What I like most about this product is the price! Plain and simple! It does the things a lot of more expensive smart thermostats do, but for much less $$$. Installation was just as easy and straightforward as the other smart thermostat brands. Once installed, setup was intuitive as well, a bit for cumbersome than other brands due to the lack of the touchscreen and it having physical buttons, but still easy. The app was simple and I love the features, bottom line is it works and I’d recommend it to anyone.

    A Good Value Smart Thermostat

Simple and straightforward. No fancy touch screen, but it is an economical smart thermostat that does everything I need it to. I had a standard “dumb” thermostat and was wasting a lot of energy and money being limited to turning it ON or OFF manually. Now with the LUX; I downloaded the app and synced the options to our schedules and personal preferences so it’s optimized to activate when we need it and automatically turn it off when we don’t. There have been many times in the past when I forgot to turn off the AC before leaving the house. Now I can turn it off-on or adjust it from my phone anywhere I am via the app. Now I have it set to my personal schedule: Off during the day while I am away, begin cooling before bedtime, and automatically turn off during the overnight to save energy. It’s only been a few days, but I am confident that the thermostat with pay for itself after a few electric bills. The overall install was relatively easy with the directions in the manual. Just make sure to switch the power off at your electrical panel before installing. The app is clear to navigate and easy to set up. I have downloaded it across all of our devices. Better yet it works with our Alexa system, so it can be controlled by voice. FEATURES: - IOS & Android supported app to set up, control and personalize through your mobile devices. - Works with most heating and cooling system types (forced air, gas, oil, electric furnaces) - Connects via wi-fi - Personalize it to your schedule and preferences. PROS: - Affordable price - Solid value option. It does the job - Integrated well into my smart home system. CONS: - No fancy touch screen. It is not glowing and shiny like some of the higher end smart thermostats.

The Lux CS1 was surprisingly simple to install. It was especially impressive is how it goes through an analysis phase to figure out what hardware is connected. I strongly recommend looking at your in-home thermostat wiring before committing to the project. My system seemed pretty straightforward, but some of the wiring was non-standard, and took some creativity to get working. The physical installation was simple. It’s always nice when device manufacturers include pieces like wallboard anchors and appropriate screws. I can never find mine when I need them. The app connects nicely and was easy to set up and use. I’ve encountered numerous complaints about the app’s interface, but they seemed pretty forgiving, especially since this is probably not something a user will have to spend a lot of time using. I mean, how often do you need to re-program your thermostat?

The Lux Smart Thermostat works well but lacks style and basic setup for everyday users. It has potential but I could not keep it compared to my older HW setup. I ended up moving the Lux into my enclosed trailer to control the heat and air. I loved the simple setup once mounted and mounting it was stupid easy, hats off to LUX for making the install so painless. The on screen setup is very easy in my opinion but for someone that is not a techie, they may struggle and the Android app is horrible. I have yet to get the app to work at all, it will not connect 99% of the time and the one time it did, the software update failed after 20 seconds. The look is basic and the menus are decent and easy for me but my wife had problems using it. The clicky buttons feel blah as well, they are not smooth, on screen would be worth a $50 difference if the app worked too, Also, a better screen with options for background pictures would be great, my other setup looks like my wall and blends in. The feel of the unit as a whole is cheap, the connections were my favorite part as well as the mounting but over all, it just doesnt do it for me. For a basic thermostat, it works but I cannot recommend it as a first choice.

Was excited for this new wifi thermostat. It is elegant looking on my wall. It replaced an on old analog thermometer. I had it professionally installed because I was just not sure I could handle it. After watching them I probably could have done it. They had it installed in less than one hour. The app is a bit clunky. It took several attempts to get my phone and the thermostat connected together but they finally connected. The app helps you to be able to program or adjust the thermostat to your needs. Overall it is a great purchase.

    Good bang for your buck

I purchased this thermostat as a cheaper alternative to other wifi thermostats. It operates my heat pump unit effectively. It has a very simplified interface, but you only need the Lux app to control it so I hardly ever feel the need to touch the thermostat directly. So far its functioned well and can be controlled from my iphone whether I'm at home or away, and it automatically senses if I'm away to help save money. I found pairing the device to the app to be simple, the scheduling is pretty straightforward, and the dashboard is easy to use. Overall I'd say it's a good bang-for-the-buck option if you don't want to spend 100s of dollars on a fancy screen that you are hardly going to touch anyway since they all come with an app.

    NICE, SIMPLE WIFI THERMOSTAT

I was excited to get the LUX Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat, even though I didn't really "need" another thermostat. I got it to replace a much more sophisticated thermostat that controls our 3rd HVAC system for the 2nd floor in my house. I NEVER go upstairs since it is just guest bedrooms and our master is downstairs where we live full-time. The upstairs is only used when guests stay over - maybe 20-30 days per YEAR. When guests are here, it would be nice to control the 3rd HVAC from downstairs so our guests don't have to figure it out. Plus during our hot Phoenix Summers, sometimes it would be nice to cool the upstairs so our downstairs units don't have to work so hard. I installed the LUX upstairs. It was very easy to do, but always take a picture of your existing wiring & where each wire it plugged in to before starting. Luckily, my existing install and the LUX were pretty compatible, so wiring the LUX was easy. I don't use the "scheduling" aspect of the LUX, because it's rare that we turn on the 2nd floor thermostat. So being able to just control the on/off and temp from downstairs was important, and the LUX did a good job at these simple tasks. The LUX is pretty "basic" with only 3 buttons, whereas my existing was very sophisticated with multiple buttons and menus, etc. etc. The Android app for the LUX was also simple to use. It connected with my Wi-Fi pretty easily, but had a tendency to "drop" every now and then, but overall not too bad. Again, since I will only use this thermostat occasionally to control my 3rd HVAC, it was ok as is. I don't know if I'd feel the same if the LUX was on one of my 2 primary HVACs downstairs. The price is also attractive. About $100 but on sale for around $60. Non-connected / mechanical thermostats cost that much! So for a little technology, its an attractive price. Well worth the LUX unit.

Installed this LUX thermostat yesterday. So far so good! Installation was pretty simple for me. But, this will probably depend more on the heating & cooling system you have. We just have gas heat with no AC. So for me it was about as easy as it gets. If you have both heat & AC or an older boiler type system it will probably be a little tricky. However, the instructions do guide you thru most various types of installation. The unit itself is pretty plain looking at that is just fine with me. I really don't need it to stand out. As for functions, it has all of your standard controls and of course can be programed. Wi-Fi integration is of course the big selling point of this type of thermostat. I didn't have any issues connecting to the W-Fi and so far the app is working great. The ability to control the thermostat from wherever is one of the better home Wi-Fi enabled advancements to come along. But I am still in the honeymoon stage of constantly checking to make sure the changes I make are actually working :-) I'm sure that will change. If you don't think you can install it by your self (trust me, you probably can) then any electrician or HVAC specialist can probably do it in a matter of minutes. Other Wi-Fi enabled thermostats sell for much more but honestly, I can't see what you would gain from them other than an empty wallet.

It is not as a esthetically pleasing as other brands, but it does the job well. Connecting to the LUX app is easy if you follow the step, but if you get stuck the customer service support is excellent. The app just as the thermostat is not that impressive but it works well at home or away from home. Connection to Wi-Fi was simple and smooth. I only connects to 2. 4 Ghz signals like most smart home electronics.

    Did Not Work for Me

First, it says if you have any questions or issues, contact LUX support via phone or chat. Good luck with that as I was unsuccessful with either method after many, many attempts. So I did the best that I could wiring it up myself. The base has a convenient level built into it to ease mounting. Although the wiring instructions are clear and plentiful, they do not cover all situations - mine included. Once wiring was complete, the next step is to get the Lux app installed on your phone and get the head unit connected to the base. From there, you go through a process to get the unit to connect to your phone and from there to the internet. This process took me several attempts until I realized that, since the head unit only uses a 2.4 ghz wifi band, that required the phone to also connect to a 2.4 ghz wifi band. Once I did that, the phone and unit connected and the unit performed a firmware update from the internet. Afterwards, I was able to use the app to manage the Lux thermostat via WiFi. The app UI is ok, I guess, but it took me a while to figure it out. Afterwards things proceeded fairly well. Sadly, no matter what I did, I could not get the unit to cool - it turned on heat every time. I rechecked the wiring but without any Lux support available, I had no choice but to remove the unit and restore the previous unit.

We got this for our home but since our home was built in 1995 it doesn't seem like we have the wire set up to make this thermostat work. Quality of the thermostat feels great and the options seem great too, but we were unsuccessful in installing it. Basically, I would have to knock down drywall to rewire our house, and I am not going to go through the trouble to do that. Wish it would have worked for us...
