It allowed me to stop paying rent for a modem. It worked seamlessly with my router and delivers the ISP's advertised speed, all in a small package.

10yr old Motorola surf board finally started acting up so it was time for a new one. Very easy to set up and great speeds. Does not have a built in router though.

Good Modem, but Unable to Use with Google Mesh

Motorola is a good brand, very respected, great quality, and easy to use for most internet services.
It does NOT have WiFi, so if you want WiFi you have to add it. I added a Google Mesh WiFi, which is very capable. The problem arose when I tried to use the Google Mesh with the Motorola AND Spectrum Internet. They will not work together.
When I ran the modem by itself, the Spectrum service was smoking fast. The Google WiFi is, by itself, smoking fast. Together, they are a disaster.
So I ended up going back to my older Netgear WiFi modem, disabling the Netgear WiFi, and using the Google Mesh. Everything works, but it was a little more trouble than it needed to be.
Still though, this is NO fault of the modem. By itself, there may be none faster.

I had to replace an older modem. I purchased this one since it was certified for use by Cox (my provider). Pulled it out the box, plugged it in, connected cable. A list of phone numbers is included to call your service provider to connect your modem - give them the serial number of the modem and they make the connection. They told me that if I wanted to upgrade my service in the future to Giga speed, that this modem would work.

Easy to set up, reliable. No dropped connections and fairly consistent speeds, considering heavy use of internet due to Covid-19

The Negative Reviews Were Right

I decided to give this a chance despite the multiple negative reviews, figuring the chance of me getting a "bad unit" was probably low. Nope. Took about 3 days and started experiencing what everyone else was complaining about- constant internet dropping and needing to regularly reset the modem. The went on for about 2-3 weeks before I gave it up and returned it. Giving Three Stars because the one system that was direct wired into it, the PS4, had noticeably increased speed compared to our old modem. Anything that wasn't direct wired in suffered from the bad wi-fi connection though.

I have a close friend that is an IT director and he swears by this modem. I had to replace and old one that was going out on me and giving me fits. My friend pointed me at this bad boy and man was he right. Absolutely solid performance! It will not disappoint.

After researching modem types that did not have a built in router (since I already had a mesh network) I had to go with the Motorola. This unit is the 32x8. The different in 2x4, 4x8, 4x16x 4x32, and 8x32 is like the difference in a black top 2 lane road, a 4 lane road, a 4 lane divided street, a small freeway, and a mega interstate. The higher the value, the greater the traffic that can run through!

he Xfiniity compatible Modem was super easy to set-up following the Quick Start guide included in the box. Word of advice for Comcast / Xfinity subscribers -- when stepping through the set-up Wizard, selecting the option to text an activation code is a joke -- the code is only good for 15 minutes but I didn't receive the text until 30 minutes had passed; just stick with your Xfinity account name for the activation and provisioning.

Goodbye Arris & Netgear! I have had no luck with arris in terms of reliability. Purchased a Netgear CM2000 docsis 3.1 cable modem to replace a second broken Arris and the Netgear was broke right out of the box. These were not stocked at my local Best Buy and I’m not sure why not they should. Motorola made the best cable modems when they made the surfboard modems before selling it to Arris. Now they are back in the cable modem game and I’m very happy with my purchase and confident that this modem will last a long time. So far it performs perfectly on Suddenlink’s 1gig service. Highly recommend!

Bought this to get rid of the Comcast rental fees and so glad I did. Went above and beyond what was needed for a basic modem so I would be future proof. Will handle faster speeds that are not yet available in my area and currently its is running around 50 mbs faster then what the cable company says I should be getting. A little pricey but being future proof it's well worth it. And being Comcast approved I plugged it in and it was automatically recognized.

This modem has been fast and reliable. I've had other modems in the past that would need resetting every once in a while, but this one I've never had to reset and it has been pushing out extremely fast speeds non-stop. I am very happy with this purchase.

We haven't had any connection problems since getting this modem. We're using it with Spectrum internet service, and we get fast high-speed internet even with two people working full time on VPNs and two teenagers gaming on Steam full time.
