Pros and Cons vs. The Original Xbox One,

Today is a day I have waited a long time for, the day my Xbox One is no longer the size of a VCR from 1989. Compared with the original Xbox One, we have a few key differences. Most good, but not all. Pros vs. Original Xbox One: [+] 40% smaller! And yes, the difference is very noticeable [+] 4K output. Not as big of a deal to most people as 4K adoption is not huge yet, and it's only really for video/Blu-ray (games are upscaled) [+] The side USB port has been moved from the left side to the front, which is great for space saving (if another device is to the left) and less damaging if someone trips over the USB cable. [+] No gloss finish. They did get rid of the gloss in a minor pre-S refresh, but I'm happy to see it is completely gone. As always, glossy finishes look great on day one but do NOT age well (easily scuffed and scratched). [+] Built-in power supply. To me, this is HUGE (reverse pun intended). The old power supply added an unreasonable amount of heft to the already oversized console. It is especially great if you like to pack and travel with your Xbox since that's one less brick to carry around, and makes it much easier and cheaper to have spare 'travel' power cables so you don't have to remove your main cables when traveling. [+] Hardware upgrade. In addition to the 4K hardware upgrade (HDMI 1.4 vs HDMI 2.0), there is more processing power available for HDR, though to be honest I'm not sure how much I care about that. The real hardware upgrade won't be until Project Scorpio in 2017. [*] Higher capacity. You can now choose from models ranging from 500GB to 2TB! I definitely recommend no less than 1TB considering how quickly these games eat up hard drive space. I'm not a fan of cluttering up my area with external USB hard drives, so the extra internal space of the 2TB version was a huge selling point to upgrade. Cons vs. Original Xbox One: [-] As of launch, only available in white. Don't get me wrong, the white looks beautiful, but you can't go wrong with additional color choices. In my case, white matching NOTHING else in my home theater setup, so I would have preferred to stick with black. I'm sure that will come soon though. [-] No elite version (yet), which means no hybrid SSD available for faster load times. Elite controller still works great though. [-] Does not offer any option of a bundled Kinect, though it has been clear for awhile that Kinect support has been dwindling. [-] Does not include a headset, not even a cheapy earbud-style one. [-] Kinect users *raises own hand* effectively lost a USB port. They removed the Kinect-specific port, so now you'll have to use up one of the two rear USB ports to get your Kinect on. This also raises the issue of the console not including a Kinect-to-USB adapter, which just adds extra hassle to get your Kinect Kinected again. PSA regarding Kinectability mentioned above: For a limited time, you can get a free Kinect-to-USB adapter by contacting Xbox Support and providing your serial numbers. *Is it worth upgrading my Xbox One?* There is not a one-size-fits all answer to this. For me, it was a yes, as I was replacing a secondary Xbox One and I wanted the 2TB and smaller footprint. My Elite is still my main console, which I'm not ready to replace with the S due to the hybrid SSD and color. For most people, I would bet the answer is no. If money is a concern, it's probably no. If you don't 4K game or need the extra terabyte, it's probably no. If you're just a tech geek like me and always need the latest stuffs and thingies, then go for it! Ultimately, I'm still much more eagerly awaiting the full Scorpio hardware update, but the Xbox One S was a long overdue refresh. If nothing else, it at least leaves the Xbox One no longer as a beastly, oversized, whalephant, VCR, gargantuan, monolithic mass of plastic as its prior version was.

I love the new design. The console is fast and responsive. The controller is a lot like the xbox 360 and that is great. It is great for streaming video to online gaming with friends.

It took some time to try and find out which console I wanted to buy. It was between the ps3 slim and xbox one s. The reason why I chose the xbox was because of the controller and the people that I knew that had it. That's what is comes down to is the other people you have to play with online. The only downside to the xbox is the downloads. You have to download every game you play. It took almost 2 days just to download GTA V and you still have to put the disk in to play. Also your going to have to buy a lot of double A batteries because the controllers eat through them like crazy. Other then that the xbox was a good choice!

Picked this up on special with a game (Battlefield), extra controller, and 3 months of Xbox live for 249.99. What else more could I ask for so I picked up 2. One for each major TV and both being 4k it just made sense. Decent console. Also make sure you buy a battery pack for the controller. No need to get the super expensive one just get the best buy Brand for 8 bucks. Uses Micro USB to charge and I'm sure 90% of people have one of those floating around the house. I'm a PS4 person but I do like the change of pace in gameplay and FORZA :). Had to buy that as well Lots of fun with that game.

My favorite gaming system of all time

This is easily my favorite gaming system of all time, and I've been gaming since the Atari 2600. As a plus for this version it supports HDR and upscaled 4k (but not true 4k, and there's a HUGE difference between the two) as well as 4k/hdr movies. Huge selection of games, great online, the best controllers on the market, and great performance. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is that at this point you'd do yourself a huge favor and just upgrade to the XBox 1X model, which supports true 4k.

    One S > One

The One S is a great console! I was looking for a blue ray play with 4K compatibility for my 4K TV. However, I am also into playing video games and having a great time. For the price of a 4K Blu Ray player, I was able to get the One S which has so much more capabilities. The processing is fast and never lagging. The only con I would have is that games take up so much memory, with four or five games installed on the console, I have used up around 50% of it's 500GB memory. So if you're an avid gamer, you might look at the 1TB storage and larger.

The Xbox one is already my favorite of the big three, and the S model improves it in a few noticeable ways. Firstly, it supports 4k and HDR playback which is great because I just got an oled TV. And it's way smaller and lighter than the original with no battery brick so it's easy to maneuver/travel with. If you have an original Xbox one, you can but don't have to upgrade. If not, definitely make the S your first option.

So this is a bundle, not only do you get a newly designed Xbox one s. Which is smaller than the old one, has the ability to play bluray 4K disks, including 3D movies. You can also stream movies, shows and videos in 4K. And last but not least, HDR gaming. HDR is the next big thing out, if you haven't heard. So on top of getting the console, you get a digital download of battlefield 1. One of the best games of the year. You also get 14 day trial of Xbox live and you also get a full month of EA access. So happy I got it.

After a good bit of research, and thanks to xbox having a compatible interface with my PCP, I decided on Xbox One over the PS4. The interface is easy to use, the download speed is pretty quick, there is plenty of file storage for the average gamer, and it looks good and runs well. The xbox one controller hooks up with my laptop to play games like forza on the go, and even offers console streaming to my laptop. Overall a great purchase and my only complaints after 2 months are about 3rd party apps.

Much better deal than the PS4 pro. Specs may seem to be significantly less than the PS4, but picture quality is practically the same and the user interface is better in my opinion. Factor in the ability to watch live tv, and play at the same time along with the ability to stream 4k and play 4k Blu-Rays for under $300 you won't be disappointed... If you play tons of games, save movies etc, it probably is worth considering spending the extra $50 for double the hard drive space.

I have been using my Day One edition Xbox One since it came out, figured it couldn't hurt to get the S. It's a nice upgrade, coming in with a smaller footprint, it's fast, and significantly quieter. I was on the fence and thought I would wait for Scorpio, but didn't. If you have an Xbox One, it's not a needed upgrade, hold off for the Scorpio. If you are new to Xbox and want to test the waters prior to the Scorpio, the Xbox One S is worth every penny. Happy Gaming!

Got this for my 16-yr old for Xmas to replace his original xbox one. Fantastic price ($250 + tax) with Battlefield 1 included. Best system on the market right now factoring in the built-in 4K player. And I'm actually more of a Playstation guy myself but I'm currently mad at Sony because the PS4 Pro costs too much and doesn't include a 4K player. Sony, if you're listening, I will not upgrade my PS4 until it plays 4K discs!

This system is amazing. I have been using PlayStation 3 for years and finally switched to Xbox. The graphics are superb. The only thing I would change is getting the 1 Terabyte because the game files are huge and take up a lot of space on the console. My favorite feature is using the voice commands with the connect. Call me lazy, but I love saying Xbox on or off and not having to use a remote.

I got rid of my PS4 to get an Xbox One S, and I'm very happy I did. The startup time is a lot faster then the PS4. The controllers are a lot better, (my opinion, I've always liked Xbox controllers better). Microsofts online is amazing. Plus the best feature is it plays 4K movies. The dashboard is better this time around. All I need now is the Kinect for it. All in all it's a great system.

Overall the Xbox one S offers a lot for the money. If you can get the bundle I did for the price I would say it's worth it. Battlefield 1 bundle, extra wireless controller, and 3 mos of Gold live for $249 is great. But retail it's not worth it. I have the PS4 pro and it just can't compete. I really don't use the 4k bluray player so that isn't really a plus. It's just there. If you're an Xbox fan then it's great. If you're used to PlayStation then you will find issues with it. For example, I have Battlefront on PS4. And really enjoyed it. Looks great. Got it on sale on Xbox and it looks terrible. I thought I was playing Battlefront on the GameCube. Apparently the Xbox version of the game is rendered in 720 and the PS4 is 900p. But you'll find those kind of comparisons often that many games struggle to meet the frame rate or resolution compared to PS4 or especially the PS4 pro. So with all that said, if you love Xbox then you'll love this if the price is right. If you love PlayStation but are debating getting this console to play a few exclusives you might be disappointed. I pretty much let my kids just use this and play and I use my PS4 pro. If you're going to invest in a console and not sure which one to get then hands down the PS4 pro is the better console. For many years. Even when Scorpio comes out it will be cheaper and comparable to Microsoft new hardware. Just my take on it tho.

Where to start lol the overall design of this console is beautiful, the massive power brick is gone and they brought back the white color scheme, but when it comes down to it if you have a 4k HDR tv to combine with this WOW it is stunning picture qualtiy makes games that much more fun to play video games, also it has a UHD-bluray player thats cheaper than sony or samsung
