After getting my Smartthings V2 hub for home automation, I was looking for some smart led bulbs that was able to change colors. I was looking at the Philips Hue starter kit, but didn't like the idea that I needed to use their controller as a bridge to work with Smartthings hub. After finding out about Lifx - Color 1000 smart led bulb, and reading tons of reviews I decided to buy one to test it out myself. I was very happy with how easy it was to setup and add to my Smartthings hub. Since the Lifx - Color 1000 connects to you wifi network you do not need a controller like the Philips Hue does. For around the same price I would of paid for the Philips Hue starter kit (3 color changing bulbs and one controller) I could just order the 4 bulb pack of the Lifx - Color 1000, and get 4 bulbs and save $10. As of right now I am running 7 of the Lifx - Color 1000, 5 are used as outside lighting and they are all working great. I have the Smartthings hub automatically turn the lights on a sunset and off at sunrise. Added two photos, one at Easter were each of the lights were changing colors individually by using one of the many options that are in the Lifx app. Next after updating our landscape lighting to cool white leds, we were able to dial in the Lifx - Color 1000 white settings to 4500k (Cool Day Light), to match the cool white landscape light color. You just can't go wrong with these smart led bulbs, with brightness, to tons of color and whiteness setting and fun things to try with Lifx app.

These lights are great! I now have 3 and they are nearly perfect. They have much better color representations than the Philips Hue smart bulbs and don't require a hub to connect to function. I've had occasional hiccups where one bulb would lose connection to my wifi but overall I'm very pleased.

I love my lifx bulbs but had a couple hiccups setting them up. First the App (for IOS) allowed me to register with a typo in the email address after the @ sign. I put in .co instead of .com. This meant I had to manually reset the all bulbs which was a tedious process, you manually power cycle the bulbs till they blink red. Would be great if you could just do it in the app. Second problem I have had is integrating with my echo. At first the two struggled to communicate after the latest software though this issue has been resolved.

First off; I love my Lifx lights in my room. They have so many color variations, the app is easy to use, the possibilities around the house are endless, I love the ability to name lights, group them, and schedule them to come on. That will be great when traveling. The lights have the ability to run themes (blended preset colors or custom themes you can save) that are so simple to use and it knew I had 3 lights to use. I love some of these themes so much that its a joy to wake up and "feel" the color wash over the room. Absolute joy is as true as I can be!!! Other bulbs have a real problem with the blue color; Lifx nails them!!! The only issue that I have and the only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating is probably mostly my fault. Out of three bulbs in one ceiling fan; I have made too many changes and one will lose sync. It will catch up eventually and shutting the app (or light switch off) can help with that. At one point I had three people on three apps adjusting the lights at the same time and they were "confused". ...again, my fault mostly but that lag to "catch up" is a bit long at times. It will be a lot easier when I get my Amazon Echo to control them verbally too!! Can't wait. I highly recommend these lights. I can't wait to replace my 6 bathroom "bulb style" lights with 3 (only white) and 3 (color) lifx bulbs. I'll group them in the app so I can control what kind of light I want in the room with 3 running at any time (which will provide MORE than enough light). I'll have the whites work in unison and the color work the same. I may never leave that room now. A bath will be so relaxing! LOL

    These bulbs work well

I have an original color bulb so I figured I'd go out and pick up one of the new smaller color bulbs. The smaller size is nice but when I got home and tried connecting the bulb I kept getting an error while connecting within the app. I never had an issue with the original bulb. I even tried removing my older bulb and reconnected without trouble. I figured the the bulb was bad so I wrote the company to see if their tech support had and ideas I hadn't though of. I power cycled my modem, router, and switch. Tried resetting the bulb. Tried using a different 2.4GHz network and even tried using an android phone over the iOS app. No luck. I ended up returning and reordering the bulb, the next day customer service replied stating that my request had been fwd'd to an engineer for review. Few days later my new bulb arrived but still couldn't connect. So I did some more research and stumbled on the wifi settings these new bulbs require. Turn out having the 2.4GHz network set to N only and auto channel would not let the bulbs connect. I changed from N/auto channel to legacy G/N and a set channel and the bulb connected fine. The older bulb never had this trouble. Nice thing is I can still have my phone connected to my 5 GHz network and still connect with the bulb on the 2.4GHz network (same router). Two weeks later I have still not heard back from Lifx but the bulbs works fine. They just have some buggy firmware right now. The app could use another update as well. iOS app works fine but I'm not sure what the problem with the android apps is.

    LIFX lights rock!

I was looking for a lighting solution for my media room that would allow me to change the colors, brightness, and cut my electrical usage with LED technology. I considered the Philips Hue and the LIFX, but chose the LIFX bulbs because you don't need a "hub" device and simply screw them in like a regular light bulb. With the LIFX app I can control all four bulbs together or change them independently. Now I can bring down the room lights as the movie begins and bring them back up after the movie all from my phone. There are also some cool effects that you can set, such as having them respond to music or movie sound. Overall, these bulbs rock!

Setup was quick & easy. The colors are readily available to choose from, however certain colors could be brighter. The only other thing LIFX needs to address is the music sync capability. It does not seem to change colors as fast as another company's - ILUMI bulb. I have both so as to make a comparison between the two. Overall nice bright colors & ambiance. Would like to see lower prices on them in the future- so I can add them everywhere. Also would like to be able to put them in enclosed light fixtures, but I believe they get too hot presently.

Works well. You just plug it into a light socket, download the Lifx app, and follow the instructions to connect. This is our second bulb, but first color one. Its currently used on our porch and haven't really had a problem yet. My main purpose for this was to have timers set for the lights to come on at sunset and come off at sunrise. My wife loves this as she likes to change colors for different holidays. I just love that I don't have to purchase a hub for them to connect.

I really love this lightbulb. It can definitely compete against the Phillips Hue light bulb series if you ask me simply because you don't have to spend over $200 just to get a lightbulb that has the same color range and can offer the same lasting effects that the Phillips Hue requires. Unlike the Phillips Hue, the LIFX bulb doesn't need a hub so all you do is screw in the bulb, download the app, and you are done. I cannot say enough good things about the bulb itself, go ahead and buy one now. You won't be dissapointed

The Lifx bulb is great! Set up was very easy and the app is good but could use some improvements (like keeping color cycle on without the phone's screen on, HomeKit support). The bulb is very bright and it is great that you don't need a hub! It also works great with the Harmony Home Control remote.

The LIFX bulbs are easy to install and configure. Love the fact that you have a full color spectrum as well as a range of white light to select from. They aren't much more than regular LED bulbs and it is worth the little extra that you pay for them to have the flexibility of changing the colors. It's also awesome that you can configure scenes and schedules with the Android/ or IOS app. My living spaces are now awash in color.

lights are well made, bright and easy to use. Some improvements to the LIFX app happen occasionally but the biggest issue I had dropping my rating to a 4 was that for more than a few days I had to constantly hw reset my bulbs as they spontaneously dropped off the network. I had followed all the fixes in LIFX's FAQ without success so I wrote to them. They wanted me to send diagnostics, which I did but forgot too reference my ticket #, so they closed my original ticket and never opened one with the diagnostics so for more than a week LIFX support and I never talked, even though I had never approved closing the ticket(s). Since then i got the lights stable again, but LIFX says I should reset my router and drop my dhcp lease time...I declined but so far have had no problems since the original hw reset fiascos.

So far so good, as I have only had it for a few days. Setup was quick & simple. Very responsive from iPhone and colors change quickly. What I like the most is the color saturation compared to other bulbs. App could use some updates to make more user friendly, but third-party ones exist. So great deal at $49, but if price could be lower, would add more to home.

With in 15 minutes I had the wi-fi bulbs installed, as well as the app on my android phone. I purchased 2 bulbs for our living room area and they are now on timers with morning on, daytime, TV watching and late night slow fade off. We sett rather warm at night, hi glow in the day, and a really bright not so warm setting for when we clean.

This is my first led light bulb so don't have much to compare to. The good: · No hub required · Connected relatively easily · Any wifi device can install the app and control the bulb. My wife and I both can control the bulb from our phones. The second device found the bulb almost instantly. Though it did require registration but that doesn't bother me. · Can control the bulb from remote locations · Some of the built in effects are neat (but the app has to remain open to use them) · Lots of integration options! (Nest, IF, and more) · Bulb returns to the last setting when turning back on. · A recent app update now allows you to copy and paste colors (great if you have multiple bulbs and want to configure them all the same) The bad: · Like others have mentioned install went smooth but updating didn't work the first try. · App Configuration is split up as colors and whites, and while changing either is easy, combining the two I haven't been able to easily do. · App has to be open to use bulb effects (candle flicker, strobe, haunted house, and more. Most of the bad things I have experienced can be fixed in software so I'm hopeful. That said I would definitely consider getting more.

I love this led WFI light. Easy to use app lets me program the light, turn it on or off from any location. I have it set to turn lights on just before my alarm goes off in the morning and before I get home from work. The colors are fun. I will be buying more lifx lights for my home.

I bought two Color-1000 bulbs just to get my feet wet with smart lighting. The bulbs themselves seem extremely well built and designed. Dimming appears flawless down to 1% with no flickering or buzzing. Colors look accurate and bright (Tip: 50% dimming gives you the brightest, most vibrant colors) I use Android devices to control them, which generally work perfectly. I knocked a star off because Google voice control is a little glitchy (might be Google's fault) and setting up the bulbs can be a bit intimidating. However, Lifx support has been quick and helpful with my questions. This is new technology and it will take some time to get the software right. The bulbs themselves, however, work beautifully and seem to be very high quality.

I originally bought one of these to try out in my apartment, it was so easy to setup and install that I went out and have now bought 6 of these to cover my entire apartment. I specifically went with this product instead of the Hue system for the fact that these bulbs do not need an expensive intermediate hub device to be controlled as well as all the reviews I have already scoured through pointed to the Hue bulbs not producing a bright enough light as well as displaying certain colors. An added bonus Amazon has added LIFX control to the Amazon Echo (Alexa) and with that I can control any of my lights from anywhere in my apartment as well as the initial freedom of being able to control my lights from anywhere via my cellphone. For power users there are limitless possibilities via integration with IFTTT, Android etc.

I thought this would be a okay light for the price but I was wrong it was a great light. The brightness is better then others and the options to change the colors are easy but they could add more features as I have other brands and I like some of there app features but I not all so I guess I can live with it until its improved over time. The colors are great when using them for my photgraphy with differnt kelvins so I can get that perfect color of white. I also sleep great with the blue light on a low power settings.
