I've read the other reviews mentioning noise, but in my case, this is installed in a laundry room and unless I'm right outside the door in the hallway, I don't hear it. Inside the room itself, you hear the hum but it's really not that bad. In the room on the other side of the wall, you can't hear it, so a couple sheets of drywall do seem to dampen the noise effectively. The efficiency compared to my ancient upright freezer is amazing, but then I'm comparing this one to a model that's 25-30 years older, so no surprise there. I like the amount of space inside. The bottom drawer and door shelves are handy. We like how the shelves in the drawer are deep enough for ice cream pints. The old freezer we had used some really narrow shelves in the drawer that weren't good for more than a bag of frozen veggies, so the deep ones are appreciated. The simple controls on the exterior are nice. It would have been better to have an actual temperature setting on the outside (like 0 degrees, or -5 degrees, etc) instead of a simple 0-7 scale. I ended up using a cheap freezer thermometer inside to get an actual reading and just adjust the 0-7 settings as needed. Freezer thermometers should be pretty easy to find and are probably more accurate anyway.

It's a large capacity freezer which runs quietly, has a lock in case you have young children at home, temperature control panel is outside on the door. We love that it's frost free and doesn't need manual defrosting. Would recommend it highly.

We bought this freezer to replace an old chest freezer. What a difference, much more space in this freezer, easier to access items in freezer. Do not have to defrost this freezer and it is quiet. Like the alarm feature that will go off if the temperature inside the freezer is too warm.

This freezer sure fits a lot. I have only had this freezer for a half a month and already have had to call GE for a repair. Gasket is leaking and getting condensation droplets around top of door below gasket. The customer service reps have tried to convince me that the condensation inside the freezer is from humid weather or I have turned the temp down too low!?!? Sorry, no. GE reps get a negative star review. GE sent me a gasket and guess I get to install it myself. This freezer seems to be ok other than a bad brand new gasket. Freezes my food just fine.

We have had our GE freezer for two weeks and so far so good! We were pleased with the delivery/setup/haul away service through Best Buy. We are pleased that the freezer is working well, just as we expected.

We shopped around for awhile before deciding on this freezer. Best Buy had the best price and free shipping. I love the size of the freezer (my husband hunts for deer, so we always have meat in the freezer). I also love the way the door sucks in when you close it. It also has a door alarm which is a bonus with two small kids.

We're usually a big fan of Frigidaire appliances but reading other reviews on other sites we opted for GE with the promotional pricing. First of all, if you do a lot of cooking and/or storing, upright is just the way to go. There's so much space unless you're trying to pack some serious amount of frozen food you won't run out of space! The frost-free feature is very nice. Our old commercial freezer not only was sucking up electricity but the frost kept on building to the point of being able to utilize 1/2 of the space. After three weeks of use, there's absolutely no sign of frost of any kind. Now we only take up 1/2 the space with so much room to store. The design is simple while the racks are sturdy and like most refrigerators and upright freezers, the plastic guards on the door shelves are flimsy. It's not really bad though as long as you're not trying to cram a frozen chicken. I've read some other reviews that this upright freezer makes a lot of noise. I don't know if they had a bad unit but ours is very quiet. More quiet than the last commercial freezer we had. Once in awhile it'll kick on and make a whirling sound that you can hear but nothing that you'll notice unless you're standing in the same room. The temperature control on the door panel is set at "4" by factory; the lower the number the warmer. We ended up setting it to "3" after couple weeks considering it's still cold out (New Hampshire) and will probably set it back to "4" during the warmer months. There really isn't much else to add other than it's been problem free and really gave us more room to store so much food. We have at least five loaves of bread, about 20 or so plastic containers in all sizes, ice cube trays, boxes of frozen foods and plenty of room to store more. I think we can put in 10 decent sized whole turkey if we wanted. For the price I would seriously consider buying this and a separate refrigerator with no freezer built in. That's how we have setup in our house.

I bought this freezer to replace a 25+ yr old freezer that did not have automatic defrost. The old freezer kept everything frozen but had to be manually defrosted twice a year. The new GE freezer meets all my needs and I do not have to take everything out twice a year to remove the ice build up. I am extremely satisfied with this freezer.
