Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Nighthawk Mesh X4S Wall-Plug Tri-Band WiFi Mesh Extender's impressive WiFi range, ease of use, and setup simplicity. Many appreciate the improved signal strength and expanded coverage it provides throughout their homes. While some experienced occasional connectivity issues or found the device's size somewhat large, the positive feedback on performance and range significantly outweighs the negative comments. The extender is generally considered effective at extending WiFi coverage.

The setup was fairly painless, but it constantly dropped either my 2.4ghz or 5ghz signal or both. It would pick it up again, but it shouldn't drop it in the first place. I kept moving it closer and closer to the router. It was eventually just outside of the door of the room that has the router and it would still drop the signal. I finally returned it. It may have been defective. I'll wait until it goes on sale at this point and maybe buy it again.

Easy to install, and dramatically improved my signal on the upper level of my home. If you have a lot of pixelation or stills/stalling (packet loss) on your TV, you need this behind your router.

This product is very easy to use and to set up if you don't have the skills or knowledge about how to use electronic devices. The range for this extender is amazing and also you can use with other previous models of the same brand.

I have a computer and televsion on the second floor away from the main modem and the extender has made a noticeable difference in helping with the signal stregth. We no longer have the lag in internet or tv service (when using smart tv apps) More than I wanted to spend but does the job.

The NETGEAR Nighthawk Mesh X4S Wall-Plug Tri-Band WiFi Mesh Extender was just what we needed to extend our WiFi range. Setup was easy and it performs just as the Best Buy sales rep said it would. We highly recommend it!

So far not too bad. It does mesh wifi signal with current router but if your router is not capable of meshing wifi signal, it is pointless to buy an upgrade as a wifi extender. I will be upgrading my router soon. I currently have the netgear AC1750 which gets good signal in our large home

Purchased for 2nd floor and backyard extension. Works as advertised and have seen throughput to my Comcast modem/router at 300 mbps. When I had to restart the router, had to restart the extender as well. Have connected a laptop, cell phone and tablet simultaneously.

It works well. I grabbed wrong model. I wanted the one with ethernet, this one does not. However, I did not realize till I opened but I tested it out and is pretty good for a range extender. Not sure why no ethernet port. If it had one, it'd be a 5 star rating.

I purchased this extender for my Nighthawk and Ring floodlight cam and it does the job extending my signal though exterior walls (garage). The Nighthawk combo is seamless when transferring from extender to router.

I bought this to extend my existing network into a difficult location. It configured easily and has worked remarkably given the location. ( literally in a space 18” between two safes! )!

It took a little longer and some inept tech support before I got it working the way it's supposed to. However once it finally connected right it's been good ever since and gives us a much stronger signal in the room where we needed it.

I purchased this to get wifi to a sprinkler control panel in my garage. My router is in the basement (approx 1750 square ft ranch house) on one side of the house and the control panel is on the opposite side of the house on the farthest wall in the garage from the router (unfortunately best spot for it in the garage). No matter where I placed the extender it did not get a steady signal to the control panel. Either I had a good signal between the router and extender and no signal to the control panel or a good signal between the extender and control panel and a very poor (kept dropping) between the extender and router. I like Netgear and wanted the extender to work as I thought it would be an easy solution to my problem. In the end, I was disappointed with the extender as it was dropping signals with the router where my tablets or cellphone usually get 65% to 70% signal. Also, when I had a good signal with the router, I only had to go about 60 to 65 feet to the control panel (with only heavy insulation and the exterior house/garage wall to go through) and I could not get a signal to it with the extender. I gave it 2 stars as it did improve the signal in my house where I was getting 65% to 70% up to 95% to 100%. However, for the price I would expect much more! Ended up returning the extender and getting Netgear powerline adapters (can't say enough good things about them! Only dropped 1mb per second [average 98.5 mb at router and get about 97.3 at terminating poweline] going across the whole house) and turning my old router into an access point near the garage in my basement. Now I have 70% to 75% signal in the garage and most of my backyard. Also, saved about $60.

Had some weak spots in my home that needed a boost and this was the cheapest solution I could find that works. Signal strength was increased and I now have strong constant connection as I move around my home with wireless tech gadgets.

I will say that I am returning this product for a different setup. I am going to use the latest Netgear Mesh EX8000 along with a Motorola Moca network adapter to create a Wireless Access Point on the other side of my home. I felt that I wasn't getting enough 'juice' from this model and wanted to step up in model and have a direct connection as well. It might be overkill to some but I absolutely hate buffering and felt that this model would switch on and off at least in my tests. I used the app to see coverage as well.

I guess it furthers the range of my Wi-Fi, but I don't even use it anymore because then I disconnect too often with it.

This was very easy to setup and get running and actually works very well. However, I noticed that after a short time my devices would stop sending traffic even though they were still connected. A quick unplug and replug would get everything running again in no time. But it became very frequent and very annoying to always have to reset the device to keep using your wifi. No signal is worse than a poor signal. I returned it. The concept is great but it needs work on the reliability aspect.

This setup was very easy and makes going from downstairs to upstairs easy. Don’t expect to it to make your original router (Netgear Blackhawk for me) signal stronger but does allow similar 5g strength to go further.
