS WORK. 3. There are gaps EVERYWERE. Nothing fit flush so I felt like heat was coming in. 4. I had it on all day yesterday in a dark room, no people, minimal furniture (less than 300 sq ft) set to 72 and it didn't get below 82. 5. Not to mention the GREAT help of the Frigidaire support. Took them half an hour to tell me they "Couldn't locate the part" I was looking for. So they suggested I BUY A DIFFERENT WINDOW PIECE.

    Avoid purchasing

    Avoid purchasing this unit says it cools 550 square feet doesn’t get close to that. Only cools a small area and the moment you walk a couple feet away it’s warm. I really don’t suggest this product unless you are using it for a small room. Really don’t recommend. Will be returning.

      Sorry to hear you feel that way, Albert. Please keep in mind, this is suggested for a room up to 550 sq. ft. It may not be able to cool beyond the room it is in due to walls and doors obstructing the airflow. For best cooling performance, be sure it is properly vented outside, you are using a high fan speed, and you are using cool mode.     Ugh! There is nothing cool about this air conditioner. I have owned portable air conditioners before and this by far the worst. It does not do what was made to do - make the room cooler.

      Hey, sorry to hear how unhappy you are with your air conditioner. Some steps that might help; Turn the unit to a higher Fan Speed using the selector switch; this will help circulate the cool air faster. If the room temperature is very high, the air exiting the unit may not feel cold. Air exiting the unit is usually between 17°-20°F lower than the Intake air, and may not feel cold to the touch until the room temperature is reduced. Also, clean the air filter and ensure there are no blockages near the air vents. If this does not help, please reach out to us directly. -Jennifer Frigidaire
