2 week google nest hub gen 2 review
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to own the Google Home Mini 1st Gen for a few years until recently. Compared to those, I can confidently say that the audio from the Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen sounds significantly better. Since it's still the same google assistant, it didn't get any smarter or anything. I faced the same issues that I did previously, but at least the screen would provide some information rather than it annoyingly sending a link it found to my phone. Speaking of the screen, it's really nice despite it being small. It being small is advantageous since I like having my smart device sitting by the window next to my bed. I feel the 10" one wouldn't have fit as well. If you haven't touched the sceen in a while, it's laggy but once it gets going, it moves at a sufficient speed. I talk to it more than I touch the interface so it's not an issue I run into too often. I wish I could download apps onto the device, or remove some of them since I don't use Sling. It's a bit hard to use youtube on it as well. It's nice that it's easy to cast to it. I often cast twitch steams or audiobooks to it and it works out really well. It makes calls easily, and it can be helpful for routines or controlling your smart home. It's sleep sensing is surprisingly really good. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and if you use the sleep sensing, I recommend that you download google fit so that you can view your sleep data easier. The sleep sensing on the google nest was able to provide pretty much the same data as my galaxy watch 7 when it came to detecting sleep. It might not be that interesting, but I thought it was cool since the google nest uses motion sensing rather than making direct contact with my body while I sleep. You can also search websites on the nest hub, but I wouldn't recommend it since it would be slower than on your phone, and it doesn't really have much of a practical use, at least to me anyway. All in all, I really like this device. It's nice being able to control the dim of my light from my bed, but without having to pick up my phone. Sometimes I don't feel like speaking to start some routines, so the touch interface and gestures are appreciated. I thought google was getting rid of the sleep sensing, but somehow it still isn't gone yet. (Hopefully I haven't jinxed it) I'd happily recommend this device to anybody, even if they aren't crazy invested into a smart home. I just wouldn't say that it's worth it at full price. Definitely wait for a sale.

Absolutely love the google nest hub.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google nest hub has quickly become an essential part of my daily routine. It tracks my sleep, providing me with valuable insights into my rest patterns. The alarm function is loud and clear, ensuring I always start my day on time. But what's most impressive is the sound quality. The audio is crisp, clear, and surprisingly good for such a compact device. It's perfect for listening to music or catching up on podcasts. Its sleek design fits perfectly on my bedside table. I absolutely love it!

The best product I didn't know I needed!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my Nest Hub 7" Smart Display with Google Assistant (2nd Gen) so much that I bought a 2nd one for my home office. I even ordered one for my dad for Father's Day. I use the Sleeping app to keep track of how well I am sleeping at night, then review my stats in the morning. I enjoy viewing the changing pictures on the Nest Hub on my desk while I work and listening to soft music. I use it to control my smart light bulbs in all of the rooms in my house. I ask the Google Assistant about the events on my calendar, set reminders, and various questions all day long. Often she has better answers than Alexa. I am still learning all the wonderful things it can do.

Great product, too many Google issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The lack of camera makes duo calls with video option unnecessary. Google seems to be having lots of bugs and you may have a difficult time trying to register for the sleep sensor feature to be enabled. The media interaction leaves a lot to be desired as you can't see your playlists to choose from only the recommendations list (speaking for Spotify, I don't use any other music apps) Improved sound and mic means better interactive experience. I greatly enjoy the dim screen and nighttime schedule options. As with most of Google products, sometimes the foundation of Google itself is what let's down the items that depends on Google network improvement and software updates. Overall not a bad purchase but as compared to Amazon products, Google is a bit behind the curve.

Posted .Hi there, GoddessOatia. Thanks for posting a review about the Nest Hub (2nd gen). We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations.
You can try to turn Motion Sense on to enable Sleep Sensing feature. Your display uses Motion Sense’s low-power radar to detect movement and breathing. No distinguishable images of your body or face are generated or used for Sleep Sensing with Motion Sense. Please note that since Sleep Sensing monitors the spot you usually sleep, children, pets, and other family members sleeping in that spot will affect your data. Device placement, motion, and other devices nearby might lead to inaccurate readings. If someone nearby coughs or snores while Sleep Sensing is on, this feature might process and attribute those sounds to you.
Also, you can link your Spotify account as your default music service on the Nest display. This default service will be used first when possible. Visit this link to learn more: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7551876
We appreciate you pointing out the features you enjoy and some areas we can work on for users like you. Rest assured, this will reach our product team for future improvements. Entertainment, Security, Comfort all in one.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This actually has some great audio to the speakers along with treble and bass. I really enjoy being able to connect it to my Nest Doorbell and use it as a camera and audio to see whats going on. Connecting it to netflix is a strange feature, but ends up being pretty cool when cooking for awhile in the kitchen. Can connect to Apple music which is great! Controls all google home devices too like thermostat and speakers/cameras.

A must have for Google eco smart home
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although it's not perfect, I'm very happy with this product. I replace a mini with the hub. I like that it has a display, better sounds, and a hand gesture feature. It takes a little time to get used to the navigation, though. You also cannot download additional apps. Although you can play Spotify and view some of your playlists, you can't download a full Spotify app which is a negative for us. Sirus XM also doesn't work as smoothly. Otherwise, we are very happy with its design, photo album, voice command, hand gesture, etc. It's a must-have for a smart home.

Functional but slow
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven’t had this hub very long. I’m sure I’ve only scratched the surface. I bought it to go along with my Google Security system. So far it doesn’t do much with the security system and it has a male voice that I haven’t found out how to change. I do like the way it connects to my tv, but you have to be Very Specific in your instructions. I only found this out when I was “hey googling” it, and the tv started responding. Very frustrating in the beginning. As I played around with it, I found the response time was very slow. That’s why I gave it a 4. I’ll have to give it more time to find out what else it can do for me.

My pick over the Echo Show, with shortcomings
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've mainly looked at Amazon vs. Google products. If 2-way voice is important with your doorbell, Ring works better with Echo Shows and Nest works better with Nest Hubs. Similarly, there may be other integrations that work better by sticking to the same smart ecosystem. Where the Nest Hub shines: I like the Google Home app a little better. I think the Google Assistant is better for voice recognition and understanding commands than Alexa. Many think the Nest display looks more natural in different lighting. This may be a big factor if using it to display photo albums. If you like timers, I think the Nest Hub wins handily. You can display multiple timers at once, and it's easy to visually track where they're at. If timing multiple things in the kitchen, I think the Nest Hub is way better. Where the Echo Show shines: It's my impression that Echo devices have better audio quality then the corresponding Nest devices. They tend to have larger speakers, which probably plays a big role. I prefer my Echo devices for music. For my uses, this is the main thing Echoes have going for them. Where the Nest Hub falls short: It's not obvious, but there's a separate volume for alarms. This alarm volume is what controls the timer volume. I've had a couple jump scares when I set the media (main) volume to 1 and a timer went off. The media volume controls the volume of a camera feed, but muting does not mute the feed. This seems like a bug. If you zoom in on a camera feed, it sometimes (seemingly randomly) will zoom back out. Sometimes it'll stay zoomed in for hours. Other times it'll reset after a couple minutes. This seems like a bug. The timers will add clipart to the timers based on the name, which I kind of like for greater visual clarity. However, the images cover portions of the timer numbers, which is silly. I'd consider this a visual bug. I've had a bunch of issues trying to play and navigate YouTube videos on the Hub. I get the impression this would work better on an Echo Show, which is absurd. I had a situation where I played a YouTube video from the Hub browser, and 2 videos started playing. It wasn't easy to stop both videos. Casting from a phone works fine. Aside from casting, YouTube on the Hub seems highly buggy. Overall being able to watch/see camera feeds is great, and the Hub has better integration with my Nest Doorbell. I love the timers on the Hub way better than the Show. Those are my main uses for the Hub. I use my existing Echoes for music and lights. I'd give this 5 stars if it weren't for all the sloppy/buggy behaviors I described.

Great first entry into smart hubs!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't sure about Google Hub when I first got it. Most of our devices are iOS but we have a lot of smart home features that work well with google. After having this for over a month now, I love it and would highly recommend it to other people that are looking for a hub for their smart devices. One of my favorite features of this is the photo feature. I can load up an album through google photos and they will continuously rotate through them. For portrait photos, you can have two show side by side instead of having dead space around the photo. The one feature I haven't found super accurate is sleep tracking. It will give me a summary the next morning and it's almost always lower than how much sleep I actually got. Besides that, I love that I can play music, look at photos, watch shows, and YouTube videos, or even check on my security cameras. Highly would recommend and I'll most likely be getting another one on the other side of my house.

It is a part of my life now!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be honest, I was pretty skeptical about purchasing this product as I was looking for a smart speaker, but I'm genuinely impressed and surprised as to what an additional display would mean. Google is the number one when it comes to voice command and interpretation, so it goes without saying how amazing this works with recognizing voice commands. It is compatible with YouTube, YouTube music and Spotify, everything that I was looking for in a smart speaker. The sound quality is amazing too without any doubt. The Sleep Tracking still is a work in progress, I feel like it overestimates the hours for me a bit, but I'm sure someday it'll get there. I even have a smart bulb set up with it, and I really love the gestures settings, makes life a lot simple. Would definitely recommend!

A fantastic, inexpensive smart display
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the sleep tracking functionality, I also have an Apple Watch but I prefer to charge it at night. I do find that the UI lags sometimes, which is the main reason I won't give it 5 stars. Also, on the odd occasion it accidentally thinks I said Hey Google when I didn't.

Perfect for the Bedroom! Google & Alexa Co-Exist!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for the bedroom! No worrying about privacy due to the lack of camera. The sound is decent, plenty for a good size bedroom. My wife and I use this as a nightstand clock, and to play relaxing music to fall asleep to. The auto dimming screen is perfect at night, not too bright, easy on the eyes. We also use it to control a smart light in the room that we can just turn off when we get into bed. Looks nice, great features, and over-all great value! We own and love our other Alexa devices as well, however, I feel this works best in our bedroom since it's not on the same eco-system as our Alexa devices, it won't disturb my wife or I with some of our notifications if sleeping. The Google Assistant and Alexa can still co-exist in harmony LOL. I highly recommend.
