I looked at Apple iPad Air and Mini with Retina, but decided to buy this LG Pad for two reasons: * I find iPad Air too big to hold, esp with one hand. * Was very tempted to buy the Mini with Retina, but dropped that idea because I own an Android phone and didn't want to remember two ways of doing everything. Coming to pros/cons of the LG Pad.. Pros: * I personally like the 8/8.5" screen size better than smaller 7" tablets or bigger 10" ones * I would have liked the tablet to be slightly lighter than it is, but still it's not bad and holding it for an hour or two doesn't cause any inconvenience. * You can open an app such as notepad in a pop-up window which stays on top of any other app that might be running. That way you can keep let's say a web page visible, look at some info on it and note it down in a notepad. * After a full recharge, battery easily lasts for 7/8 hours. Things that could have been better: * Quality of pics clicked with this tablet is not too great. * Speakers are of average quality. There are some other features which I haven't tried yet but could be useful, such as: "Q Pair" which lets you pair the tablet with any Android smartphone (get call notifications, memo transfer), "Q Remote" - use the tablet as a remote control for your TV. Hope this review helps you in making your decision.

This is the first time I have ever bought a tablet sight unseen, other than the preliminary reviews of it. The extra inch of landscape over a 7 inch tablet is very much appreciated, while still being able to slip this thing easliy into a back pocket or holding it for video watching. Blazingly fast, great screen, very good battery life, micro sd card, loud speakers, no lag. Plays video intensive games without skipping a beat. Other than wanting a LTE version, which is coming soon, I am very pleased. I've owned Samsung, Motorola, and Nexus tablets, and this one has them all beat.

With all the hoopla of Kindle,Apple Ipad and Samsung Galaxy tab the LG G Pad has been looked over. This is a blazing fast tablet and guess what? Surprise the LG G2 does not have micro sd expansion but this tablet does? Hmm??? Only reason I even bought this tablet was that fact.. I am tired of Apple and other companies nickel and diming you for extra space. that is how they are forcing Cloud on everyone! Need more space use Cloud. Apple and lots of other companies are vested in this so of course they want it to succeed. I am 100% against this. I feel it should be up to us if we want to expand are devices with a card and not have to buy or get virtual space for storage so they can monitor what we purchase. it cost Apple less than $5 bucks to go from 16gb to 32gb memory but charge a $100 for every tier $500 for 16gb,$600 for 32gb,$700 for 64gb and so on this is stupid. It should be less than $15 bucks to jump to next upgrade not $100 but everyone pays and they keep charging for it. Bravo for LG to take a stand and go against the grain at least on their Tablets and I wish they would do same on Smartphones. This tablet is amazingly fast accurate reliable and easy on the eyes and guess what? I leave it at 50% brightness and get longer life than my Ipad at 25% Really what is up with all the smartphones and tablets making u use them at 25% or less to get any descent battery life? It defeats the whole purpose of those beautiful screens to have to dim them so low. The LG G Pad Pops at 50% and I get at least 8-10hours depending on what I am doing on it. If I am streaming Netflix then about 8. Facebook and web searching I get 9-10 easy. At auto setting like Ipad I can go almost a week with minor browsing and game playing compared to having to charge Ipad every 2 days with Internet and FB'ing. It has Amazing features and syncs perfect with your smartphone and even easier if you have an LG G2. You can watch a You Tube video and browse at same time. it will keep video in small box while you search or play a game. There are so many features I cannot list them all but suffice it to say this is one Awesome tablet I am glad I took a chance on. There are many reviews about this tablet and all of them give this tablet two thumbs up. This is the Sleeper Tablet of The Year! Do yourself a favor and get one you will not regret it...

This is the only Android tablet I've found that competes with the iPads. Design wise it is beautiful, very slim and light, easy to hold, bright screen with high resolution. Speed wise, it is very quick with only minor slowdowns here and there. Software is nice with a good interface, but why does LG insist on not having a multitasking button and going against the Google standard? That is remedied by rooting and loading G2 Xposed. Battery life is on the order of 7 hours, plenty to get through a day or two. I'm very happy with my 8.3. Only complaints is I wish the speakers were on the front, and the buttons were standard Google.

I bought this tablet to replace an Asus Memo Pad HD7. The Asus was a solid device for the price, but the the power just wasn't where I needed it to be. I use the tablet for college courses and personal use at home. Pro's -Great 8.3" screen -Plenty of power to run Android -Polaris Office 5 is the best Android office solution I've ever used -Gives iPad Mini a heck of a run. -Screen is basically the perfect size. Not as small as the Nexus 7, but not as bulky, or as expensive as the iPad Air. Con's -LG puts the stupid Android Skin on it. Still hasn't updated to 4.4.2 like its Google Play Edition cousin. -Can be a little bulky as an e-reader, if you were so inclined to use it as such. -Serious lack of accessories. Even for an Android tablet I was shocked by the lack of screen protectors, cases, and other options. LG doesn't even have its own smart cover for the device which was very surprising giving the stature of the device. The verdict. I got a heck of a good price on the device because of Best Buy's awesome price match system. I was originally planning on the Nexus 7 but the price I got it for was worth it with the micro sd slot and larger and superior screen.

Having owned 10+ tablets since the 1st gen iPad I definitely rank this one at or near the top. The 8.3 screen size is perfect. I loved my Nexus 7 but always wished the screen was a tad bigger. Combine that with expandable memory and IR blaster and it justifies the increase cost. Only complaint....nu inductive charging capabilities.

Bought this for my wife to replace her iPad - this turned out to be a win. The screen on this is outstanding, really bright, crisp and easy to read. The knock-on feature is cool but the note overlay feature(don't recall the actual name) is useless. It allows you to mark up a screen, save it & email but it's not very well thought out. The Qpair feature works well done and can be useful. *tip... When you first fire this up it says you need to update this app but trying to update from Play store it says "not compatible with your device", turns out you need to update this from the LG update app in your app drawer. The standard keyboard is great but my wife did mention that because the space bar is so small & centrally located she often inadvertently hits "home" when hitting space as the gap is very small. The tablet is fast and handles everything you throw at it. The only slight negative I could fine is the overall battery life. It's not terrible by any means but it would be nice to get a little more time out of it. Overall I think this is an excellent tablet and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I debated between this and the Galaxy Note 8 - although the S Pen is a neat feature on the Galaxy I found that the display(full HD vs 1280x800) and overall feel/usability was cleaner on the LG.

I bought this as an upgrade to my Viewsonic gTablet. Although the 10" size of the gtablet made for easy reading it also made it heavy and cumbersome. I looked at 7" tablets and the screen size didn't do it for me.The 8" size was the perfect combination of size and weight - it's easy to carry everywhere and I can actually read it without my reading glasses. I generally only use a tablet for web browsing, e-reading, etc. as I use a laptop for more heavy duty applications so the processor speed is perfect for me. I can't say what it would be like for a more power user but frankly, who is going to do word processing or spreadsheets on an 8" screen?

I bought both of my parents tablets for early birthday presents. I got my mom a 7 inch tablet because she wanted something small but I knew my dad wanted something bigger but a size that would still be easy to carry around. I did a TON of research on every tablet, brand, etc trying to figure out what to get for him. I arrived at this tablet and I'm so happy I did. It is very fast with the 1.7 ghz quad core processor and 2GB ram, even the most graphic intense games run flawlessly. I was going to get the more expensive Samsung tab pro 8.4 for myself until I played around with this and realized the extra money was just for the .1 inch size. I use it as the remote for my TV and can control my DVR recordings and anything else on my came box with it. It has already upgraded to kitkat so don't worry about it not coming with it. You won't be disappointed with this awesome tablet.

I use it for perspnal and for work applications. The screen is very good and easy to see from about any angle. A great purchase for me.

I sold my laptop and got the lg g pad. I can take it with me easily everywhere i go, unlike the macbook pro 13 that is kind of bulky and heavy. I can easily do almost everything on the tablet that i could do on the laptop, and if i need a computer i can use the old desktop PC i have at home. The tablet is fast, the graphics are great, and i love the size. It is perfect for viewing photos, watching videos and shows, and although the speakers are not great, listening on headphones is very nice. Also great for facebook and twitter!g

LG put a lot of love in designing the G Pad 8.3. It's one premium tablet with a very slim and good-looking body. It's not so small, but it's narrow and light enough to hold comfortably.

I am always using my tablet. It pairs very easy. It's much lighter than I thought given that it is a quad core...not heavy at all. Easy to keep clean. I use to own a kindle but ended up selling. Comparing the two...this tab makes the kindle seem like a toy. It's sleek, fun, fast and easy to use.

I exchanged a Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 for this LG G Pad 8.3, and I am so glad that I did. The Galaxy Tab was good, but is more for the casual user. I'm a technology geek and want the best of everything, and this fit the bill in (just about) every way. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and it is lightning fast. Everything runs smoothly, without any hiccups and has some cool features. The only gripe I really have with it is the speaker placement and sound. The speaker is placed on the bottom of the tablet (in portrait mode), so when you watch a video or listen to music, or anything that involves Sound, in landscape mode, the sound comes out of just one side and feels like you're missing a speaker, on the other side. Also, the sound feels kind of "tinny" like your listening through a tin can. It's not completely horrible, but it's not great, by any means. Also, the tablet is a little on the expensive side, but it is, by far, the best 8 inch tablet available, so it is worth the extra cash, if you can afford it.

I got this instead of a Samsung tablet and very glad I did. I have had Samsung tablets in the past and although they are very good, this LG is excellent in every way. The feel, the weight and screen clarity are the best. Very fast processor as well. No hesitation when you change from app to app. Has a note feature as well, sorry, forget the actual name but works very well. You can write yourself a note of any kind and attach it to an email very easily. Can also attach pics as other tablets do.

I chose this to get the MicroSD slot. You can also choose to get the Google Play version that does not have the LG specific enhancements, which will get you a purer Google experience. I think most of the average folks would find more value in the LG additions. I did find a good case, but it took a lot of effort because this LG is so new and Nexus and Samsung have been around for a while. It has better specs than the Nexus 7 and is hands down better than the performance you would get from Samsung's abysmal GPU. The Nexus 7 is 1920x1080 while the LG is 1920x1200 and an inch bigger as well. If you aren't going to get an iPad Mini with Retina, this one edges out the Nexus 7. Unless you MUST have the Note stylus, and are also OK with really bad graphics/gaming performance, don't get a Samsung. The built-in speaker is just bad. It's almost like it's been covered by the back and so it just sounds muffled and tinny. Turning it up to hear it better just makes it sound all the more awful. For movie watching you WILL want to use headphones, or a bluetooth speaker such as the Bose Soundlink Mini. Also worth noting, the boxes are not factory-sealed; they open right up. If someone compared the black and white side-by-side, and then someone put them back away in the wrong boxes, well you could end up with the wrong one. Do look to make sure you're getting the right color before you head to checkout. Each box contains the Tablet, a nice heavy quality Micro-USB cord, and a 1.8 Amp output AC-to-USB charging plug. The case I found is the IVSO Slim Smart Cover Case for LG G PAD 8.3 Edition Tablet with Auto Sleep/Wake Function on Amazon.

Very thin and easy to hold onto with one hand. The display is great! It looks really nice when watching videos on YouTube. Camera isn't that great to take pictures with but it's still doable. Has Remote access but wished it was more compatible with more off brand tv's.
