I purchased these RP260F for the front L/R speakers in a 5.1 HT setup primarily, but we also listen to various music in 2.1 or 2.0 mode. I have these matched up with RP450C center channel and a set of RP150M rear speakers, and an older 10-inch infinity sub (down to 27 Hz). The sound from these speakers is exceptional, even to the point of leaving me overly impressed beyond my expectations. They provide crystal clear dialogue which is needed for HT, a great sound stage, and uncompromising and precise clarity at all volume levels. These get down to 34 Hz and provide great full range sound. Even though you wouldn't have to, you may still want a subwoofer for a true HT low end, which should reach down in the 20 Hz range (or even lower). I have these RP260F crossed over with my receiver at 40Hz, and let the subwoofer handle everything below that range and it all mixes to perfection. People whom hear it always have to ask where the subwoofer is located, which if you have an HT system setup correctly is precisely the way it should be. The RP260F add a nice rich sound that accompanies the subwoofer well. These speakers have very high sensitivity so it doesn't take much power to push out sound, and there is absolutely no distortion whatsoever, even at levels that reach a point that you probably can't handle the sound level or you will cause permanent hearing damage. They do take a bit to break in so don't judge them too quickly as they can be a bit bright out of the box, give them time. We have a 16x31 room and they provide more than adequate sound pressure to provide legitimate /realistic HT experience, they certainly bring action scenes to an entirely new level and being able to lower the crossover frequency removes some of the muddiness that a subwoofer can produce when you send too high of frequency to it, so I recommend a good set of floor standing speakers for fronts to produce better bass, relative to satellites or even bookshelf speakers. The RP260F are relatively large so you will need the space. Overall, these things are more than I could have expected and I might add they look amazing with the veiled black/copper. The reference premiere line of speakers is outstanding value and quality (much better than the reference line and at not much more cost if you wait for the sales). The Reference Premiere line also has lots of various options (e.g., Atmos, surrounds, bookshelf, in-ceiling, etc) so they can be suited for any room and/or design setup and still all voice-match sound. You can also read my reviews of the RP450C and RP150M at best buy website. All of these speakers in this line match perfectly in look and sound. Buy them...Enjoy them...you won't be disappointed! Have a theatre room and need clear, quality sound from your speakers? These speakers are great in quality, sound wonderful and make our at home theatre sound better than going the movies. I cannot wait to order additional speakers for the room.
