If you are someone intrigued but not ready to go all in on smart home tech, the Roomba 105 is a great entry robot into the robot vacuum world — its easy for the most part in all the basics. Installation was easy: Simply download the iRobot app, connect to Wi-Fi, and you’re off and running. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant, which is convenient for lazy cleanup commands when your hands are dirty (or you just don’t feel like getting up). In terms of what’s under the hood, it does a fine job of dealing with dust, crumbs and pet hair on hard floors and low-pile carpets, but it won’t deep-clean like a Dyson. It’s more of a “bumble around and figure it out” rather than a laser-guided precision navigation—there will be some walls and spinning in circles going on—but eventually it does the trick. Don’t expect it to chart out your house or remember rooms; it’s more of a set-it-and-forget-it bot. Battery life is okay — a couple of rooms per charge, enough but not so much that you can forget about it — but if it dies midway through a job, it won’t finish the task it was trying to do for you. You’re going to empty the bin with some frequency, too; you’ll fill it up fast. The Roomba 105 Pros: What makes this robot vacuum stand out The Roomba 105 is a premium robot vacuum that's built to last and comes equipped with an array of convenient features. If you want more intelligence and navigation, you’ll have to pay more — but for straightforward, scheduled vacuuming, this little guy does what it’s supposed to.

This does a good job as an automated vacuum. Roombas that I've had in the past have gotten stuck everywhere and failed to run, but no such issues with this model. The dock is minimal and doesn't take much room on the wall. You have all of the controls that you'd expect through the app to set up whatever schedule you might want. The one way that this does stand out from others that I've tried is being able to select the depth of cleaning that you would like. You can select Light, Normal, or Deep, and even choose which rooms you would like it to clean. I generally have it run on Light, but have tried Deep once, and the battery level became an issue. I live in a 700sqft place with a fair amount of furniture, but running on Deep clean had the Roomba run for about 40 minutes before needing to recharge, then complete the cleaning cycle. This is something to schedule for when you are away, otherwise you'll be hearing this run more loudly, go back and charge, come on again, etc... As a simple automatic vacuum, this is a great and inexpensive option. I can see this taking care of one level of the house that is entirely carpeted. If you have hardwood floors, you're going to want to spring for one of the (much) more expensive options that also mops.

This is a good basic option for a robot vacuum cleaner. We've had several from this brand before and I can't say enough good things about how easy set up is with this particular brand. The box contains everything you need for initial set up and cleaning and it's fairly easy to find replacement parts online as needed for filters and the little spinning brushes or bristles as needed. We've gifted a few of these for elderly family members to help with smaller day to day messes and general up keep on dust. We got this once to stay in the play area and our kids rooms. So far it's doing a great job of keeping up with dust and small messes and can maneuver pretty easily around beds, furniture and toy boxes. It's not super loud or annoying and the app makes it easy to schedule cleanings or start an additional clean cycle if desired. Our youngest is afraid of most vacuums but this is quiet enough and fun to watch so there are less tantrums when it's time to vacuum. Good encouragement for the kids to clean up their spaces so the robot can go to work as well. If you will be using this heavily or daily I would recommend going with a self emptying model vs this style though.

This is my second iRobot I have one in my upstairs living area and it has performed perfectly. It is the i5+ version. I wanted one for my downstairs den area and this unit is a perfect choice for that area. The installation was easy except for some confusion as to the proper APP to use. This unit seems to require a different APP. This is not a big issue for me. I downloaded the APP and followed the setup instructions. The unit then made a map of the rooms to clean. It learned it quickly and correctly. There was no issue to transition between bare floor and a thin pile area rug in the space. I ran a cleaning and it performed as expected. It did a great job especially along the baseboards. I then discovered it is possible to spot clean by just pointing to an area on the map. That worked just fine. I then setup a routine to clean at specific times and days. There is a good integration with Alexa. I can command either one to begin a cleaning. I also get alerts when cleaning is complete or if any assistance is needed. This is a great feature since the voice on the unit itself is a bit low. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to friends and family. Its so nice not to have to lug out the big bulky vacuum, especially as I get older.

Roomba has been the leader for years, so I wanted to stick with what I trust Roomba has many options so know what your preferred feature before you buy I went for the 105 since I did not need a bunch of “bells and whistles” Don’t get me wrong, this one does everything I wanted. First the emptying dock. This took one of the hassles from the old versions away The app is super easy to use and you don’t even have to leave the couch to get it going Voice control is cool, but not for me The quality of the vacuum results is outstanding. Roomba really upped the suction power on this one My biggest issue was resolved with a better routing and lidar control. While not perfect, it is a huge step up from older models. Chasing the robot around to get it unstuck is no longer required Shipping from BestBuy was quick and the price was competitive Packing material and unboxing was also simple and efficient Would I buy this again? Absolutely. The upgrades from prior models is noticeable and worth the investment

I was shocked to finally see a more affordable Roomba!! With LiDar! We have been using this for about two weeks now and I couldn't be more pleased this time around. You see, this is the second Roomba we've had here at the homestead, the first one we had at our price range was about five years ago. What a difference half a decade can make in tech, let's unpack the upgrades for lower middle class family can afford. Tech has come a long way from bouncing off objects and hoping that your robot has cleaned your floors, only to get your broom out and finishing the job yourself. We gave up on that old robot about four years ago and I remember thinking that it was going to be a long time before I get another one, until now. As I was unpacking the new vac, I was thinking the whole time to be careful with the packaging because I was sure that this vac was going right back to where it came from. It took no time at all to realize this robot was so much better than the last one we had. After downloading the new app the first order of business for the vac was to map out the house and divide all the rooms up, which was done flawlessly. After mapping I programmed in a schedule and within a cup of coffee setup was complete! End results: After two weeks of using this very affordable vacuum robot, I don't have to get out my broom to cleanup spots missed anymore. This vac runs back and forth in straight lines not missing anything in it's path and along the walls and around furniture it has a side sweeper to pull in dirt from along the edges of objects. I also noticed that when it gets to an object such as furniture the vac turns so that the side sweeper is on the right side, I don't think the old one did that. I have a combination of tile and hardwood floors and the last robot I had would get stuck on the seem where they meet. The wood that covers the seem raises up about half inch from the floor and it was difficult for the old robot to maneuver over it, not this new robot, it rolls right over it no problem. Next on the app, I setup a blocked location to see how it reacts. The vac performed as expected, went right around the blocked location, cleaning everything as normal except the location I had blocked. All I have to do is empty it out every other week, but there is one thing that every vacuum has a problem with "ANIMAL HAIR"! My pom sheds hair like nobodies business and when I first ran the vacuum, hair got all in the wheels and wrapped around the brushes. Roomba comes with a little onboard tool to help clean it up and cut anything that might get entangled. Also the robot has a problem with rugs that you might have in front of the door, the rug would get caught and a couple of times I had to intervein and help the robot get separated. This is the reason why the four star review, but I would recommend this everyone who is in the market for a vacuum just use the app and block those areas or Velcro your rugs down.

While this Roomba 105 Robot Vacuum is on the more inexpensive side, the standard quality of the iRobot brand is still very much there. I’ve owned several other robot vacuums and this one seems to perform on par with those, for the most part, so far. You’ll need to install the iRobot Home app. Setup is fairly straightforward. Take some time to get to know the various settings in the app. There are helpful tips, too. Your Roomba will need to get a ‘lay of the land’ by doing an initial learning survey/map of the space you want it to clean. This iRobot Roomba does come with an extra filter, but you are able to buy replacement accessories through the app itself. One of the features I appreciate the most is how the Roomba is able to go from one type of floor surface to another, effortlessly. It can’t handle thick carpet or shag rugs, but low pile carpet or area rugs present no problem at all. Of course, it’s hard to tell how good (or not so good) any vacuum cleans other than by sight or by the amount of dirt it collects inside the dust bag or bin. But I do think that this Roomba does a pretty decent job of cleaning my area rug and tile floors. When I emptied the dust compartment after the first time I’d used this robot vac, the bin was full. Either my floors were extra dirty (a definite possibility) or this model Roomba cleans really, really well. While this Roomba is by no means quiet, as with all of these types of robot vacuums, it isn’t any louder than others I’ve owned; it actually sounded somewhat quieter. Now, if you’re going to be using this robot vacuum around pets, please be aware that they may be afraid of this device. I have two dogs, one is deaf, the other is not. My non-hearing impaired dog gets really stressed out when the Roomba is going about its circuit. I run the vac once a week on Sunday, while the dogs are in their crates for the night, and have had to position a gate in the corner of the dining room so that the robot can’t get anywhere close to them. Can I recommend this Roomba 105 Robot Vacuum? Yes. It’s reasonably priced, though basic compared to the more expensive models, performs more than adequately, and is of the same build quality as other iRobot vacuum models. In my opinion (and I’m being serious here), I truly do think that this Roomba 105 cleaned better than those higher priced robot vacuums I’ve owned previously.

Having owned several robot vacuums in my past, I wondered what iRobot had come up with to make cleaning easier. I am not sure what the buying decision outcome would be had I known that this was just an average performer. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I'm never impressed when I have to install yet another app to make something work. Not only did I have to do so with this one, the older iRobot app I already had would not connect with this. Once I allowed time for the battery to fully charge, I went to the app and found this had to map the area I was going to clean. In my many encounters with other robot vacuums, they just started cleaning with a push of button and some did a nice job. There is only one brush at the front to get the edges. Some have two. They always have worked better. My impression of this one was strictly to cut costs and not to improve performance. After my robot mapped the room, I had it do its first cleaning cycle. The results were okay but nothing special. The run time was particularly less than a cheap unit I had bought years ago. And that one had two twirling brushes and a main beater brush. It also did a better job and didn't need to map anything. CONCLUSION This is not worse than other robots but it is not special in any way. The app is nice to tell it to clean but cheaper ones can do this with one touch. I can walk to the vacuum with no problem and an app seems a bit of a waste of time.

I received this iRobot Roomba and so far I am very well pleased. Our home is two story and we have a robot vacuum that we use exclusively upstairs, and we still used a regular vacuum for the downstairs. Again, I must say we have been well pleased. The robot vacuum came very well packaged in an outer box, and the packaging from iRobot really protects this product. We plugged in the “home base” and I already had the iRobot App on our cell phones so it was only a couple of minutes that we had the vacuum connected. The initial “learning” of the vacuum went well, there was one hiccup that occurred that messed it up and I had to redo it, our grandson had been playing in the family room downstairs and had left a lot of toys out and once if finished I had to go see what the issue was. Once we did it again it has worked perfectly. The thing I really like about this iRobot vacuum is that it cleans many surfaces. Our flooring downstairs in linoleum, short carpet, and long carpet. I was pleasantly surprised after the first initial cleaning how much it picked up. It really did a phenomenal job of cleaning not only the linoleum but the carpets as well. The App is super easy to use and control the vacuum, I like that you can schedule the times to clean. If you are in the market for a reasonably priced and good robot vacuum, I would recommend the iRobot Roomba 105.

Robotic vacuum cleaners aren’t for everybody. Definitely not for people with large areas to clean and definitely not for people with lots of pet hair to contend with. However, all of the early robot models I saw probably weren’t very useful to anybody. I think that this new Roomba 105 changes that. There are three selling points to this model that transform it from a gadget into a useful tool. (1) LIDAR space mapping allows the vacuum to scan your rooms before going to work. Instead of going on blind walks and avoiding obstacles only after bumping into them, this Roomba starts with a plan and begins a sophisticated attack. This works in tandem with an excellent app. (2) While no vacuum with a tiny format like this can compete with a standing corded vacuum, this new Roomba is powerful enough to compete with good cordless vacuums. It has phenomenal suction and a generous-ish debris cavity (larger than most). (3) A powerful beater bar that actually lifts dirt and debris from carpets and floors. Functionally, this is probably what makes this a working vacuum. Even better, the bar can be removed simply without tools for cleaning. As far as I can tell, there is no way to use this new Roomba without the application, but I’m not really mad about that since they seem to have designed the application so well. Enthusiastically recommended.

I recently acquired this iRobot Roomba 105 Robot Vacuum to replace an older robot vacuum from a lesser known brand, and I must say, the Roomba has truly transformed my cleaning routine as compared to my previous one. From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by how user-friendly it is. The smart mapping feature is a game changer; it effortlessly navigates through my home, ensuring that every corner gets the attention it deserves. With just one touch of a button, I can set it off to clean while I do other tasks or just simply relax. One of the best parts is that once it's done cleaning, it automatically docks itself to recharge, so I never have to worry about it running out of battery. It’s like having a little helper that takes care of the dirty work for me! However, I did notice that while it does a great job mapping out my space, it doesn’t cover every inch perfectly. There are times when it misses a spot or two, which can be a bit frustrating if you really want a spotless floor. The app itself is easy to use and intuitive. However, I found myself wishing for a remote control feature. It would be incredibly convenient to have the option to guide vacuum manually if it overlooks an area. Overall, the iRobot Roomba 105 robot vacuum has made my life easier, but a few enhancements could take it from great to fantastic.
