I bought this printer roughly 6 months ago, worked pretty decent. Until a month ago, a print head error came up and HP customer service took a week to send replacements that didn’t fix the problem. Now they are wanting the printer back to send the replacement. This process will take 14-21 days. In the meantime they want me to suck out the printer ink out of the current printer since they will not be sending more ink. This is a complete hassle, I wouldn’t recommend this printer or this company to anyone.

Unreliable printer. Prints only when it want to and not when you need it to print. So Unreliable Best Buy sell but dont deal with it. Best Buy only refers back to HP. Avoid it like plague.

HP Smart Tank

The HP Smart Tank 6001 is a color all-in-one inkjet printer designed for home and small office users who print in high volumes. Its most significant feature is the ink tank system, which replaces traditional cartridges with refillable bottles, leading to a much lower cost per page and significant savings over time.
### Key Features and Strengths
* **Cost-Effective Ink System:** This is the printer's main selling point. It comes with enough ink to print thousands of pages (up to 8,000 color and 6,000 black pages) and the refill bottles are much cheaper than individual cartridges. The refill process is designed to be clean and spill-free.
* **High Print Quality:** The printer delivers sharp, crisp text and vibrant, true-to-life colors. It has a print resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi for black and white and up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi for color. It can also produce borderless prints.
* **All-in-One Functionality:** It can print, scan, and copy, making it a versatile device for various tasks.
* **Automatic Duplex Printing:** This feature allows you to print on both sides of a page automatically, saving time and paper.
* **Wireless Connectivity:** The printer supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5G), Wi-Fi Direct, and mobile printing capabilities through the HP Smart app, Apple AirPrint, and Mopria. The "self-healing" Wi-Fi is designed to automatically detect and resolve connection issues.
* **Ease of Use:** Many users find the setup straightforward, and the HP Smart app is generally considered intuitive for printing, scanning, and copying from mobile devices.
### Potential Drawbacks and Considerations
* **Small Display:** The printer has a small, two-line LCD screen with "smart-guided buttons," which may not be as user-friendly as a full-color touch screen.
* **Connectivity Issues:** While it boasts "self-healing" Wi-Fi, some users have reported occasional connectivity problems that require troubleshooting.
* **Build Quality:** A few reviews mention that the printer feels somewhat "cheap and flimsy," particularly the paper trays and scanner lid.
* **No Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):** The 6001 model does not have an ADF, which means you have to manually load each page for scanning or copying multi-page documents.
* **Paper Handling:** The paper tray is a front-loading design, and some users find it awkward to use, especially for envelopes.
### Overall
The HP Smart Tank 6001 is a strong contender for anyone who prints a lot and is tired of the high cost of replacement ink cartridges. Its ink tank system is its biggest advantage, offering a low cost per page and a mess-free refilling experience. While it may lack some of the advanced features of more expensive models, such as a large touchscreen or an ADF, its excellent print quality, automatic duplexing, and wireless capabilities make it a great value for most home and small office needs.

Amazing All-in-One

This is an amazing printer. It includes everything you need, print (including double sided printing), copy, fax, and scan. You are also able to print a variety of sizes using different paper sizes and types. The print quality is amazing. All prints have been very clear and isn't pixelated. I tested out documented prints and photo prints and both were great, no complaints here. The print speed was good, its not laser print fast but its fast enough. The connection is great, since I connected it to my wifi, I haven't lost any connection, which is amazing. I cannot stress how annoying it is to reconnect a printer. I love the fact that it comes with up to 2 years of ink. Makes it an even more affordable printer. I also enjoy the ease of use and convenience of the HP Smart app. You can see how much ink you have left, if you need to refill the ink, you can print wirelessly from your phone and scan documents to be saved to your device as well. The connection from the HP Smart app is smooth. I can easily connect from my phone, laptop and iPad.
This printer fulfills all of my household needs and I highly recommend it for anyone who is in need of an all-in-one.

Previous comments on this item and many other printers that I went back and forth constantly reading reviews, made me take a week longer before finally deciding. What a waste of time! Bad reviews are situational and can cause confusion in making any decision especially the wrong decision. I AM SO PLEASED AND HAPPY I WENT WITH MY GUT! The ease of setup! Ease of loading ink! Ease of print from any device in house on same Wi-Fi is ALL, AMAZING! The amount of ink, quality of print, COULDN'T ASK FOR MORE. THEN catching it on a FABULOUS sale, I’m THRILLED with this purchase! Add in, knowing I have the BB annual membership with INCREDIBLE item purchase coverage IS WHAT SEALED THE SMART PRICE PURCHASE FOR ME! I may or hopefully may not need to use the membership extended service someday, but I know I’m protected! I feel THIS WAS a STELLAR PURCHASE! I grew up in printing, marketing and advertising business and continued on for 25 of my later years, so I am very picky about quality prints, this item is all I need for my in home, personal color printing!!!! Very impressed also with the size and weight, it is GREAT, perfect! It’s NOT that overwhelming piece in the room, doesn’t cause an oooff in the back to move it, AT ALL, actually quite feather weight! These days you see prices are so much more for a smaller, lower profile, lighter items like this, manufacturers know you want that convenience and that many are willing to pay extra for that convenience. I’M SO HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE!

The HP Smart Tank 6001 is a versatile and efficient all-in-one supertank inkjet printer that provides an excellent printing experience for home and small office use. As a user who has had the opportunity to use this printer extensively, I am delighted to share my thoughts and overall satisfaction with this product.
Starting with the design, the HP Smart Tank 6001 features a compact and sleek build that easily fits into any workspace. Its basalt color adds a touch of sophistication. The printer is well-constructed and feels sturdy, ensuring durability over time.
One of the standout features of the Smart Tank 6001 is its supertank system, which eliminates the need for frequent ink cartridge replacements. With the included ink bottles, you can fill up the tanks and enjoy up to two years of printing without worrying about running out of ink. This not only saves money but also reduces the hassle of constantly monitoring ink levels and purchasing replacements.
Setting up the printer was a breeze. The wireless connectivity options allow for easy integration into a network, enabling multiple devices to print wirelessly. The HP Smart app provides a user-friendly interface for managing print jobs, adjusting settings, and even scanning directly to your mobile devices. It's a convenient feature that enhances the overall printing experience.
In terms of performance, the Smart Tank 6001 delivers high-quality prints with sharp text and vibrant colors. Whether it's documents, photos, or graphics, the printer consistently produces impressive results. The print speed is decent, and the automatic two-sided printing feature helps save paper and time.
The scanning and copying functions of the Smart Tank 6001 are equally impressive. The flatbed scanner captures clear and detailed scans, while the copier reproduces documents accurately and efficiently. The automatic document feeder (ADF) allows for batch scanning and copying, making it a time-saving feature for larger projects.
The Smart Tank 6001 also offers versatile connectivity options. In addition to wireless printing, it has USB and Ethernet ports for direct connections. This flexibility ensures compatibility with various devices and networks, catering to different user preferences.
One minor drawback of the Smart Tank 6001 is the absence of a color touchscreen display. The control panel consists of buttons and a basic monochrome display, which may not offer the same level of convenience and intuitiveness as a touchscreen interface. However, the buttons are responsive, and the display provides the necessary information for basic printer operations.
In conclusion, the HP Smart Tank 6001 Wireless All-In-One Supertank Inkjet Printer is a reliable and cost-effective choice for users who require high-quality prints, scanning, and copying capabilities. Its supertank system ensures extended periods of printing without the need for frequent ink replacements, while the wireless connectivity and mobile app integration add convenience to the overall printing experience. Despite the lack of a color touchscreen, the printer's performance and versatility make it a valuable addition to any home or small office environment.

I found it relatively easy to set up using the HP Smart App on my phone. I had some difficulty with it connecting to the wifi using my desktop but got it done. While the HP Smart App allows you to do more things with the printer, I am disappointed that I can only scan using the app. I used to be able to push a button to scan. That being said, the instructions say you can scan multiple sized items at once and break them into different items, but I haven't tried it. So far the printer works fine.

HP Perfection!

I've been using HP printers for at least 10 years now. And I always got along "ok" with those printers, it always seemed like they would disconnect from wifi randomly(at the worst possible time) or I would forget to pay Instant Ink at the worst possible time.. but... I've been using the 6001 for about a month and I can say that without a doubt, this printer will leave you wanting for NOTHING! Except maybe something else to print. It says it comes with 2 years worth of ink, but I figured that was a stretch so I purchased a set of refills. It cost me less than 40$ for all 4 bottles. And then when I opened the printer, it really did come with full size refill bottles that will last forever. Print quality is superb. I've printed on everything from Parchment to high gloss premium paper and it's handled everything like a champ. Did I mention that it has duplex capability?? I didn't even know how much I missed that feature. It's also fast. It set up easily with HP Smart(make sure it connects to your 2.4 wifi if you have the 2.4/5 options..it doesn't play nice on the 5 for some reason). It's not exactly silent, but not at all loud either. It has a front load tray which is super convenient (fyi: if you're coming from a rear load HP like me.. the side facing up in the load tray is NOT the side that will be printed on). If you're looking for a new printer for home, work, school or any other reason, don't walk past this gem. It's reasonably priced, covers you on ink for the foreseeable future and will not disappoint! I'm sharing a very detailed and ink heavy picture(that i didn't hesitate to print 4 times and that didn't put a dent in my ink tanks btw). But it's on 2 different papers and in 2 different qualities just to show the quality of the prints. Pics were taken with an s23 ultra but I didn't edit or remaster, so just know that they look even better in person.. I hope this review helps you decide what I suitable for you and shared some features or info that you needed about the 6001. Happy Printing!!

The smarttank was easy to set up. Prints well and documents look good. I’ve had difficulty setting up the blue tooth. Supposedly because the printer is connected to the computer by WiFi instead of hardwired.
The reason we bought it was because our prior printers were drying out or jamming. It’s still early to determine if we’ve solved that issue.

I’ve been using the HP 6001, and it’s been a great experience. Fast, quiet, and reliable, it handles everyday printing with no issues. The print quality is sharp, whether it’s documents or images, and the ink lasts a long time, which is a big plus.
Setting it up was super easy, and the wireless connection works flawlessly. I can print from my laptop and phone without any hassle. It’s also compact and looks great on my desk.
If you need a solid, hassle-free printer for your home or office, the HP 6001 is a great choice. Definitely recommend!

I recently had the opportunity to try out the HP Smart Tank 6001 Wireless All-In-One Supertank Inkjet Printer, and I must say, it left quite an impression. This printer offers a combination of excellent print quality, wireless convenience, and long-lasting ink supply that is hard to beat.
First and foremost, the print quality of the HP Smart Tank 6001 is impressive. Whether it's text documents, colorful graphics, or high-resolution photos, this printer consistently delivers sharp and vibrant results. The colors are accurate, and the details are well-defined, making it suitable for both personal and professional use.
One of the standout features of this printer is its supertank ink system. With this system, you can say goodbye to constantly buying and replacing ink cartridges. The Smart Tank 6001 comes with up to 2 years of ink included, which is an incredible amount of ink that can save you a significant amount of money in the long run. The ink tanks are transparent, allowing you to easily monitor the ink levels and refill them when needed. Refilling is a breeze, thanks to the spill-free bottles that ensure a mess-free experience.
Setting up the HP Smart Tank 6001 is straightforward, and the wireless connectivity adds to its convenience. You can easily connect your devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets, to the printer using Wi-Fi, enabling seamless printing from anywhere within your home or office. Additionally, the printer supports mobile printing, which means you can print directly from your mobile devices using the HP Smart app.
The printer's all-in-one functionality is another bonus. It includes a scanner and a copier, allowing you to consolidate your office equipment into one device. The scanning performance is reliable, producing clear and accurate digital copies. The copier function works well, providing quick and crisp duplicates of your documents when needed.
However, there are a few areas where the HP Smart Tank 6001 could be improved. Firstly, the printer can be a bit noisy during operation, which might be a concern in quiet environments. Secondly, the printing speed, while decent for most home and small office needs, could be faster for large print jobs.
In conclusion, the HP Smart Tank 6001 Wireless All-In-One Supertank Inkjet Printer offers an impressive combination of excellent print quality, long-lasting ink supply, and wireless convenience. Its supertank ink system saves you money and eliminates the hassle of frequently replacing cartridges. The wireless connectivity and mobile printing capabilities add to its user-friendly nature. Despite a few minor drawbacks, the HP Smart Tank 6001 is a reliable and cost-effective printer that delivers on its promises.

This was given to me as a gift. After having used the Smart Tank 5101 in an in-store demo, I was impressed with the quality of a photo printed on standard copy paper. Currently, the smart tanks carried in-store use the same print head so the quality will be the same on 5101, 6001, and 7602. A good friend purchased this one for me, as he knows I print a ton, as I make signs for work and paper dioramas. I have used other brands and have gone back to HP every time based on quality. I have used instant ink on my previous printer with no issues, however, my printing increased and my old printer was no longer supported in Windows 10 so It printed in black and white.
The setup was easy, I do not know why people have so many problems. If you follow the directions printed and use the HP Smart app (make sure you download the official HP one and not one that "works with HP printers", so scan the QR code) remove the tape and cardboard was inside, and then follow the directions on the app to fill the tanks and install the print head. it's not difficult, it goes in just like putting in a new cartridge.
The first printout was bad, but give it a second try and it will be fine.
This printer is great and I even recycled my old Deskjet towards the cost of this (at the time was $30 rebate). It was a great early birthday present.

The Smart Tank 6001 replaced my nearly 7 year old HP Envy 7000 series printer to handle my work from home and school printing needs. Getting the printer out of the box and set up as a wireless printer was quick and easy. The new Smart Tank prints at a much higher quality than the older HP Envy, and it also has a smaller footprint in my home office. I purchased a stand-alone document scanner a few years ago because the built in scanner on my HP Envy was so bad. The new Smart Tank scanner actually works and I can get rid of an additional piece of equipment. My only complaint is that I do a fair amount of document scanning and having a one touch scan to PC button would be very convenient.

Printer worked great for 2 months for my mother, then she couldn’t access it on her WiFi anymore and nothing we could do to remedy the situation worked. We tried LITERALLY everything. The best plan was to plug the printer in via Ethernet to a WiFi range extender tied to the home network. Surprise! The printer was pointedly designed without an Ethernet port! What a quirky and fun design touch, HP! Good for you — and thanks for never looking out for your end user! I only bought this printer for her so HP could stop charging me on cycles for “fresh” ink cartridges that I knew weren’t empty, but I guess that’s what I get for thinking they’d make a product with the consumer’s best interests in mind. I ordered one for myself before all this started happening with my mom’s, and it’s been fine so far… So here’s an extra overall star, as much as it pains me. I just want a printer that isn’t designed to fleece me, but apparently that’s too much to ask in HP’s eyes.
