    Makes my family feel safer

I bought a bunch of these to bring my house up to code, along with a couple of the hard-wired version (my house had two hardwired detectors). Setup was a breeze. We already had a Nest thermostat, so the app was ready to go. You just follow the instructions in the app, and each Nest Protect is set up in under a minute. Get them all set up . and installed, then test. The test runs through both the smoke and CO alarms, and because they're interconnected, when one sounds, they all sound. This is especially important to my family...if a fire starts in the basement, we'd like to know about it in our upstairs bedrooms before it becomes a mighty, unescapable blaze. Another cool feature is that the Nest Protect just doesn't give beeps -- it also pulses red and tells you which detector is alerting. You'll hear something like, "Emergency - there's smoke in the basement." So you'll know not only that something may be wrong, but also where the problem is. The Nest Protect works over your wifi and its own built-in wireless connectivity. If there's a fire or other issue and your wifi goes out, the Nest Protect can still communicate with each other. The Nest Protect battery-only and hardwired versions communicate with each other flawlessly, so you can have a mix of battery-only and hardwired. I wound up installing these at my parents' house and brother's family's house as well. One side note too...we have a Ring alarm system, and you can get a Ring smoke/CO listener and place it near any Nest Protect. If the Nest alarm sounds, it'll trip the Ring alarm and notify the fire department.

First and foremost it gives you smoke detector and carbon monoxide protection which has its own color alert and sound. The added benefit I like is that once you register the device onto the Nest app. you can monitor the device online. It has a night light the glows once it senses a moving object. Every activation is logged into the history. Its a nice feature that I used when I was on vacation and I can check to see if the night light activated which it did not. That gives me relief that no one has entered my home.

Easy to install- press a button on the alarm and it runs you thru the process. This wifi option is great as it monitors itself to make sure it is working every day (no loud noises though when doing this). It is smoke and CO2 detector. I have purchased 3 and they all work in tandem. I was sanding near one alarm and it went off (loud noise and voice command). All of the alarms went off so if someone was in another area they would know there were problems somewhere else in the home. Batteries are long lasting so no need to forget to replace them every change in time. Must have for you and your fmaily's safety.

I’m reasonably tech savvy, but I still chose to read through the entire directions and once I had done that I found that the set up process was a snap. One of my very favorite features is that the system emits a low glowing light in our upstairs hallway when we get up at night. The other unit that is near a light we leave on overnight doesn’t light up which is perfect. One last point- we have a long low house and I like the fact that one unit will speak to another at opposite ends of the house if we have an issue. Recommend this device.

I have purchased a few of these to protect the whole house. They are great and network between each other so if one alerts they all alert. they also can be accessed online via the Nest Website or app. I like the fact they use long life batteries so you should only need to change them once if at all in the 10 years they are rated to last. Setup was easy and I really like the night light function. They seem expensive but when you start comparing to others with the same functions they are pretty close. They also integrate with the nest thermostat to better tell when you're home or away. Highly recommended!

I love everything about these Nest Protects. Easy set up, easy installation. They are very loud while notifying of smoke or gas leak. The color ring is great for those who may be hearing impaired and the path light set up for night time that senses motion and turns on a soft glow to help light the area as you walk through is a cool feature as well. The app is also pretty nice. The only negative I can come up with is they do not link up with Alexa but it's not that big of a negative. Overall very satisfied.

I have a Nest thermostat, web cams, Google Home and 2 Protects in my home. They all work fantastic together and all through one app. These were very easy to install and manage through my app. It even will send you a message if it goes off, like when I burn something in the kitchen. An added benefit that I didn't know about this when I bought it is that it has a night light on it. When you walk under it the light will turn on and light up the hallway for you. It is a very dim blue light but is just enough for you to see where you are going at night.

This is a great product. I purchased my first Nest protect a few years ago. And have since bought 2 since. The battery seems to last a long time. When there is no light around the Nest and it senses motion a night light will come on. It is not bright but will shine enough light to show a path at night. These will connect to other Nest protect units and all will alarm if one is in alarm.

I'm a volunteer firefighter who has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout my home but was always afraid of not knowing if there was an emergency at he house. Was always worried about losing a very dear pet because no one would know of a situation at the house until it was too late. That's the void that the Nest protect fills. With the Nest being able to notify me on my phone of an alarm I can check my webcam to see what's going on and call the authorities and get home quickly. Was very easy to setup and install too. Looks great too.

This smoke alarm is very nice looking and appealing to the eye. I do like the voice guiding you through everything. Setup and install was a snap, no issues connecting to wifi or Nest app to link with my Nest Thermostat. I know it's just a smoke alarm and CO detector, but it is really nice. The nightlight feature is very handy for my home, since the smoke alarm is in the hallway on the way to the restroom, no more turning on the light.

The Nest Protect is easy to install and setup. You use your phone/tablet to setup the device before installing it. You use the Nest app to scan a QR code on the back of the Nest Protect to begin setup. If you have multiple Nest Protect's then you use one of the previously installed Nest Protect's to setup the new Nest Protect. One tip, you must clear the app cache for the Android Nest app before installing subsequent Nest Protects. Otherwise, setup will fail to setup the wifi connection and the error the Nest app gives is cryptic and infers a problem with your router. After setup, you can see the status of each Nest Protect and when it was last tested. Each Nest Protect will give you the status of all other Nest Protect's in your house. The wired and wireless devices are setup and function exactly the same.

Purchased 3 of these smoke detectors to replace the ones that were original to my house. The first one was easy to set up and the second two were even easier. Love the peace of mind this gives me since I have 4 children in my home. We also love the night light feature. I wish they were less expensive but I feel it’s absolutely money well spent.

This was our third nest protect. We have two in our house and one in our cabin now and the peace of mind they give us is extraordinary. If it detects fire or smoke it turns the furnace off. And it warns us whenever it smells something dangerous. The night light feature is a great bonus when we have to get up during the night to let the dogs out.

Love, an amazing simple and elegant little device. Easy to set up. Purchase the wired for upstairs and was so please with it that I purchased a second wireless for downstairs near the kitchen. Extremely sensitive and the hidden feature is the motion sensor night light! Worth it!

This is my second next protect as I was so impressed with the first. Set up is a breeze by just mounting the plate, removing the battery protector sleeve, scanning the items QR code with the Nest app and twisting the protector into the mounting plate. I really like the night light feature that automatically turns on when it senses your presence in the dark. It's also of great comfort to know that when you're away, the Nest app will alert you to any dangers it detects.

I bought 3 devices. First one set up like a breeze, 2nd one had a little trouble briefly, but did interconnect with the 1st one...and the last one was a breeze also. So simple, you scan the barcode on the device with your phone and the app walks you through the rest....couldn't be more simple. The device it's self has been solid...no connectivity issue. The speak alarm is easy to understand and the automatic night light a nice touch. This makes me eager to see Nest's other products.
