I originally set out to buy a MacBook, but the one I wanted was fabulously expensive, so I decided to see what else was out there. Almost as an afterthought, I stumbled into my local Best Buy and "met" the HP Omen. The sizzling specs, abundance of USBs, large, high-rez screen, backlit keyboard and sleek design won me over. I use it for DJ work, and thus far it has been a super-solid, stable performer. While I'm not a gamer, I'm a HUGE fan of adopting game-spec computers to make my less exotic programs SMOKE!

This hp is very fast. I run only xplane and flight simulator on full graphics but medium traffic (clouds, plane, cars trees) maybe new games with newer drivers will run the way my friends tell me on super high settings. The cooling as long as it is on a flat surface is amazing better than I have every seen on any laptop. The touchscreen is the best just like a smart phone responsive just keep it clean for smooth operation. It froze on me ( no input from screen) when using edge explorer but they are constantly updating. Most of the glitches i ran into like the color cordination of any key led was fixed after updating. I use go pro studio and with the memory 256gb it will run out quick with 4k video from hero4 10min video is almost 10gb plus edited version. So i will be getting a couple terabytes from external. And keep this hardrive only with immediate data like games and current projects because the solid state drive really makes this laptop. all the speed is coming from the solid state drive being super fast. Start up from when i press power enter my password and all icons show up on desktop is less than 30seconds very fast even when memory is full. I can record my gameplay from xbox one and have party chats or messages right from windows 10 as soon as i start up (same network) The only thing i didnt like is when i run a game using alot of cpu. I have ac adaptor plugged in a message comes up saying that my adapter cannot handle the full capability of the computer and i need a upgraded ac adapter to run faster. And i cannot find this high power adapter anywhere from hp. So that is why i give 4 out 5 as this is almost the perfect laptop. Chose over alienware with almost same specs. Will upgrade to 16gb ram soon which re quires two new sticks , there are only 2 slots and there used by 4gb x2 so good luck. I also paid 320 for 3 year geek squad incase i smash this beautiful thing

I'm supper happy with this PC ! It looks Amazing and its supper fast. Specially the way that the lighting works on the keyboard and the fan... because of the shape and the design it looks supper thin and its not that heavy! my only complain is the ports on the back it takes time to get used too but over all I will recommend this pc to everyone

I purchased computer for my office. We have been impressed so far with it being light weight, fast and able to multitask multiple medical software without slowing down. I have been impressed with the Graphics and the Touch screen on my Omen.

It looks great, and the lighting options are fantastic. However, the HP omen control software is a little buggy with the new windows update. For example, my left speaker led also only works maybe 10% of the time. You also have a possibility of overheating because you control the fan speed yourself (it is not controlled based on computer usage/temperature), and I would have to toggle the fan speed sometimes to get it to maximum. Other than those problems, it works fine, especially before windows 10. To be worth the price, it needs more ram to call itself a gaming computer and better implementation of the control software.

This computer was an excellent choice for me. There are only three draw backs. 1. It tends to get hot if you are using it on your lap. 2. No CD slot, and 3. no docking station

Overall, this is a great laptop. It is fast, the screen looks great, the touchpad is big, the backlit keyboard looks and feels good, it runs games well, the hardware looks really nice compared to what I used to expect from HP, and the tapered edges make it feel slimmer than other laptops of similar sizes. The biggest downside is battery life. The laptop rarely makes it to two hours, and barely does one hour if I am doing anything resource-intensive. I am by outlets frequently enough that it is not an issue, but I never take this laptop for a plane ride or anything like that. Additionally, the keyboard and touchpad settings occasionally reset after a reboot. It is only a couple clicks to restore my settings, but it would be nice to not have to do that every time I boot up the machine (reinstalling drivers had no effect).

I loved this laptop when I initially got it from Best Buy, but after living with it for a short while I missed my MacBook Pro rather quick. I am not new to Windows or dislike windows, but the installed image on this drive was so fragmented due to HP bloatware and needed updates that it was all unusable. Being in the IT field I was able to work around it, but can see why people would dislike it. The HP software while with good intent does a terrible job of handling the update process and fails or locks up most of the time. I decided to reemerge this laptop with a vanilla version of the W8.1 (tested w10 worked fine as well) and everything was working fine other than having to go through all this trouble. The worst offender I found is how funky the wifi reception can be on this laptop, as I was dropping wifi left and right while on the go. Also, at home it was significantly slower than Mid-2014 rMBP 15". I attribute that to the fact that the MacBook is a AC wifi laptop, but just keep the signal was just poor. The battery is a joke in this device even when not gaming and just surfing the web it was burning through it. The indicator would say something like 57% left or 118min, but in 20 minutes of youtube/web surfing it was dead. I had not had such bad battery life that I can recall in any device. Now I know this is a gaming device, but good god I am not gaming just surfing about some legs there... Now the gaming aspect was fine I had no issue what was strange is 30fps cap on most games. I was surprised, as on my gaming desktop a SLI killer set up same game no issues. I am not sure if it was a limitation due to the beautiful IPS based panel or not. However, Batman: AC, Borderlans1,2,Pre-Sequal, BF4 single and multi all ran at 30 FPS regardless of settings. I did look in the nvidia panel to see if it had some adaptive half refresh or something of that nature one, but not settings were available. In any case this laptop can be a little bit thicker for better battery life, cut back on the HP bloat ware please, and unlock the FPS limit thats on there. Over all I give this laptop a 3/5 good, not bad, not great either.

My son in college wanted a laptop for school and gaming. He was looking for a Dell but I asked my super tech geek friend what she recommended. She said this computer. Turns out she was right, better computer and less expensive than the one he was looking at. He is thrilled!

This laptop is used primarily for gaming. It has done excellently for playing high graphics games such as Battlefield 4. Love all the features. It also did not come pre loaded with too much bloatware. What was on the laptop was easily removed.

Very cool laptop! Super fast and good looking! The designers put a lot of attention in the details. The color adjustable fiber optic backlighting is a neat feature! The lighting in the speakers reacts to the sound...neat feature for about 5 minutes. Hated the Windows 8 that it came with but the upgrade to Windows 10 went fairly smoothly. It was necessary to download a compatibility patch from HP because Omen control quit working. Once that was done, there were no other issues. I'm happy with it.

Not exactly a blazing fast processor, but it's good enough. Nvidia 960, 8 GB mem, and a hard drive for all your applications (but maybe not a bunch of media) are all great components of a very capable and nice looking laptop. It's great for gaming at home, or running over to a friend's house for some gaming without the need for voip. Oh, and it's pretty sturdy. I was pretty rough with it once when I wasn't paying attention. There's no way you would know, though.

I think it is the most beautiful gaming laptop! The only problem is the adapter, there is always a ticking sound from it. Even I made an exchange form HP, it still happens. Overall, it is an super nice and quiet laptop.
