This is the very same power supply as the one that came with my laptop, which is what I wanted. I always like to have one for travel so that even if it gets left behind, I still have one. Fro that reason, it works just fine and does what it is supposed to. The only downside is that it is ridiculously expensive. Since it is proprietary, they can charge what they like for this puppy. The day a generic version comes out, you'll see this price drop like a stone.

PRO: -fits Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4, Surface Book. -of the Microsoft chargers, this has the highest output and will charge your surface fastest. -handy USB port for charging other devices, without using a USB port from your Surface. -AC power cable is about 3 feet long, and detachable. It connects using a standard C7 cable. (IEC 60320 C7) -Global compatibility: 100-240V 50/60Hz, meaning you can buy an appropriate C7 cable to fit the wall sockets in almost any country. -Surface connector cable is about 3 feet long, and permanently connected to the main transformer housing. -power indicator on the Surface connector itself, visible from either side. -Magnetic retention. CON (none really): -reports of limited durability in the Surface-end of the cable, especially if twisted or wound poorly. Be careful with your cables. -It's just a power adapter for a tablet or laptop, it isn't fancy in any way.

I like how the charger is magnet-based, and it works well with surface products as it was specifically designed for them. However, I do think it would benefit from being longer as well as a bit more sturdy - I find that the portion going from the adapter to the charging port is quite fragile and this part breaks the most easily (especially at the portions where it bends away from insertion points both into the laptop and the adapter). Given how expensive these things are, it’s really annoying having to buy one of these every year because the same part keeps breaking!

There are many features that I enjoy about the surface charger, My favorite, though, is that there is a USB port in the power block. There are certain negatives, though. It is quite flimsy, and does not hold up if you use it religiously. I have had to replace this charger THREE TIMES in the short 6 months that I've had my surface. I wish there were a heavier duty option.

We had to replace the charger for my daughter’s computer and this was the only one that would work. My only complaint is that it is so much more expensive than the other chargers for other devices.

My original power cable went out after a year, just like other reviews stated. Reason for 4 stars is $80 for a replacement is extremely high, especially when you know microsoft is making them for a couple bucks.

Some confusion at the Best Buy I bought from as they didn't think my version of the surface would take the plug. It worked just fine-saved me a lot of Fed ex postage sending old unit left at job site to me. of course the cost was stiff but no alternative.

It is an expensive power adapter but it works. I have had issues with several 3rd party adapters that seem to break down quickly and stop working. This is a genuine microsoft surface adapter and will work for what you need it to.

You wouldn't expect the Surface Pro charging cords to fail so soon, but... Really glad that Best Buy stocks them. it does exactly what it is supposed to, but how can you get excited about a charger and give it all 5 stars?

Had to replace Microsoft power adapter after the cord shorted on original one. This power adapter is and original equipment replacement and works well.

These are too expensive for what they are. Better to just buy the ‘docking station’ version of this as it has more options.

Works great, just like the original that was lost, but found as soon as I discarded the box for this one. The length remains too short, but as I said, same as the original.

This item simply lets me and my Surface work. Without it, we would not be able to create our graphics, documents, or scrambled eggs. Thanks Micro$oft.

This power supply was purchased for the replacement of my original surface pro 3. It works as it should and nothing special to report.

My charger got sucked into the vacuum so I needed a new one. This one is exactly like the original. I am very happy with this purchase.

This charger works with all Surface platforms including the new Surface Books. It really comes in handy when you are out and about.

This item is a great replacement for the original charger. It is a little more expensive than the knock offs, but worth the money.

The charger charged as chargers usually charge. I wish I wasn’t charged so much for the charger but you can say I’m guilty as charged.

I needed another power supply for travel. This is the same as the factory supplied PS and works as expected.

This is a replacement for the original, which for some reason stopped working. My only complaint is it is really expensive.
