I got the combo with the keyboard on sale. I love it for a replacement for a laptop. It's a great 2 in 1 option.

I am a college student and I wanted the pixel slate for my school and basic media consumption. I was skeptical at first when looking at the earlier reviews but I wanted to try it out to see if for myself. And let me tell you it’s amazing. The screen has great visuals. Chrome OS is perfect for students like me. It is light and slim even with the keyboard added. The pen allows me to illustrate for my visual arts program. It’s overall just amazing.

I read a bunch of reviews before buying the Slate, and was certainly nervous. After receiving the product and using it as my main laptop, I have zero complaints. Sure - if you're a graphics professional looking for a Wacom experience, it's probably not for you. If you're a pc gamer, this won't compete. But, if you're looking for a good, fast chromebook experience, and would like the ability to sketch and walk around with a (fairly heavy) tablet, this is great. The few android apps I've used were a little laggy, but 99% of what I need to do I can do on this thing. Plus, the screen is beautiful, and the speakers are AWESOME considering the form factor. My happiness with this device also owes to the fact that I got it for roughly $500 - keyboard and pen included. If it weren't for that closeout price, my evaluation would certainly be less favorable.

I was worried about the Slate due to the early reviews when it was overpriced and didn't come with the keyboard and pen + the OS was buggy...fast forward to 2020 and this device is AMAZING, OS has matured and it is now one of the best values around. The Slate will get OS updates until 2026 (wow). Screen, colors, resolution are amazing, love the keyboard and the pen is a good bonus to have.

I had been tempted to get a Pixel Slate ever since it was released, but the price was a bit too steep for me. When Best Buy discounted the Pixel Slate and keyboard package by $650, it became a no-brainer. Now that I have owned it for a few months, I can honestly say that this would have been worth the regular MSRP price. It has a beautiful display, a keyboard that is a joy to type on, and it was works wonderfully as a tablet or a laptop. My only complaint is that the Google folio keyboard has to be on a flat service in order to be used. It is too wobbly to place on your lap and type comfortably. However, this issue is solved if you purchase the Brydge Type A bluetooth keyboard, which was made specifically for the Pixel Slate. I chose to purchase both keyboards since the price was so drastically reduced. Purchasing the Pixel Slate, both keyboards, and the pen cost me less than $715 altogether. Talk about an amazing deal. I would definitely recommend buying this device over the Microsoft Surface Pro. I love it!

I understand this device was discontinued and picked up on christmas vacation as a clearance item 40% off. There was a keyboard and pencil sold separately and that was included with the price. I was not sure about chromebooks, but gave it a try. I have had no problems. My microsoft office 365 lloaded on fine and web browsing/video performance is really good. I really like the long batter life.

This is Google's first, and apparently last, Chrome OS tablet. The optional keyboard really makes this shine. Being able to run Linux apps under Chrome OS also helps to expand what can be done. It's easy to carry around and lightweight so I find myself preferring this over a full Windows laptop.

I have been into 2-in-1's since the were introduced. The idea of having a laptop one minute and a tablet the next is so cool. I have used and owned various versions of tablet/keyboard combos for years and I was very surprised with the Pixel Slate combo for $499. This includes the Core m3/64GB tablet, the keyboard folio and pen. I have used this in addition to the Microsoft Surface Pro X and Apple iPad Pro 12" 3rd Gen and while the iPad Pro is the fastest this Pixel Slate is the most enjoyable. I believe that a tablet is only as good as the accessories available for it and the Slate is no exception. While the combo comes with a keyboard folio that will allow you to get some work done on the run and adds some protection, the amount of standard folio cases a sparse at best. This makes transporting the Slate a bit more of a risk than say the iPad Pro which has about 50 billion cases and other doodads you can grab nearly anywhere. This tablet may not be for everyone. It runs Chrome OS which has a steep learning curve as compared to iPad OS (but hang in there) so it may turn off the masses. I would not do this review justice if I did not mention the this tablet got terrible reviews when it was first introduced (one reviewer even stated you should buy a banana instead) which led to this great deal I am reviewing. Why am I reviewing such a terrible device? Google put a lot of work into correcting the issues including dropping the models with the processors that caused the problems in the first place. However tech moves way too fast and second chances come far and few between thus Google has gotten out of the tablet business leaving us to wonder what the Slate 2nd Gen could have been. In the meantime for those who need a 2-in-1 to get everyday task done put this on your list. Bonus Note: If you have a ton of typing to do spring for the Brydge G-Type Bluetooth Keyboard.

After seeing so many bad reviews I was hesitant to buy the Pixel Slate. There was so much about how laggy and janky the software was. Well, I bought the mid-range model with the M3 and it's worked absolutely perfect for me. I am not using it for super heavy duty work...but I don't know why anyone would...it's a tablet with an M3. For serious work, I'm sure the better processors would be fine. I find the M3 model to definitely be worth the price tag. The screen is amazing, I love ChromeOS. Google really put out a great product.

I'm a unique tech consumer: I use both iOS, Android, and Chrome OS for various tasks. But of the three, I really enjoy using Chrome OS for my office work. It was hard to let go of my 2nd gen Pixelbook as it was nearing it's end. I loved the feel of the keys, the padding for your palms (except when they got discolored), and the overall experience. I really wanted a Tablet OS experience but was anxious about the many YouTube reviews out there that really gave strong negative opinions to the Pixel Slate. But the bundle pack at Best Buy was hard to pass over, so I went ahead and purchased the Pixel Slate M3 version which came with the official Keyboard and Pixel Pen. After a month I must say, those online reviewers were wrong about this device and this is my go-to device now. Pros: -Productivity experience. Chrome OS familiar was for me since I've been using the Pixelbook for over 2 years now. With the Slate, I really enjoy the Android touch-based experience when in tablet mode. It's responsive and smooth when using. All of my apps open smoothly without any issues. Utilizing all of my Word programs, Google apps is fast and simple to operate. -Screen: this has a 12.3-in screen and the color and quality is amazingly crisp. The screen is 3000 x 2000-pixel panel, and can get really bright (337nits). My old Pixelbook was 421 nits but I couldn't tell the difference. Also the response to my clicks or finger was fast and smooth. At no time did I feel it was slow or stuttery. -Google Assistant: it's a better experience on the Slate compared to my old Pixelbook. According to Google, the speed is 350% faster on the Slate and I would agree. -Keyboard and pen: the biggest draw for me in purchasing it was that this was included in the bundle for a total of $499! The Slate itself is normally $499 and if you add the Keyboard ($249) and the Pen ($99), it would cost you close to $850! The Keyboard is backlit, and does add weight to the entire device but I love typing on it. The keys are nice and quiet and the travel is excellent. The magnets on the back are strong and secure for any angle. The touchpad is also very accurate. The Pen is also great to use with a very natural feel with hardly any latency. I really enjoyed utilizing the Google Assistant feature in circling multiple faces to see how accurate it would identify them. This is an amazing feature, one I wished Apple and Samsung would incorporate. Cons: -The Keyboard: It's a challenge using this on your lap, as many commentators have pointed out. The design of the Slate/Keyboard duo creates a very large footprint on your lap and desk, something that bothered me with the Surface line devices as well. I wished that the keyboard could be raised flushed with the screen like the Surface Keyboard. -No external microSD slot: The Slate has 2 USB-C ports, and that is all. There are no SD slots, nor a headphone jack (they do provide an adapter for your headphone). It only comes with 64 GB storage but the purpose of Chrome OS is to utilize your cloud networks. I wished there was an option for a microSD card. Overall, I was really impressed with this device. The M3 is really fast and the overall experience is great. Get this device while the bundle sale lasts!

I was looking for a smaller screen to switch from my 15 in. Acer Chromebook and gave this little machine a try. I bought the special bundle with keyboard and stylus included and it's worth every cent. The screen is beautiful, speakers are a big upgrade from my previous Chromebook and the tablet functionality is great. Applications and websites load fast and most games run smoothly. Plus, it has access to the Android and Linux ecosystems as well.

The Chrome OS is wonderful on this tablet/laptop. I can do appreciate how this device functions. I have read the reviews for the Celeron processor on the lower end models. Yes, I can see why those people have the reviews that they. However, this m3 model and up, no issues here. Love the fact that I saved $658 by buying the package deal and getting the keyboard and pen for free, plus getting the tablet on sale!! It was such a great deal when I got the last one in the store that I went home and ordered a second one for my partner and had it delivered!! Just enjoy this product so much. It is the answer I was looking for in a tablet and a laptop. And it will be traveling with me on Christmas vacation. Merry Christmas all! Get this deal. You will regret it if you don't!

Decided to upgrade my 2017 Samsung Chromebook Plus. I'm glad i did. The Pixel Slate is definitely a nice upgrade to provide a better tablet experience with all of the traditional Chromebook features. The build quality is great and the speakers are amazing. Will keep this until the next great Google Pixel products arrives

Great device with an excellent display, very good speakers for a tablet, good battery life, and fast performance. This is a good buy if you get the free keyboard and pen. Otherwise I'd hesitate to purchase those separately. Might be a small learning curve for Apple users

So far I have been extremely pleased with my purchase. I was looking for a good solid tablet that would also connect to a keyboard when needed and believe this has hit the spot. Also appreciate being able to connect it to an external monitor when sitting in the office. Was swayed to go with this unit knowing that it is a Google device so updates and features will be available quickly rather than waiting for other manufacturers to implement them. I am satisfied and look forward to the continued optimizations and features Google will add.

This device is definitely not one of my first choice. I only purchased it because this was on sale. Boy, glad I bought it. I’m all about trying new technology and so it was a good chance for me to try out Chrome OS, that too from Google’s own device. In the beginning I had too many problems with the keyboard and that almost made me want to return the device. I didn’t know if the issue is with the keyboard or the device itself. If it’s not for the price, I would have returned. Once the keyboard issue was resolved with the help from Google support, the device functions smoothly. One of my concerns was whether the processor could hold up. No problems in that area for my media consumption use. Overall, great device for the price and Google support keeps the device going strong.

First one had a bad usb port. Not a problem. Had a rough time getting my unit exchanged with best buy. They made buy a second unit before they would send me a new one. But after several hours on hold and two trips to the local store. I finally got a manager who would help me. Unfortunately best buys policy's put such a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think I can do business with them again. I gave the unit 5 stars because when I got one that worked. It works really great! Just best buys policy's are really hard to navigate. And they are not willing to help.
