This was a upgrade from a old one I had for years. It was easy to set up only a few minutes with good instructions and app. It worked great just wasn’t strong enough to run all my devices. I returned it and been checking out stronger routers. Best Buy was great with having a lot of options and the return process.

Half the speed and range than the router I have back to my cable provider. App does not allow for high customization. Bought a TP-Link AX21 and had 4X the speed and range than the Linksys.

    Good router, horrible setup process

this is a good, fast router, but the first time setup process is the worst i've ever had to deal with ever. it demands that you use the slow and nonfunctional app to setup the router, and demands 2 minutes to "de-sync" the modem from the ISP (really it takes 30 seconds), 3 minutes to let the modem reset and "re-sync" (again, this is like 30 seconds max normally), and then requires all the info on the bottom of the router, so you end up ripping it off the wall multiple times. if you try to do the setup via web-browser on your computer it refuses and blocks you from accessing it, the internet, and your wired network. once its setup, its a good router, but the setup process will drive the average person running away from the router and towards an way easier one.

a gig isnt a gig if you can't get a gig

Worked pretty good(300 mbs down) for about six months. Upgrade to gig from Comcast and all hell broke loose. Upgraded Router to Arris sb8200(Motorola manufactured). Started getting about 50mbs down. The admin UI doesn't have much functionality like Asus routers and you can only get a clunky app for cell phone rather than a desktop admin application. -Called Best buy, won't be calling them back -Called Comcast x8, had field tech come out to home. Got close to gig on the modem. Only about 50mbs on wireless before it completely stopped working. Tried the 30/30/30 method to no avail. -Called Arris, not very helpful, but then again thier product seemed to be working as expected -Called Linksys (they are replacing under warranty with free return RMA, Delivery shipping posted via email). Thank you! Overall, recent experience was terrible. Paying for gig internet service with +gig capable equipment but cannot get gig throughput to devices. When you order gig, it really isn't gig but somewhere close is what I was told by all 3 groups, repeatedly. Will retest gig throughput after replacement router arrives hopefully by the end of the month. Meanwhile, my business suffers from lack of suitable internet comminications after dumping some serious coin to get the gig service rolling. As of 03-18-2020 it ain't happening Awesome, thanks so much. Perhaps I'll get the Asus gig router that is comparable in price range.

    A promising failure

Worked until yesterday, and did a better job at managing 20+ connected devices than the nighthawk it replaced, which needed to be rebooted daily. Now it is unable to connect to the cable modem, which I validated is working by connecting to directly. Like many routers now, it pushes using a smartphone app over a browser for admin. It does eventually, begrudgingly present a browser admin that does everything the app does. This is an improvement from netgear's latest generation. It does not provide any usage meters at router or connected device level. This is another disappointment. It showed promise, but ultimately fell short.

This thing is absolute garbage. Here's the facts: - Doesn't support USB port out of the box. - Needs a firmware update that can't be done automatically (takes about 3 hours on support to get someone to give you the link) - It's a quad core and overheats all the time - Crashes and turns off the internet every twenty minutes for a minute or so. - The app randomly let's you log in or not. - The web interface, again, two hours on support to get someone to tell you how to connect to it, no it's not in a manual - Doesn't come with a manual

      Hello, Nemam11,

The Linksys MR8300 supports USB 3.0 port for external hard drive. You can also try to manually update its firmware version, and it should come with a manual if the unit is purchased as new. You may try power cycling the Linksys MR8300 or try running the channel finder for further isolation. Allow us to have you assisted further by our Esscalation Engineers by sharing with us over email your case number or phone number and assist you with the link of this review, for our reference.

I don’t know if I’m the only one that’s having the issue, but several times a day it drops the internet connection, not the wireless, but the WAN. It reconnects without any interaction, usually within a minute. It’s just aggregating when your in the middle of something or streaming. This was not a problem with my previous router, so it can’t be blamed on anything other than this router. Hopefully it’s a known issue & they’ll put out a firmware update to fix it. If that happens, I’d give 5 stars.

This model isn't very intuitive. It often loses signal, resulting in a red light, though my modem still has internet. It should attempt to reconnect automatically, but I find myself disconnecting the power and reconnecting it a few times a month to get the internet signal going again. I haven't utilized all of the capabilities it offers, but I'd like it to be able to handle the basics at least.

      Hi, Lau4,

The Linksys MR8300 Mesh Router upgrades your home WiFi and delivers a dedicated signal to each connected device using MU-MIMO technology. But, you can try to check your ISP's modem to see if the connection is stable and make sure that the firmware is up to date. Better off getting a classic setup router from Amazon than Linksys gimmick. Why do I need an online account, it's just unnecessary. Opting out gives issues when setting up. Moreover, it drops signals at times and if you have devices using 2.4 you can only set it to automatic, which apparently picks 2.4 for devices that can communicate in 5. Going back to my old router.

Don’t know if it’s because the router is upstairs and my tv is downstairs, because I can detect no difference in the in the quality of the signal, even with an extender, as there are still pauses during tv programming.
