Would easily recommend the Surface RT over an Ipad

I love this product, It is simple to use all my settings follow me around from Machine to Machine to tablet. The Surface RT comes with Office 365 and starts out at a much lower price than the Ipad. I have owned three different ipads and I simply use this more than any ipad I have ever owned. Each day I use the surface I find more and more things that I can do that I simply cannot do with my ipad. The ipad is a great device as well but was designed more for consumer entertainment than for all around functionality. Please be aware of what you are buying as well. With the Surface RT you are restricted to installing apps available in the Microsoft Store and cannot (unless you are very creative) install apps from others locations. the Surface Pro you can pretty much do anything you want to with as it is a full fledged pc in tablet form.

This is an excellent tablet for one who wants a very portable, quiet tool for taking notes and bringing digital documents to meetings. Not enough memory and speed to function as one's real regular computer, but a great accessory for ad hoc use.

like the Surface, don't like touch cover

I really like the actual Microsoft surface as a light weight, portable computer. I like all the apps and features and Windows 8. I don't like how I am unable to download Firefox at this time. I primarily bought this computer to try to do a parttime internet business, that needs done on Firefox browser, and therefore I can't do the business till the Firefox app is ready. I don't like the "Touch Cover". It's started showing wear right away. It's too easy to accidentally hit a wrong "button" in the middle of typing something, and therefore messing things up. I am planning on purchasing the "Type Cover", and am hoping that I will be more satisfied with that. I wish I had known that there were the 2 different keyboards. If I had known that, I wouldn't have boughten the bundle that had the Surface and the Touch cover. Part of that is my fault because I didn't know. Part of it I blame on the sales staff at my local Best Buy store, because he didn't know that much about the Surface, and didn't tell me the options I had of buying the Surface separate, and then buying the Type cover, for $30 more than the bundle. Now, I am having to spend $129 more for the keyboard that I hopefully will like better. All in all I like it, but I wonder if I would've been just as happy with a Google Chrome, which weighs a little more, but will cost a lot less. But, I'll never know now. One reason I bought the Surface over the Google Chrome is that Office Home and Student was already installed - big PLUS. The sound quality on the Netflix app is VERY POOR!!!! I am cancelling my streaming. However, the sound quality is adequate on the IHeartRadio app.

This is a very nice tablet, it is very easy to use and has pretty much all the software and features that you need. It is light weight and easy to handle. The keyboard is very functional, it is so easy to attach and detach so that you can either use or not. It is a great computer and I love it. I have to thank my wife because she is the one who suggested it for me.

Bought this as gift for my wife. She had seen my tablet and thought she would like one. Well with the connectivity and complete seat of Microsoft Office I soon realized that she would be able to help out with the business even when she is on the go. With the added benefits of contact management, cloud computing and email we will be able to be more responsive to our customers without being tied to a desk.

It's ok. I just need to get used to Windows 8. Did not find the app store that easy to navigate. Was disappointed that it did not support google hangouts, even after downloading the app.

I bought this because everyone recommended it. The size is good & the picture is great. I'm just not sold on the Windows 8, yet. I just find it difficult to find certain things that I'm used to finding. Like listening to my music & watching movies. You just can't put in an sd card like anyone other tablet or computer. I have to do some kind of sync with the xbox stuff. Needless to say waiting for my sister to tell me how. Overall it is ok.

Seems to work pretty good but there are random glitches where the device just pauses. Not all the apps work when they are suppose to and the have to be reloaded. Also because the app market is smaller there aren't a lot of apps to choose from. I am hoping this will change as more people buy Microsoft products. The key board is also interesting. It is soft touch so you don't feel the buttons being pushes. Not meant for speed typing but still nice.

When I got this tablet for my wife, I wasn't sure if it was the right one for us. After setting it up(yeah - had to get tech support online - they were right on target with help!), starting using it and got used to gesture computing. Downloaded apps, set up email (even linked in a POP 3 account), and got things set the way we wanted them. My wife uses it more every day than she does her desktop PC. We have had no trouble with it so far. Battery life is better than I expected. The device connected to our wireless 'n' network and has outstanding up and down load data rates. No complaints as yet. I'll probably purchase a Surface Pro when they are available.

I chose to purchase this tablet because I could plug my external drive into the USB port and read articles/papers for graduate school...this works great! The only downside I have seen is that there are fewer apps to choose from than the Apple iPad.

I bought this because I use a lot of Excel spreadsheets and Power Point presentations for my work. Although it came with no instruction manual, it was relatively easy to use. Screen quality and size is great and the battery life has been fantastic. My tablet was the only one not out of juice when the plane landed on our last business trip. I also purchased the touch keyboard and wish I would have purchased the Type keyboard instead. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

More of a touch screen computer that converts to a tablet feel. Not as snappy as a tablet, but way faster than a netbook. I was looking for a portable pc replacement and not a computer companion. This is what you want if that is the case. A full keyboard was important to me as well. Can not share my office documents as easily as I would like as there is no sharing from desktop. Need to use it as a computer...ie go into email and attach file. Feature is built in and not functional which is frustrating, but I imagine this will change.

nice laptop good if you want to play games or read the news. But if you want to download a product from the internet then your out of luck! Unless its on the Microsoft store app. So other than trying to be like apple which is dumb because if you wanted apple get it. Not an apple like product. With not as many apps. BE MICROSOFT with app. Along with what makes Microsoft great. The ability to work the web any way i want without apps if i want.. The part that makes Microsoft great is it will work how you want or need it to not in a small box like apple!! To bad this product is more like apple without the app. Store and less like Microsoft that it should be..

The surface has everything that I was looking for in a portable PC. I wanted a device that I could easily take with me to write on the go and that I could use in the kitchen without fear of crumbs or liquid getting in the keypad. The size makes it easy to transport. The keyboard makes writing on the go very easy. The built-in stand makes it easy to use in the kitchen. The food and drink app includes a hands-free option for manipulating recipe pages without touching the screen. When skyping we have to have the volume all the way up to hear conversation. I wouldn't say that it is lightning fast, but overall, it meets my needs.

A great product with almost the full functionality of a laptop but in a pad sized computer. Yes, it is slightly larger and heavier than other pads but other pads don't have the same functionality for business professionals. Caveat - RT is much lighter and thinner than the Pro. Wish it had 4G but it does have wireless so anywhere with free wifi gets you e-mail and internet. It is also compatible with any other Microsoft PC and you can synch your documents or files (up to the 64GB limit - and as a practical matter, a normal business professional shouldn't need more than 64GB unless you are a photographer, designer or run heavy programs).

I love this tablet the learning curve Is low the screen is bright and colorful, the battery last long and takes very little time to charge to full power. I have been enjoying the growth of the app store as well as the ability to have a easy to remove keyboard that makes typing anything in a word document very manageable basically the only real problem that it has was that nothing can be installed outside of the app store which isnt really a bad thing since It a tablet not a laptop.

Light weight, good touch response, adequate battery life. Touch cover is much easier to use than I had anticipated. I loved not having to purchase and pay additional for ms office. No issues with flash player. Would like a higher resolution screen. However, web browsing was noticeably slower than with my wife's iPad. Camera is useless.

It hasnt' been that long, but so far, I am LOVING my Surface. Using with my AT&T Beam USB LTE Modem and get good speed wherever I go. Skydrive and Outlook.com integration across this to my Android phone and Desktop. Funny how Apple (a company I adore BTW) gets very vocal about Iphone/IOS/OS X integration, but Microsoft has it going on but is NOT doing a good job of selling it. Love that USB port, MicroSD card, and honestly the "lack of apps" in Windows RT isn't a big deal to me. I need to surf the web, work on Docs, write, email, etc. One caveat I like is that unless non-Amazon Android tablets, I can use my Prime membership to watch videos through the browser on my Surface.
