This camera takes great pictures, especially in low light. The zoom feature is much better than my last camera. It's easy to use and also has many features I haven't even played with yet.

This camera is amazing. I was a little skeptical at first when I bought it since I've never owned a camera before but I can't find any flaws with it. It's compact, lightweight, looks slick, and overall just a fantastic camera. New or experienced I would recommend this camera to anyone looking to upgrade.

This is a replacement for a Nikon S6000, which developed a small black spot on the upper right screen, but still is functioning well otherwise. This new camera is slightly larger than the S6000, but has some additional features. So, far I am very pleased with the S9600.

I bought this camera during the Black Friday Sale at a great price. I am still learning to use this camera as it has many features. I bought it mainly to use for the outdoors. Trying to capture those beautiful sunrises that I often see. The pictures are usually good but sometimes they are still darker than what I want. Still working on finding the right options to have the perfect picture.

I am not technologically sophisticated so I was looking for a very easy, intuitive point and shoot camera, with a decent zoom at a reasonable price point. This camera ticks off all the boxes. This camera also has settings that a more sophisticated user would like. The quality of the photos is good, so overall I'm happy with my purchase. The camera charges up fairly quickly and holds the charge for a good amount of time. I would recommend that Nikon make the on/off button a bit bigger. I don't have big hands by any means, but I find that I end up using my finger nail to turn it on instead of the pad of my finger since the button is small and somewhat recessed. Also the lettering for the on/off button is already starting to wear off and I have only had the camera for about 6 weeks. I am not a big fan of the positioning of the pop up flash. Most of the time I have my finger over the flash when I'm stabilizing the camera for the shot. I forget I have the flash enabled and I mess up the shot as the flash is popping up! Once it's popped up, all is good. As with any new item there is always a learning curve.

I love this camera. All the pictures I have taken so far have come out excellent (about 25). The color is very vivid and clear.

We got this camera for our office to take pictures of product. It has been very easy to use, the clarity is good, and the shutter speed and recovery is very good. My mother has problems using any camera she has ever had and even she can get good pictures with this one. It is nice and compact so instead of using my good camera (which can be bulky) we decided to take this one to Disney with us. It fit right into my mini purse and It did the job. We got good pictures, the only thing I would say is that the color is not as brilliant as my Luminix and the clarity and depth is not as sharp but that camera was double the price of this one. I gave it 5 stars for ease of use, it's compactness and how well the pictures came out for the price of the camera.

I'm pretty happy with this camera. It has above average features for this price. There's some color distortion in low light, no flash shots, but that's a fairly common problem. The flash is awkwardly located where your left hand naturally grabs the camera, but it's fairly easy to get used to. Nice zoom, very good color and sharpness w/adequate light. Light and thin with which is what I was looking for in a point and shoot. I'm not big on effects or scenes but there's plenty of those to play with. The video quality is quite good for this level of camera too.

My last camera was fairly old, but I really enjoyed using it- light weight, easy, with good photos. This was a good replacement. The telephoto range was very good, and I got some amazing, clear close-ups. My only complaint is that I find some of the option buttons are very close and in inconvenient places. The pop-up flash is right where you put your finger to hold the camera. The video button is on the opposite side also in an area where I hold the camera. It is all something I must adjust to.

Bought this camera for my mother-in-law to use she wanted great pics, compact size, easy to use, and easy to share pics. We got all of this with this camera, and the wifi makes it very easy to wifi them to her iPhone and she can instantly text them to anyone she wants. My only negative comment: I can't find a setting for a true 2x3 or 4x6 aspect ratio for traditional printing.

Purchased this on a black friday deal. Overall good camera. Can take very low light pictures (w/o flash) very well. I have found that leaving the flash off works best as the auto flash can wash out pictures pretty easy. The movie taking capability is great. I think it takes better movies than pictures. Picture quality is good. Havent figured out how to take fast moving photos yet.

Excellent battery life, multiple pre-set modes and small size make this a great camera for those on the go. Overall it takes excellent pictures (even when zoomed in) though it needs help when shooting in conditions where there is bright sunlight and shadows.

Likely the last stand-alone camera to own

With picture-taking migrating to cellphones, this is likely the last compact camera-only I'll own. Wanted something that still allows a long zoom and high megapixels for now, but in a small package. Pros: Great optical zoom, very quick powerup and shutter cycle speeds. Good photo quality. Wifi Cons: Could be lighter. The pop up flash is annoying, poorly placed, and seems flimsy. Worried that I will break it off at some point in the future. Very easy also to have your finger over top of it. If the camera is on auto-flash, and it can't pop up, the camera displays an error and doesn't take the picture. Not the lightest camera out there, but adequate. Summary: This will likely be the last camera that I'll buy, as cellphone cameras are rapidly approaching in quality and features. At around $200, it's also about the most to spend. If you don't want the longer zoom but still want a standalone camera, then get something less expensive. If those features matter, this is a good camera for you.

This Nikon is the best camera! Battery rocks, menus are easy to use. One negative is the location of the flash. It's dependable and takes great pictures in dark settings very well. Sure wish I would have bought this one first. The cannon that never worked after the 1st week I bought it, sucks. Of course I didn't figure that out until it was too late to return. When the reviews on the Cannon said it eats batteries, they were right! Buy this Nikon! It rocks.

I recently purchased this for my father for Christmas and had a chance to use it. It takes great pictures, has many nice features, is simple to use and fits easily into your pocket. The viewing screen is large for previewing pictures which is a plus since his sight isn't the best. Highly recommended.

I'M 30 YEARS IN THE MOTION PICTURE AND TV BUSINESS SO I KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT CAMERAS. I WENT THROUGH SEVERAL OF THESE BEFORE I FOUND A GOOD ONE. THE FIRST ONE "CRASHED" FREQUENTLY REQUIRING THE BATTERY BE REMOVED TO RE START.. ON SUBSEQUENT ONES I FOUND THE AUTOFOCUS IN MOVIE MODE WOULD SLOWLY GET SLUGGISH OVER A FEW MINUTES TIME AND THEN STOP RESPONDING AS I DID A SIMPLE TEST OF SHOOTING AN OUTSIDE LANDSCAPE AND SHOOTING A CLOSE UP HAND HELD OBJECT OVER AND OVER. I FINALLY FOUND A KEEPER THAT REFOCUSES QUICKLY WITHOUT EVER "LOCKING UP" AND IT WORKS GREAT, I REALLY LIKE IT. I GOT IT ON SALE HERE AT BEST BUY FOR $149.99 WITH A MEM CARD AND CASE ON BLACK FRIDAY... GREAT DEAL!!! IF YOU BUY ONE, TEST IT IN MOVIE MODE - SHOOT A FEW MINUTES ALTERNATING CLOSE UP AND FAR AWAY AND CONFIRM THE AUTOFOCS IS SHARP AND RESPONDS THE ENTIRE TIME!

NIKON COOLPIX S9600 IS GOOD-NOT BEST

This is the fourth camera I have replaced. Three I WORE OUT-One had its screen cracked. I have had NIKONS and CANONS. This camera has a pop-up flash. What I don't like is that I HAVE TO PUSH IT BACK DOWN when done. The setting knob easily moves elsewhere from its normal position. I have found on this and all my cameras, the strap has ended-up in pictures as it is long and not flexible. I DO like the size and it is built sturdy and takes GREAT pictures. I advise to get the GEEK SQUAD WARRANTY. NO-THIS IS NOT A COMMERCIAL-Just that I have it on every camera and with it-I get credit towards a replacement-WHEN I WEAR THEM OUT. The NIKON COOLPIX S9600 is a GOOD camera-Not the best. I HAVEN'T FOUND THAT CAMERA YET!
